You've done another fine job Al. It's great when you can score anything on EBAY for such a low price. Good luck healing up that knee.
-
Marty, that looks great. I love the colors. Nice job.
-
Thanks a lot guys. I'm going to attempt straightening those bumpers this afternoon. Then it will be on to the next project.
-
You're probably right Harry. The more I look at the crooked bumpers, the more they bug me. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
-
James, it would look a lot more "gorgeous" if I could have gotten those metal front and rear bumpers to sit straighter. Robert, I guess it might be nearing time for a new Avatar picture. Bob and Peter, yes, this Buick fills a "hole" in my group of 1956 cars very nicely. I've still got about 6 more cars to get and/or do to complete the "Class of '56".

Another beauty Steven. You've got quite an impressive collection of beautifully done models. I'm also a fan of picking different colors for cars. It keeps things interesting.

Well, thank you all very, very much for all of your very kind comments. Alan, Steven and Peter, this car had no warping at all..!! The passenger side vent window frame was missing which I repaired with pieces of plastic. It also had no vent window glass. I used small pieces of clear acetate for those I couldn't tuck the wheels in under the body any more due to the width of the metal chassis. When I'm getting promo's on EBAY I don't even try getting one if it has even the slightest warping. I've been very lucky so far in finding and getting unwarped cars for very good prices.

John, that looks dynamite. I love the dark green color. Great job.

Andy, that looks really nice. Great job.

This is a curbside 1956 Buick Century AMT promo that I picked up on EBAY several months ago. It has a metal chassis and chrome plated metal grille and bumpers. It's a pretty rudimentary promo which was molded in Cycolac plastic. I first sanded all the mold lines and lightly sanded the entire body to help the Duplicolor primer/sealer get a good bite to cover the red plastic body. The colors are Tamiya Mica Red and Model Master Wimbledon White. I had to mask off the windshield completely as it seemed to be "fused" to the windshield frame. The grille was given a blackwash with The Detailer and I used small, clear MV lenses for the front turn signals. The whitewall tires are from my parts stash and the wheels were also given a blackwash. A mirror was added to the door and an antenna installed. http://images61.fotki.com/v665/photos/9/3018309/13006617/1956BUICKMODELFINISHED1-vi.jpg http://images51.fotki.com/v278/photos/9/3018309/13006617/956BUICKMODELFINISHED21024x760-vi.jpg The interior was painted the same colors as the body and the carpet was flocked Black. The das was detailed with BMF and some small gauge and radio face pieces in my stash. I added shirt pin pcs. to the steering column for the shift and turn signal levers. I added an interior mirror and visors from my parts box. http://images61.fotki.com/v666/photos/9/3018309/13006617/MODELFINISHEDINTERIOR11024x763-vi.jpg http://images51.fotki.com/v282/photos/9/3018309/13006617/MODELFINISHEDINTERIOR21024x763-vi.jpg The taillights were detailed with BMF on the bottom half and white acrylic was applied for the backup lenses. The license plate is from my parts stash. http://images51.fotki.com/v299/photos/9/3018309/13006617/956BUICKMODELFINISHED31024x724-vi.jpg While this car is not perfect (none of my models are) it fills in an empty spot in my "Class of '56" buildups. Thanks for looking in on this. Any and all comments are welcomed as usual.

Great, great job Steven. That is a beautiful car.

That is pretty cool Paul. Oscar has collected a lot of junk. Nice job on the weathering. The little dent in the left eyebrow, the missing chrome on the doors, the wiper sock and the skivvies on the dash are nice touches.

If I won....... I'd pay off all of my debts, my brother's debts, my wife's sisters debts, my 2 daughters debts, buy my younger daughter a home, pay off the debts of my very best and closest friends. I'd invest a couple of million and live off the interest earned. I'd think about moving somewhere that the temps go no higher than 85 and no lower than 55 (If that place exists.) I'd have a couple of chrome laden, 50's land yachts in my garage. Then it would be the wife's turn to spend some....... Hey... they can't take our dreams away...!!!

Sorry Steven, you're right. I should have looked closer at the picture. I'm so used to seeing the '59 Dodge caps on those cars.
-
Modelhaus has those '59 Dodge Royal Lancer spinner hubcaps. IMHO they are the "ultimate" spinner hubcap and look great on any Custom car.

That looks great Alan. I love the wagon.

That is a great looking car Jarkko.

Steven, that is absolutely gorgeous. Great job.

The morons that we elected are running it...

Buzz, I have no idea what year van it was or even what make. I just remember having to load the Ampeg SVT amp that I had at the time which was VERY heavy, and then our keyboard player always needed "my" help loading and unloading his upright 66 key acoustic piano that was even heavier than my amp. Those were the days when I could actually lift heavy stuff. No way could my old bones handle doing that today.
-
Wow Steven, you and I really seem to have the same liking for these 50's land yachts. I'm finishing up a '56 Buick promo and will be starting on a '58 Lincoln as soon as it's done. After that will be a '58 Mercury. So many models... So little time...LOL.

That looks really great Steven. Is that the Modelhaus kit?
