Another midlife crisis returns to the bench
Ramfins59 replied to jaftygas's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself
Welcome to our plastic playground Joe. -
Steven, that looks great. I scored an original, unbuilt and unpainted '59 Edsel kit on EBAY a couple of months ago which was only missing the chassis which I got from Modelhaus at NNL East. It is in my To Build pile for this year with a BUNCH of other 50's cars. I hope I can get it to look as good as yours.

What a great looking color Blair. It was a pleasure meeting you at NNL East. -
Another beautiful job Al. It was great to finally meet you at NNL East. Sorry that we didn't get more "chat time".

Too many projects going on.
Ramfins59 replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've tried building more 2 or 3 models at the same time but found that I really wasn't getting anything good accomplished on any of them. My usual M.O. is to work on one at a time until I finish it, or it goes back in the box due to "complications". -
Since I got in my phase of building cars from the 1950's I've been building them mostly Stock with a few mild customs thrown in. I find that working on curbside promos obviously goes a lot quicker with no engine or chassis details to worry about but I do build the full detail kits. When building the cars Stock I'll always Google reference pictures to get the details as correct as I can. I recently broke from Stock builds to do a full Custom but that didn't wind up working out in the end so far.

Sending out a BIG THANK YOU...!
Ramfins59 replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank you Tom. It was good meeting and talking with you and Rick Forrester. Hopefully we'll see each other again at some local shows around here during the year. Yes John, it was wonderful seeing you and Amy again even though it was for only such a short time. I was working on the Fleetline this afternoon and lowered the firewall. Unfortunately it required partially disassembling the firewall, dashboard, inner fenders, etc., I'm in the process of getting it all put back together. Your 'Cuda just blew me away buddy. Stay well. -
Larry Watson style 59 Cadillac - New pics added 12/5/14
Ramfins59 replied to geetee66's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I love what you are making here. Watson's car had '59 Dodge Royal Lancer 4 bar spinner hubcaps, which you can get from Modelhaus. The Pegasus wheels you are using are a fairly good match as you said. I look forward to seeing this finished. -
I would like to personally send out a BIG THANK YOU to the following people; First of all, to my best buddy, Tom Valenta for playing chauffeur and all of his driving from his home in Hendersonville, NC, up to my home in Cranberry Twp., PA (20 or so miles north of Pittsburgh), then to Wayne, NJ for our very excellent attendance at NNL EAST, and then back to Cranberry Twp. today. Tom took pictures for Model Cars Magazine coverage of the Show, and I was his "assistant" helping to place the papers by all of the cool models. Next I would like to thank Tom Geiger and the members of the Tri State Model Car Club for putting on another spectacular event. Finally, I would like to thank Mr. Art Anderson and Mr. Dave Metzner of Moebius Models for the entertaining, informative and very educational discussions about the model car industry and automobile racing history while enjoying dinner on Saturday evening at the Tilted Kilt. All of us trying to not drool too much over the very attractive young ladies in their extremely short kilts and push-up halter tops. Like waiting for Christmas morning, it seemed to take a long time to get here but the weekend seemed to go by in a flash. My feet will be hurting for at least a couple of days, but it is well worth it for the fun we had.

Kits you have, that you will never build
Ramfins59 replied to BLOODBANE's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yeah I've got a few kits that I'll probably never build, but all my kits are opened because I always like to check out the parts in the kits for future reference. I usually wind up robbing parts from the kits for other builds. -
Ditto.
-
Art, that looks beautiful. Another fine job sir.

Ramfins59 replied to charlie8575's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Charlie that is looking great. You're a brave man to spray a lacquer paint on bare plastic without a primer/sealer. -
Bill Jay, that kit comes with all of the chrome trim (except the window trim) as separate pieces! Great kit.
-
Excellent job Steven on a beautiful car.
-
Andy, that looks really great. I love the color and the interior.

Where do you build?
Ramfins59 replied to Arbatron's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I got real tired of having to clean up my stuff at the dining room table every day for meals and when we had friends and family visit, so last year I "reinhabited" my basement model area and now I work at a rolltop desk. I have lots of lighting and everything is pretty much at arms reach. An electric heater helps take the chill off and a small radio gives me some tunes. I don't have to move anything anywhere anymore.. -
Oh man... Sorry to hear that bad news! I know the feeling unfortunately.
-
You did a beautiful job on that car Steven.
-
John, that is looking just awesome..!! Seeing this car in person on Saturday is going to be a real treat.

Go Charlie, I'm hoping that you can pull this off.
