The problem that I've had when doing this, is that sometimes it's a real beeyotch to peel the foil off after painting. I'd use a dull toothpick to pull up an edge so I'd have enough to grab with tweezers, but usually would wind up marring or pulling up some paint at the edge. I've found that Tamiya tape works much better.

Andy, that looks really nice. It's very clean and your BMF work is excellent.

That looks absolutely dynamite Ron. You did an outstanding job of bringing this one back.

Peter, that is a gorgeous car. Great job.

Yes, MV lenses are good for a lot of model car applications. Not only are they made in larger sizes for use as headlights (except for not having the grid lines on the lens), but various other sizes and colors can be used for taillights, backup lights, interior dome/courtesy lights, dashboard indicator lights and in some cases side marker lights. As long as the light you will be using them for is round they work perfectly.

I'd love to do that Tom, but I stopped driving after I had my strokes due to left side peripheral vision loss. Besides, the wife wouldn't go for leaving her car outside during winter's snowy months.

That model brings back some memories from my modeling days back in the early 60's.

I feel your pain Tom. My wife has been filling in for a co-worker who is out recuperating from back surgery. My wife normally works part time for 6 hours daily in the afternoons as a cashier for a local Toyota dealership Service Dept. While filling in for the coworker, she has been working Full time starting at around 9 AM. She parks the car in the garage every night even when it's not raining. The garage is right under my bedroom. When she hits the button on the garage door opener at 8:30 AM the rattling sound coming up through the floor of the motor on the opener jolts me awake. I know that most people would be up and about by 8:30 AM but I'm retired and would usually get up closer to 10 AM. Yeah, I know...... I've got a tough life huh?

Dominik, you did an outstanding job on this entire model and diorama. Good work.

That Caddy is looking real good James.

I've been known to do that Tom. Usually I'll only get diecasts for cars from the 50's that are not made in kit form or promos, So far I've picked up a '53 Caddy, '55 Buick, '55 Olds (All of which I either had to assemble or disassemble to modify), the '55 Pontiac which I just got, and a '57 Studebaker Golden Hawk. I got all of these on EBAY for very reasonable or cheap prices. I've also got my eye on a couple of others at the moment.

The mailman delivered a Franklin Mint 1/24 '55 Pontiac diecast that I got on EBAY for a good price. Now I don't have to redo the '55 Pontiac promo that I have and don't have to make an interior for it. Another slot filled in my "Class of '55".

That looks really cool. Looks like cotton, painted or dyed with red, orange and yellow, lit from underneath probably with LED lights.

Would that have been Peils Beer??? Or is it Piels..??

Wow, you really hit a home run on that deal.

Greg, thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. I can totally relate to that story.

Very nice Ray. I've got one of those in my TO DO pile.

Pete and Harry, I totally agree with both of you. Adding details is the fun...!!! It may add more time to complete the model but who cares... it's not a race and there's no time limit on finishing a model. Some models get more detail than others but they are all fun to build.

OK. It's not model related but in a way it's plastic related. I got my new full dentures today and they're made of acrylic. They fit, feel and look great. My old ones were partials and I had to "reglue" them (Poligrip) in sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. I doubt I'll have to be doing that with the new ones. I had a fear of dentists since I was a teenager due to a very painful experience with one. Not taking care of my teeth and not going to a dentist for 40+ years obviously caused me to have what few teeth I had left to be pulled and get dentures. My advice to everyone is to take care of your own teeth so you don't have to buy new ones.
