  1. Man, you guys are posting some pretty obscure women here. Who the heck is Mia Sara?
  2. Yeah, definitely not my usual subject matter. For for that price, hard to resist.
  3. It's not my job. I'm not an employee of Model Cars Magazine. I'm a freelance graphic artist. MCM is just one of many clients I have, but none of them are my employers. I'm self-employed.
  4. The kid next door showed me his model cars and I liked them. So I decided I'd like to try that, too. But he wasn't trying to get me into model cars. They were just there, and I saw them, liked them, and decided to build my own.
  5. The bigger question... why are the doors clear?
  6. That kid has way bigger issues to deal with than model cars.
  7. Kids are exposed to plenty of stuff. They don't need us to "open their eyes" to model cars. Like I said, if a kid has an interest in cars, he/she will find model cars. If they have no interest in that, it's not our job to expose them to it. If a guy rang my doorbell and said he wanted to introduce me to the wonderful world of bonsai, my answer would be... hey, you know, if I had an interest in miniature trees I would already be involved in it. You aren't going to create an interest in me that doesn't exist. Bottom line is... let others choose their own hobby. Their own interests will lead them, not our interests.

  9. Exactly. Why anyone should be concerned about what hobby another person chooses is beyond me. It's their choice. Not mine. And their choice should have nothing to do with what I chose as a hobby any more than the color shirt they wear should be in accordance with the color shirt I wear.
  10. The blue roadster is on ebay for $522, free shipping. That is a steal of a price. I am so tempted to pull the trigger...
  11. I have to admit I have never seen this kit, but yours looks pretty good!
  12. If you ask me it looks like a guy in drag. Not my cup of tea for sure.
  13. Here's my take on the whole "we gotta get kids into the hobby" thing. Why? Why is it the "duty" of people who are into the model car hobby to recruit kids? Isn't a hobby something a person chooses based on their own personal preferences and interests? The point being, if a kid has an interest in model cars, he/she will get involved in the hobby without any external prodding! That's how it worked with me. My dad had zero interest in cars, or model cars. But I got involved in the hobby because it interested me. I didn't need to be recruited... my own interest got me involved. And that is how it should be! A person should choose their hobby based on their own interests, not the wishful thinking of others. I chose my hobby. I think we should let others choose their hobby, whatever it may be. Just because we are interested in model cars doesn't mean that others must also be, or that it is somehow our "duty" to force our hobby onto others. A hobby is a personal choice, not the result of recruitment.
  14. I saw not one, but two mid-60s Camaros within 5 minutes. First was an orange coupe, then a white convertible.

    TV Batmobile

The decal stripes look good... why would you do them with paint next time? The only problem I see is where you ran the horizontal stripes past the grille opening stripes. That looks pretty weird, but otherwise the decal stripes look good. BTW... "Batmobile" is one word...
  16. Heck, there are plenty that can't figure out "lose" and "loose" or "there" and "their"...
  17. Hey Ray... I recently found this guy's youtube channel ("PLASMO").. He does fantastic work on 1/72 and 1/48 scale planes. You might want to check it out and get a few tips. He's really good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-Mdr1mgVuU
  18. Shouldn't your screen name be "Datsun?"
  19. Well now! There are two cars you never see in model form. Nicely done.
  20. Three basic possibilities: 1. You can buy prefinished diecast models and just put them on your display shelf. No work involved. 2. You can take an existing assembled diecast model, take it apart, and modify, detail, and repaint it any way you want. 3. There are also some diecast kits available that have to be assembled just like "regular" plastic kits. Pick the level of involvement you like!
  21. In that photo of all three cars, the '60 looks awfully small.
  22. Pretty interesting video if you're into vintage toy vehicles...
