  1. Your model was definitely "cover worthy." That level of scratchbuilding skill is something to be proud of!
  2. I don't know what you mean when you say the blue "pulled back" from the edge? Do you mean that the blue actually lifted off? If not, then from the photos it looks to me like good old-fashioned paint seeping under the edge of the tape.
  3. Oops... sorry, I didn't see that you already suggested that. Seems like a very easy solution!
  4. Instead of scratchbuilding a more accurate compressor, scratchbuilding a mounting bracket (after all, the compressor has limited supernatural powers and can't keep its drive belt in tension by magic), and worrying about how the refrigerant lines are routed, I have a far simpler solution: Throw out that wacky "compressor" and cut off the associated drive belt. Presto. Instant, easy fix.
  5. Which of course means that the obvious way to fix this problem is if a lot more of you guys subscribe!
  6. "Noone?" As in Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits???

    RetroVette

I never did a front end.
  8. Don't know. I didn't do anything.
  9. Final vote: 24 REAL, 30 MODEL. Which means I WIN! It's REAL!
  10. I can read just fine... just a little friendly jab...
  11. Aside from the fact that fiberglass doesn't rust... , I'd say you nailed it on the rust detail. It looks very authentic, and it's happening in all the right places.
  12. Not much representation of '70s cars in scale because '70s cars in real life were ######-and not too many people have any interest in, or fond memories of, cars of that decade. The beginnings of smog regulations and in response the manufacturer's pathetic and undeveloped technology... those incredibly ugly tacked-on 5 mph. bumpers... the Caddy "8-6-4" debacle... dubious (at best) build quality... GM's bland badge engineering at its peak... etc. If there is a "black hole" in automotive history, the '70s are definitely in the running.
  13. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess...
  14. Geez... this is supposed to be a simple "look at the photo and decide" game, not an exercise in laboratory forensics!
  15. I think you'll be "Most" interested in page 17... Not you. You're ok...
  16. And as far as the quality of the photography... I'm at the mercy of the contributor. Yeah, my old pal Photoshop and I can do a lot, but I'm not a miracle worker. Both cover models were Photoshopped by me big time... even though they are among the better quality photos I usually get. I have to retouch virtually every single photo you see in the mag, some a little, some I have to basically recreate from scratch. The time I spend just retouching the photos in any given issue would amaze you. Top quality builders are not always top quality photographers!
  17. Besides... who's to say what type of model necessarily appeals to a wide audience? I mean besides General Lee...
  18. If MCM was available on newsstands I might have to worry about stuff like that...
  19. I agree. Either the big rectangular outlet, or four smaller round ones... but under the plate, between the diffuser blades. I'd also make the bottom edges of the body below the taillights parallel to the ground, not angled like you have them (as in this quickie Photoshop "sketch"):
  20. Yep. More pages, more features for you. At no extra cost to you. We love our readers!
  21. And I hate it when someone steals my line!
  22. I don't see any point in logging your building hours. So it takes X amount of hours to build a particular model. So what? Like others have said, punching the clock is what you do at work. Model building is supposed to take you away from the time clock!
  23. They're available all around the world. Go online and buy it.
