  1. I don't think so. How much "embracing" of MCM do you see over at the SA site?
  2. Are you kidding me? You post on the MCM forum how great the latest issue of SA is, and you figured that was cool? Like Ken said, try and even mention MCM on the SA forum and see how fast the delete hammer comes down on you. Seriously, man... the fact that this thread is even still here should tell you something about the people behind this magazine.
  3. No. you're exactly on the reservation.
  4. They have one in particular that I would love to have write for MCM, too...
  5. I wish Bob would agree to write for MCM, too. He might have some sort of agreement with Kalmbach where he isn't allowed to do that, though. I don't know for sure...
  6. Lee, the fact that MCM is always late is my number one biggest PITA. And you're right, it's beyond my control. Believe me, if I had the power, the magazine would never again be late. The website is Gregg's baby 100%. I have no control over it.
  7. Yeah, he can post that here... but why do it? SA has a forum, wouldn't it make more sense to post about how much you like the latest issue of SA on the SA forum??? Just because we don't run this place like a maximum security prison doesn't mean that we have no standards...
  8. I've told you guys a thousand times, keep this personal stuff off the forum.
  9. Why are you posting that here??? Do you suppose you should post about the new MCM on the SA forum? Good luck with that...
  10. That's amazing! Especially the "working" engine with oil circulating.
  11. Now those are cool! The chrome strips really make it.
  12. On that point I'd have to disagree 1,000%...
  13. I ordered them in black, and found a place that sells the paint in 12 oz. aerosol cans for 20 bucks. So I'll paint them myself and save about $180!
  14. Yes, that's exactly how I do it–adding, deleting, changing things, etc. as I go... but starting with a photo as my basic guide. For example, in this one you can see the original photo that I started with, and my "restyle".. This one started out as a photo of a Mustang, but after I did my thing, not much Mustang was left! The cutaway of the 18 wheeler that I mentioned was tough, because it had to be done in Illustrator, which I don't use much for illustration, oddly enough... and second, I had no photo at all... I had to make it up out of my head. All I had were some photos of individual parts like the brake assemblies, a truck engine, etc.
  15. Ok, here's a question that's been bugging me for ages. I don't know the guy, so I assume there's a story behind this... Why is it that every time a model of Ted Lear's is posted up, somebody else does the posting? Why does he never post his own photos?
  16. I delete my browser history regularly. Never know when the feds are gonna come knockin'...
  17. I want to replace the mirrors on my Mustang with Agent 47 mirrors. Last time I looked, I found a place that'll paint them for you (at an additional charge, of course)... but I can't remember the name of the place. I know that silverhorseracing.com sells them black or painted, but the place that I found had a much lower price for the painted ones. Anyone have any idea what that other place that I found (but now can't remember) is called? I did the google search thing and came up empty.
  18. Checking the fit of parts should be done early in the assembly process, before painting, and any misaligned or poorly-fitting parts need to be dealt with long before the model is painted. 99% of the time all that's needed is a little sanding or filing to finesse things into place (unless you're building a Pocher kit, in which case some pretty major surgery is sometimes the only way to get body panels to fit like they should... and even then it's not always a really good fit!)
  19. Yeah, how about it? Get busy... your turn!
  20. Nice! I do all my drawing/painting in Photoshop... I once had to do a cutaway of an 18 wheeler for a trade show display in Illustrator because the client wanted vector art. Man, that was tough! I'm so used to Photoshop that doing the illustration in Illustrator was kind of hard for me. But I got through it!
  21. Just to further confuse the issue, I found this: http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/ford/starliner/1038149.html
  22. Those headlight stone guards would best be done via photoetched stainless steel. Hello, aftermarket...
