  1. Nameless National Luminaries. Here's the story: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23662
  2. I haven't seen even one post on this entire thread where anyone said anything about Canadian-built cars being inferior or slamming Canada in any way. You sure you're reading the same posts the rest of us are reading?
  3. I think you misunderstand my stance on the "American car/foreign car" debate. I have no problem with "foreign" cars. I've owned both domestic and Japanese cars (but never a Honda or Toyota).
  4. Maybe the way I worded it was the problem. It probably sounded to him more like a slam than a question.
  5. Right, but he took offense to me asking about it.
  6. Nicely done, especially the left rear fender.
  7. I mean the rear glass. As in rear window. Looks like it's not there... maybe the photo is misleading.
  8. Maybe after all this time, and seeing how happy you are with the car, you need to get the name right. Sonata.
  9. Ok. Cool.
  10. Drew, I think your "detail only what you see" theory is great. I mean, I can see someone going nuts on a contest build, but if the model is destined to be displayed on the shelf in your own home (as most models are), you are right on target. And BTW... as far as a shelf model goes, it's a beauty for sure!
  11. When I see a model built to such a high level, believe me, it gets my attention. It deserved the feature, and the cover. Well done, Marcos.
  12. Nice job on a rarely seen model. But... is the rear glass missing?
  13. Yeah, he played some roles where he was not exactly nice guy Sheriff Andy.
  14. I just asked you a simple question.
  15. Pig wrapped in pig! Yum!
  16. Ok, I'll buy the white painted bumpers... but what's up with the white door handles, headlight bezels, etc?
  17. Now that's funny! And true!
  18. No selling allowed on the forum.
  19. The best way to restore chrome parts is to have them replated, like Ben said. Any "chrome" paint, even Alclad, is not going to look like actual plated parts. It looks close... sort of... but if you had two parts side by side, one plated and one painted, you could see the difference every time. I'm not saying Alclad isn't an alternative, especially if the "almost chrome" look is ok for what you want... but you did ask for the best way to restore chrome parts.
  20. If you're going to leave off the wipers, you should have sanded off the little "nubs" where they're supposed to attach...
  21. Ok, I admit I pulled 99% out of thin air. But my point is, the vast majority of today's car buyers want a car that has today's technology and features. Unlike guys like you, they do want (and expect) GPS, a dock for their ipod, a backup camera and park assist, etc., etc. It's true when you say that today's generation doesn't want to deal with yesterday's technology, but that's true of all generations. People always want the new thing, the latest gadget. Back in the early 1900s, when electric starters replaced cranks in cars, do you really think most people said, "gee, I wish they kept the crank?" Of course not. Jairus, if you prefer a 50 year old car to a late model car as your daily driver, that's fine... for you. But believe me, you are in a tiny, tiny minority.
  22. 99% of American car buyers want a car that has all the latest gadgetry, and a warranty. Not only do they not know how to work on a car, they have no interest in doing that. Guys who can buy an old car and make it their daily driver make up a microscopic segment of the car buying public.
  23. You may have owned more foreign cars than you think.
  24. That's exactly my point. A lot of people who think they're supporting Uncle Sam because they would never even consider buying a "ferrin" car are driving around in a car that's a lot less "American" than they think.
  25. You mean good old "American" brands like Bud and Miller? Anheuser-Busch (Bud, Michelob, Busch, etc.)... owned by a Belgian/Brazilian conglomerate. Miller (Miller, Miller Lite, Leinenkugel, etc.)... owned by a SAB. South African Breweries.
