  1. Thanks for the encouraging words Harry. The grilles and taillights are (to my eyes) the main differences between the '53 & '54 Chevy's, although I really haven't looked at both cars side by side yet. I have 1 Monogram '53 kit and I have a '54 Sedan Delivery kit that I could steal the grille from to use on another '53. Neither car is at the top of my To Do list at the moment as I was just looking to find out how good or bad the '54 kit was. I appreciate all the input.
  2. Ditto for what Jeff said.
  3. Try googling 1969 Nova and you'll get all the reference pics you'll need. You can get wire looms in photo-etched sets from Detail Master. http://www.detailmaster.com/
  4. So I take it that besides this kit being "garbage" that there isn't a decent '54 Chevy kit out there.
  5. You're absolutely right Steven. Patience is the key with EBAY. Eventually I'll get one. I've been pretty lucky with all of the other cars I've gotten on EBAY for really decent prices.
  6. Jim, why don't you tell us how you REALLY feel about the kit...
  7. Thanks Bill. I'd really like to build a Stock '54 Chevy. Guess I'll keep looking.
  8. Guy, that really is a sweet looking car. You did a great job on it.
  9. Steve, I've bid on Jr. Craftsman kits, original kits, builtups, and promos but as I said, I've always been outbid on them all. I'm only willing to go just so high in price + shipping. Of course, don't you know that the one month that an EBAY buy wasn't in my budget, one that I didn't bid on went for a really low price. I usually won't max bid any higher than Modelhaus' price.
  10. Does anyone know if this is a decent kit or not..?? Thanks for any help. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Revell-1-25-1954-54-Chevrolet-Chevy-Happy-Days-TV-Show-SEALED-/261501848907?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item3ce2b98d4b
  11. Welcome to our plastic playground Owen. You'll find a lot of other Kustom lovers here.
  12. Very nice Tom. My wife is also into those Swiffers, although she only buys them...... I'm the one who winds up actually using them. I'll have to start saving those empty containers.
  13. You've got another great project going here Steve. I've been trying to get a '59 Merc for months on EBAY but keep getting outbid. I'll most likely wind up getting a resin kit from Modelhaus down the road. The Merc is the only 1959 car that I don't yet have in my pile to be worked on. It'll happen eventually. Good luck with yours.
  14. Another great job Andy. Very sharp and very clean as usual.
  15. That looks great Stan. Nice job.
  16. Usually resin kits and/or bodies are made by cottage industry people to represent cars that were never made in plastic kit form. Some companies, like Modelhaus, make replacement parts for older kits and/or promotional models, and also complete resin kits reproductions of plastic kits that were made back in the late 50's and 60's that are no longer available, or, if they are, they are unaffordably priced for the average modeler.
  17. That's a great project Kenneth. I also notice that you're a Fosters fan.... good stuff.
  18. Steven, your goal to build every 1960 car is like my ambitious goal to try to build every car from the 1950's. It's a fun challenge isn't it???
  19. I use a rolling plastic unit with slide out drawers that I keep right next to my workbench Drawer #1 - Wheels & tires. " #2 - Engine & Chassis parts. " #3 - Interior parts. " #4 - Clear & clear red parts and clear and clear red sprue. " #5 - Body & fender parts. For my Aftermarket PE & resin detail parts I have them separated by category, in plastic bags with binder clips, hanging from cup hooks on the edge of a worktable next to my rolltop desk workbench. All within arms reach. Categories are; Bolts & fittings. Brakes & Master Cylinders. Distributors. Engine parts. Grilles. Hose. Interior parts. Sets. Trim pieces (chrome). Wheels & custom hubcaps. Wire. BMF sheets, sheets of sandpaper, sheets of styrene, and wood are kept in an office type file organizer that fits on top of my workbench. Lengths of aluminum and plastic tubing, aluminum and brass rod and wood are kept in a tall plastic container also on top of my workbench. It makes it real easy to find something if everything is kept neatly organized.
  20. Yep... all my paints , spray cans or bottles are in my basement hobby area where it is a cool, controlled temperature.
  21. Steven, that looks absolutely gorgeous. Great job.
  22. Mike, your Woody looks great so far.
  23. I'm sure you will do another one of your usual bang-up jobs on this one Steve
  24. Ray, you definitely came up with something different with this one. It's an Ed Roth-ish like creation for sure. Nice job.
  25. Ira, you are truly a madman when building your creations...... I love it.
