  1. Right. And since I talk to just about everyone who has a feature in the magazine, I'm pretty sure nobody is going by a stage name! But I guess somebody reeeeeeally clever could be fooling me. Hmmm.... "Jairus Watson" does sound like an alias...
  2. Can't speak for SA, but we don't use aliases. Ever.
  3. I read somewhere that whatever wood they used to use, they're dumping it and going with steel.
  4. I guess you have a surprise coming, then...
  5. Don't know the answer, but since you already ordered them it's kind of too late to find out now... isn't it?
  6. I think they just recently ditched the wooden frame and entered the 21st century.
  7. I wonder if the truck styling cues mean "safety" in consumers' minds? As in sturdier, stronger, etc. A lot of consumers, especially women, seem to think that they're "safer" in an SUV-type vehicle because they are sitting up higher. (I never understood that belief, but whatever. People aparently believe it for some reason). So maybe the "urban assault vehicle" styling trend of current Chrysler cars is due in part to consumer perceptions of what makes a car "safe." (Disregarding, of course, the nut that holds the wheel!) Then again, maybe Chrysler designers just don't know ugly when they see it!
  8. If there was, they sure didn't ask me!!!
  9. Used to. And got three kids as souvenirs!
  10. Let's hope that the fourth time's the charm! Otherwise we're going to have to start calling you Mickey Rooney!
  11. You do realize that the last progress post made on this project was more than FOUR and a HALF YEARS ago, don't you?
  12. I'm no fan of the "urban assault vehicle" look... or the "gangsta" styling of the current 300. Even the current Chrysler minivans have that phony "tough guy" styling!
  13. Speaking of Chrysler design... am I the only one who thinks their vehicles have been getting uglier and uglier? The old Avenger from the late '90s looked light years better than the current version. Same with the 300. Lately all of Chrysler's cars (except maybe the Challenger) have this lumpy/boxy/bulgy/hard-angle look. Is this "progress?" Not to my eye: 1997 Avenger 2010 Avenger: I used to be a real fan of Chrysler styling. Not any more...
  14. Model looks great, so does the rigging. Even more impressive is the fact that you did that in 1/72 scale!
  15. On the corporate websites (Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, etc.)... at the bottom right, where they display the corporate logos, Ram is shown as a separate logo, along with the logos of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep. The implication (to me, at least) is that Ram is now a separate nameplate/division. Don't know what, if any, difference that makes to the consumer. But then again, Chrysler has always played fast and loose with their own brand identities. They sold Chrysler Imperials, then just Imperials. They sold Dodge and Plymouth Neons. Who knows where this new Ram thing will eventually end up?
  16. A few new (at least to me) 2012 Viper renderings: http://www.allpar.co...odge-viper.html
  17. Ram is already a known brand, they're not really launching a new nameplate... just removing the "Dodge" part of the name. I think most consumers won't even notice or care.
  18. From wikipedia: The Ram brand was created following Chrysler's alliance with Italian automaker Fiat, and future plans have Dodge switching to an exclusively car-based lineup in the near future with all pickup and future heavy-duty trucks by Chrysler being sold under the Ram brand, planned to start in the 2010 calendar year, along with a possible future replacement for the Sprinter derived from the Iveco Daily, by Fiat. The goal is to increase truck sales "from today's 280,000 to 415,000 by 2014".[3]
  19. I think that's already the case.
  20. You guys weren't fooled this time! Final vote: 46 REAL, 9 MODEL. It's REAL!
  21. Looks like this section is coming along nicely! I'm glad to see so many of you have either posted or commented here... or both! And the range of "other models" we're seeing is pretty impressive. Thanks to all of you guys for making the "new kid on the block" a success!
  22. Yeah, for a bi-monthly mag that makes sense, but not for a monthly. I got my Hemmings Classic Car December issue the other day... most monthly mags arrive to subscribers about a month before the cover date. But that doesn't solve our problem...
  23. According to that logic the January 2011 issue, already on the stands, would have to be removed in January 2011 to make way for the next issue, so the "current" issue (January 2011) will be sitting on the stands for the next 2+ months? Doesn't make sense.
