  1. Beautifully done!
  2. Fear knowledge? I seek out knowledge. But I know the difference between useful and useless knowledge.
  3. Thanks, Charlie. That really means a lot.
  4. I have several "in-progess" models whose time spent on can be counted in decades, not hours. Seriously. But I don't keep track, as it is totally irrelevant. A hobby is all about being off the clock. Being on the clock is called "work."
  5. That's a bit presumptuous of you, isn't it? Nobody does what you do? I find that impossible to believe. We have seven BILLION people on this rock. I don't think you're that unique!
  6. Right, because in that case you are charging for your time. In the case of taking part in a hobby... there is no point in keeping track of time. What are you gonna do, bill yourself for your time?
  7. The explanation of how to post pictures here has been covered in various threads about a bazillion times already. It's even a pinned topic. But just for you, here it is again... This site only allows a very small amount of space to upload images directly from your computer, because this site is NOT meant to be a photo hosting site. Can you imagine the amount of storage space we would need if this site hosted all of the photos we constantly post here? The right way to do it it to open a photo hosting account, like Photobucket. Photo hosting sites are designed to do just that... host (or store) your images on their servers, not ours. Load all your images into albums on your photo hosting site, then you post the link to your photos here in your posts, not the actual photo. The photo stays parked on your photo hosting site's server, taking up their space, yet we can still see the image here in your posts because you posted the link to the image here, not the image itself.
  8. Always nice to see factory stock models of lesser seen cars. Love the two-tone paint scheme.
  9. Doesn't the Model Building Questions & Answers section cover that topic?
  10. No politics please. If we get into that, all that'll happen is we'll have a huge online fight on our hands.
  11. Thanks, everyone. I have to undergo more tests. It's the not knowing and the "what if I have this?" and "what if I have that?" that's the hard part. You lay in bed at night and all sorts of crazy thoughts go through your head.
  12. I don't mean to be critical of the people who actually keep track of their time spent... if that's what you want to do, fine. But why? Say you keep track of time and it turns out you spent X number of hours building a particular kit. Ok, fine. But so what? I mean, what does knowing the time spent do for you? I really don't see the point.
  13. I don't keep track of the time spent. The model is finished when it's finished, the time spent is irrelevant to me.
  14. Actually, this is the link... http://www.revell.com/support/faq.html
  15. Imagine a two-lane street with a third center lane that serves as a left-turn lane for both the northbound and southbound (or eastbound and westbound) traffic lanes. That center lane is continuous and defined by yellow stripes all along the length of the street, and has turning arrows painted on the pavement every hundred feet or so. Obviously a turning lane. Now imagine the genius who wants to turn left, but stops in the driving lane and sits there instead of pulling into that turn lane. Imagine that genius holding up everyone behind him because he/she is so clueless as to not understand the purpose of that center lane.
  16. If a contest judge takes away for incorrect firing order, then correct ignition wire diameter, correct hose clamps, correct washer bottles, correct master cylinder plumbing, etc. should also be fair game. In other words, if the judges are going to get so nit-picky that they look to see if the firing order is correct... then they have to consider all underhood details. Obviously this is taking things too far. But I agree that "4 to the left and 4 to the right" looks pretty lame.

  18. Not sure if this is the same exact kit, but it is a '55 street machine... http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMT-1955-CHEVY-BEL-AIR-SEDAN-STREET-Model-Car-Mountain-1-25-FS-/141971629600?hash=item210e2b2620:g:2~oAAOSwvkVXHnaO And here is a Monogram version... http://www.ebay.com/itm/MONOGRAM-1955-CHEVY-STREET-MACHINE-1-24-w-Bonus-Batman-Comic-Book-/331871910987?hash=item4d451b7c4b:g:VJ4AAOSwubRXHYsu http://www.ebay.com/itm/MONOGRAM-1-25-1955-55-Chevy-Bel-Air-Hardtop-2-n-1-Model-Kit-Car-Show-Hot-Rod-/391475328104?hash=item5b25bf7468:g:wHwAAOSwqBJXVEZy
  19. Some of the prices you are seeing is for multiple bottles. Otherwise, they are all the same product. For some inexplicable reason, the makers have changed the name and label several times.
  20. Definitely not my cup of tea as far as subject matter, but man, that is one clean, sharp model! Beautifully done.
  21. At least you have dental insurance. Or had. I can't even imagine a luxury like that.
  22. Thanks, everyone. When I have some solid info I will share it with you guys.
  23. True, you can't pick thickness. You get what you get. But just as a stockpile of styrene sheet, you really can't go wrong for a buck or so.
  24. Nobody hopes it'll turn out ok more than me. Tests to come. Diagnosis to come. I have a feeling I won't be doing too much sleeping tonight.
