Rommel's Rod sells for $ 1 million +
Harry P. replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Both of my parents were born in Europe and were little kids, living there, throughout WWII. You wouldn't believe what they (and their families) went through. Let's just say it was not a happy, idyllic childhood for either of them. Europe during the 1940s was one big freaking mess. But back to the subject at hand... even knowing what I know about what they went through, I don't have a problem with the idea of a "Rommel's Rod" model kit. I'm sure no harm was intended in the creation and marketing of that kit... it's more of a case of blissful ignorance. -
Best selling cars (and truck) of all time

It is. Early "Fords" were really Dodges. We're talking about the first series of Model As... not the Model As that came after the Model T. -
New Moebius Ford Pick-ups 1971 Ranger XLT AND 1969 Custom SWB

And the better news is, Moebius has shown that they will make corrections. Their Chrysler 300 had horrible problems with the body shell. After they posted a test shot here, we all chimed in, and they fixed the problems! -

Not many, just a very small minority. Many of them have already been banned. Some keep trying to come back using a different login name and we have to ban them again. There seems to be that small group of guys who for some reason just want to push our buttons and make trouble. Those are the worst... the ones that actively and intentionally give us a hard time. I have to wonder about a person who feels the need to cause trouble on a model car forum. I mean, really? That's how you spend your time? -

The vast majority of our forum members don't have any idea of what goes on behind the scenes here, or the krap the mods put up with from some people, or the time spent policing this place. Seriously, if I posted some of the PMs I've received over the years, you would think I was making them up! -
When I was a kid, and up to my 30s, I as fearless. I rode my bike everywhere, including downtown Chicago. I wouldn't do that today... but now I'm lucky enough to live near a ton of really nice bike trails tha wind through forest preserves, and one that is actually a converted old rail line... it goes for about 50 miles or so through the western Chicago suburbs north to south.

I know about most of the fake names. But the thing is, I can't prove it... so I can't do anything about it. We rely on people being honest and playing fair... but there's always that certain group... I should have kept all the PMs I have regarding full names and made them into a book. Nobody would believe them! -

Look closely. There's no "short shot" there. And even if there was (which there isn't)... how would you explain the fact that the window frames are wider than the ones on Sean's buildup? The molds used to create that test shot and the molds to create the parts Sean built are different. Look at the seam line on the roof of Sean's model... behind the side window upper rear corner. It's not on the test shot... -

Harry P. replied to SteveG's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
A test shot is produced using the finished tooling, no? The material injected is irrelevant, it's the shape of the steel molds that determines what the parts look like. How can the contours and thickness of the window frame change from test shot to production model unless the molds were modified? -

The swastika is an ancient symbol that dates back many hundreds, if not thousands, of years. It appears in ancient civilizations, it was a common decorative element in tile work of building floors long before it became a symbol of the Nazi party. Heck, we even used it ourselves... -

I'd be happy if they just got the "full name" part! You wouldn't believe how many PMs I've sent to people about that. And the nasty repies I've gotten. -

If you don't want people to comment on your work, don't post your work. Simple as that. It's totally unfair to post your work and then expect everyone to tiptoe around and only post "attaboys" and "nice job" and not post their real opinions. -

It sure is! The curvature looks very different in various shots... I'd say Moebius got it fairly close. Maybe not perfect, but reasonably close. The door pillar, though...
