need help on scale size
Harry P. replied to evilone's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
According to Wikipedia, they're slightly bigger than N scale. N scale is a popular model railway scale/track gauge. Depending on the manufacturer (or country), the scale ranges from 1:148 to 1:160. -
Are real names required or not?

Lefty here, too. You know what they say... left-handed people are out of their right minds... -

You can have it either there under your avatar, or in your signature line. Doesn't matter which. And of course, if your screen name is your real name, like with a lot of you, you're already good to go. -

Actually I'm a little more lenient. I give them three PM warnings. If no action after the third "reminder" they get a free one-week forum vacation. If they come back from vacation and STILL refuse to tell us who they really are, I'll let Gregg know, and he can then do what he thinks is appropriate. After all, Gregg made the rules. So I figure Gregg should be the one who ultimately decides what to do with those people. But so far we've had only a handful of people who flat-out refused to tell us their name, and several of those people are already gone from here. The rest of them I'm trying to chase down as best I can. -

BTW... for all of you who joined up and agreed to follow the rules but never bothered to read the rules before agreeing to follow them: Once your account has been activated you can log in to the forum and start posting. Please remember to follow these basic Forum rules: 1) No vulgar language. This board was created for modelers of all ages and offensive language is completely unacceptable. 2) Demeaning comments will not be tolerated. We believe that encouraging and/or constructive criticism can help, but putting a person down does not accomplish anything for the community. 3) If you choose to use a handle or user name that is not your proper name, then please put your full name in the signature box found in the Profile section of your account under Profile. I can make the type even bigger for any of you that still don't get it. -
Are real names required or not?

Yes, real name is the rule, and always has been. And I have several HUNDRED PMs asking people to put their real names in their signature to prove that the rule is still enforced. And I suggest you put yours back. There are a small handful of wise guys who refuse to put their real name in their signature, mostly for no good reason at all... and they have been given forum "vacations." And before some smart guy replies that he sees some people who don't have their real name in their signature, the answer is A: New people join all the time and apparently nobody reads the forum rules that they all supposedly agreed to when they signed up, and B: I can't possibly go after every single person because I'm not logged on here 24/7/365. I send them a PM whenever I see another one who's not following the rules. -
They basically gave you what you can see when you open the hood.

You might want to ask them...

ok guys... we've all had our say, and now, since we're not supposed to talk politics here, I think I should lock this. I'm sure we'll all be watching to see what develops on this story. And nack to our regularly scheduled programming...

VW unveils new microbus loved by hippies
Harry P. replied to 59-Desoto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That sure is an odd angle to be at before hitting the pole. And all the other cars in the photo are VWs. Staged??? -
And another thing... if we were "honoring Muslim tradition" by burying him within 24 hours, ok, fine... but there was no way that a photo or two could have been taken of the body sometime during those 24 hours? See.... it all seems fishy already. You can bet that I'm not the only one asking these questions.
-
I think that ship has already sailed...
-
This guy was responsible for 3,000 American deaths and we're "honoring Muslim tradition?" All this "burial at sea" nonsense is going to do is raise questions around the world as to whether he's really dead or if the US is just playing political games. I'm not saying he's not really dead... I'm saying there are people in the world who are going to question it, and it can get messy. And we could have avoided all that and proved him dead if we hadn't been so quick to bury him.
-
My biggest question: The administration claims that Bin Laden was "quickly" buried at sea. Why??? Now how in the world are we going to "prove" that he's really dead?
-
Remember... no hints or answers here! Send me a PM with year, make and model. The answer: 1956 Pegaso Z-102 Panoramica
-
Exactly. This is the perfect "reason" for them to avenge his death.

Hey! The dog is back!
-
Wow... apparently it's true. I just checked the online news outlets.
-
Newsflash, pal: Gregg is rarely online here. That would be me who tries to keep you maniacs in check every day. Ironic that the title of this thread is "Civility." This makes the fourth thread I've had to lock today. Never before have I had to do that. Congratulations, "gentlemen"... you must be very proud.

You know it...
-
Why do you assume that nobody here likes F1? Maybe the problem is that not enough F1 models get posted!
-
Actually, I'm a bit more handsome... In fact, people keep stopping me on the street and saying "Excuse me, Mr. Clooney, but could I have your autograph?"
-
If I'm guilty of anything, it's that I'm too laid back as a mod. I hate to lock threads and be (scary music intro here) "THE MODERATOR"... it really goes against what I believe a forum should be (free exchange of ideas and opinions between members). So yeah, maybe I let those threads go on a bit too long. But you know what? I'd rather be called out for letting threads go on too long before I lock them than to be locking threads too soon and clamping down too much on your "freedom of expression." What it all boils down to is that I need the members here to sort of do their own policing... and not just let it fly and expect me to always be there to clean up the mess. For the most part, the people here are good about that. Sometimes it gets out of hand. That's to be expected. But overall, like I said in a previous post, I think the members here do OK for the most part.

Nice color combo. I love Duplicolor paint, there are some cool colors available.
