  1. Uh oh... your Ford is parked in front of a Chevy service garage! Greetings to the most corrupt state in Europe from the most corrupt state (Illinois) in America!
  2. I thought the transporter looked good... the car looks even better! Great work, John.
  3. I've subscribed to that one from Day 1. Great magazine, and nice that model cars are getting a mention.
  4. Uh oh... better get to the ATM!
  5. Somehow, the mention of running into a guy on the street who has a "product" he'd like to sell you for cash reminds me of something else besides a flea market...
  6. I have to agree with the guys. Very nice Edsel, very clean work. No doubt you have skills... but definitely not a fan of the clown car wheels. The car couldn't steer because there's absolutely no clearance. I know, it's a model and you can do anything in scale that you want to do... but I would love to see this model with a set of more practical wheels and tires. It would be a show-stopper! But that's only my opinion.
  7. Beautiful! It's nice to have a new forum member with your talent! Welcome!
  8. I don't know if most people even realize the amount of work you put into that chassis. Simply amazing work.
  9. Very nice models of two of the best looking big Fords of all time.
  10. Wow! That stereo is amazing. I've never seen this level of detail in a model car. Your work is unbelievable. And I mean that in a good way!
  11. I think it looks great as it is. Nice model.
  12. A person on the street with something to sell? For cash? Uh, what sort of "merchandise" are you talking about?
  13. Interesting. I'll have to try that!
  14. Isn't it illegal for a store to refuse to take cash? Doesn't it say "this note is legal tender for all debts, public and private" on money?
  15. That's why I like using a debit card exclusively. Since every single purchase I make is recorded, it tends to make me more aware of my buying habits. And seeing all of my purchases listed makes me more responsible when it comes to buying. Like you say, a pocketful of cash has a habit of disappearing without you realizing how much you've spent... or what you spent it on. Using a debit card instead of cash makes every purchase more "official" and tends to make me a smarter purchaser. Works for me, at least. And no more need to carry a big lump of cash around everywhere. I can't remember the last time I used an ATM for a cash withdrawal... seems so "20th Century!"
  16. Any contract can be challenged in court. It's not worthless... but also not a guarantee of anything. Most people will abide by a signed contract, so it's a good idea to use one. I'm just saying that if a customer refuses to honor the contract, the only legal recourse you have is to take him to court... and the cost to do that may be more than the amount owed you.
  17. A contract is worth no more than the paper it's printed on. No matter how fancy the legalese, if the client refuses to pay, you have only one option: sue him. Unfortunately, the cost of hiring a lawyer and filing a lawsuit is usually more than the amount owed you. I've been self-employed since 1987, and I've found out that chasing after a deadbeat client is more hassle than it's worth. Keep the bike and use it as a sample for other clients.
  18. My pleasure. Glad you guys like it. Tulio... no engine or chassis shots. Nothing to show, really. The engine is painted but not wired or detailed any further, everything on the chassis is just painted flat black. This is a simple shelf model, nothing more.
  19. No fair... you guys get waaaay too many holidays!
  20. Wow, that is old school. I stopped using cash years ago. So much easier and quicker to just swipe the debit card. I don't think I've paid for anything in actual cash for several years. Of course, the downside is that since I use my debit card for 100% of all my purchases, and the debit card is actually my checking account, and since the bank sends me a checking account statement every month itemizing every single checking account transaction (which of course includes every debit card transaction), my statements tend to be many pages long!
  21. Art... sounds like you had a good thing going back in the 1980s-90s with your shop. What's the story on why you no longer have it?
  22. Remember, don't post hints or answers here. PM me with year, make and model. The answer: 1912-14 Metz Model 22
  23. I knew somebody would mention that.
  24. People who still pay at the grocery store with a paper check. They open their checkbook, fill out the check, ask what the date is, then the cashier needs to see ID, blah, blah, blah... What is this, 1959? Get a debit card, fer cryin' out loud!
