  1. I agree... and I like the gray/black color scheme. Kinda classy!
  2. Why do you keep bringing back ancient topics that are years old???
  3. I tend to work right at the edge of my work surface. Both of these have happened to me more than once: 1: I drop a tiny part. First thing I do is slowly and carefully back my chair away from the work surface and look around on the floor. After all, I don't want to step on the part and break it. OK... I don't see it, so I carefully get on my hands and knees and search the entire floor. Once. Twice. A third time. Hmmm... still don't see it. Where could it have fallen???!!! Finally I give up and resign myself to the fact that the part is lost forever and I'll have to scratchbuild a replacement. So I get up and sit myself down at my work surface again. And there's the part. I dropped it, but it never got to the floor! I dropped it onto my cutting surface and it was there the whole time! 2: Similar story... but this time the part is actually in the fold of my pants or shirt! And in a similar vein... I've dropped a part, searched the floor over and over again, given up and actually scratchbuilt a replacement... then several days later when I've dropped another small part I see the original part I dropped days before right there on the floor. I can't explain it. I can only say it's a true story!
  4. Does your entire model collection fit into a shoebox???
  5. That looks great!
  6. That would make a pretty cool Batmobile!
  7. Remember... don't post any hints or answers here. PM me with year, make and model. The answer: 1922 Detroit Electric
  8. I know! First we had a week of 98 degrees and no rain at all... then we get 7 inches all at once!
  9. Speaking of which... yesterday we had 7 inches of rain. SEVEN inches. In ONE DAY. Actually in just a few hours! That set the all-time record here. You'd think all that rain would have washed away all the heat and humidity, but nooooooooooooo. Still as steamy as the Amazon here...
  10. All you need is a simple pocket calculator. Divide the 1/1 size by the scale you're working at. Example: 1/1 measurement is 12 inches. You're working in 1/8 scale. Divide 12 by 8. Example: 1/1 measurement is 12 inches. You're working in 1/20 scale. Divide 12 by 20. Example: 1/1 measurement is 12 inches. You're working in 1/25 scale. Divide 12 by 25. All you have to do is divide the full-scale measurement by the scale that you're working at. Simple!
  11. Hey, now that would be a nice twist on the same old, same old General Lees we see all the time. Do a little diorama scene with a scale figure Daisy washing the car! Come on... one of you DOH fans who have a GL built up... how about it?
  12. Look at this: http://hooniverse.com/2011/06/13/hooniverse-modern-art-monday-an-amc-pacer-with-only-12-2-miles-on-the-odometer/ Check the last photo. After 34 years sitting untouched, there's still fluid in the washer bottle? That would have evaporated years ago. Compare the photo of this engine compartment with the photos of the underside that were shown on the eBay listing. The undercoating in those photos was flawless, shiny and clean... as if it had been applied hours ago, not 34 years ago. The engine compartment, on the other hand, definitely doesn't match the pristine condition of the undercarriage shots. I'm telling you... something here does not add up.
  13. This should have been taken care of via a PM to everyone involved. There is absolutely no reason to post this publicly.
  14. In that case it won't be a very accurate NASCAR replica. As Junkman said, there is almost nothing in common between the factory-stock car and the "stock" race car.
  15. Only if you're three feet tall!
  16. Syd, this has been a terrific thread! Keep up the great work... we're watching! BTW... a few coats of clear will get you that "wet look"...
  17. He's in the right place because I put him in the right place...
  18. Well, it's either not rocket science... or not brain surgery. But it's definitely not "rocket surgery!"
  19. Your eye for detail is amazing. This could have been a "Real or Model" subject. One more question... you used Alclad for all the "chrome," right? What do you use as a base under the Alclad?
  20. I'd say quite a few people would never realize that was a Matchbox car!
  21. John, I forgot if you already mentioned this or not... but is that a model of a real bike or one you "made up?" Either way, it's fantastic. Totally off the charts!
  22. Just checked to see how the bidding was going. "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available." The item is no longer available? Did it disappear? I just re-read Ebay guy's description. He says when the original owner died, the car was sold at auction. He doesn't say that HE bought it at that auction, but presumably Ebay guy is the one who bought it at the auction, making him the second owner. Maybe. Still, I don't believe the story.
