  1. Steve, some of the pictures I've Googled show the car with a 2 Tone roof and some don't. I'm going with a body colored roof on this model.
  2. Thanks again everyone. Philo, no, I've never painted anything with that shade of paint yet...... Is that Copper paint? Hench, Steven is right on everything he said. Your only option is to find one of these promos on EBAY or from a vendor at a model show...... but be prepared to spend some bucks for one. Steve, if you're not too much of a stickler about accuracy, you could use Modelhaus' '59 Dodge interior for the '59 DeSoto. That's what I have planned for the one I have in my TO DO pile.
  3. That looks pretty cool Manuel.
  4. Thanks guys, I appreciate your encouraging words. Bill, yes I did get very lucky several times on my EBAY bids. I did get outbid many, many times on several cars but patience pays off and another one eventually comes along for a much cheaper price. I was able to get this one for $42 + $7 shipping. I consider it a real score when I can pick up one of these old promos for under $50. No I wasn't planning on using the Chrysler chassis on this car. I'm leaving it as a Curbside model. Charlie, I'm a fan of everything from the 50's. Jeff, no, I have no plans to do any conversion work on this car.
  5. Hi gang. I'm moving along on this '59 Chrysler New Yorker promo that I picked up on EBAY last year. I sanded the mold lines and primed and painted it with a Duplicolor Sand color and Tamiya Red Brown in the side trim insert. It was just clearcoated with Duplicolor today so it will be a couple of days before I can polish it out and then do the BMF trim work. This did not come with an interior so I'll be using a resin interior from Modelhaus from a '59 Dodge. All of the interior parts are taking a bath in Westleys Bleche White. I'm planning on a Brown and Tan color combo for it. More to come as it happens. Thanks for looking in on this and as always, all comments and critiques are welcome.
  6. Congrats Jim. Glad everything turned out well so far.
  7. I did the first of several deals with Doobie in the UK and he is honest, up front and speedy. I highly recommend dealing with him. He is a great guy.
  8. That looks really great. It could use some BMF for the window and side trim and handles, etc...
  9. Yuri, that looks really great. Excellent job in detailing the engine compartment.
  10. I've put them on several of my Custom models. I usually carefully drill a small hole or depression in the steering wheel and glue on a round headed shirt pin head that I'll either leave chrome, or I'll paint it a color that matches the interior.
  11. Shouldn't really be much to worry about Jim. I've had those tests several times and the drugs just "fool" your heart by making it feel like you've been doing strenuous exercise. The attending staff is there ready to give you the "antidote" to the drugs and immediately take care of any serious issues.
  12. Any of these would be VERY COOL...!!! Although I have all but the Buick in either promos or a diecast. All new kits would be just awesome.
  13. I have good luck using clear enamel paint applied to the rim of the headlight bucket with a toothpick.
  14. I'm with Steve Guthmiller on this. I've been a fan of the prewired distributors made by M.A.D. (Morgan Automotive Detail. They are a great product and make wiring an engine so much easier and realistic looking. http://www.madmodeling.com/store/
  15. That looks really great in Black David.
  16. Tulio, that looks really great. Excellent job.
  17. Great pictures Tom. Thanks for sharing them with us.
  18. That's pretty cool Felix. I love watching the Mecum Auctions.
  19. I am very happy today. I've been trying to get a 1959 Mercury promo for over a year. Each time I bid on one on EBAY I get outbid with the prices going over $100. I did my usual EBAY search earlier and lo and behold there was a brand new listing for a complete, built, with an interior, Craftsman kit with a Buy It Now price of $60 + $8 shipping. I snapped it up instantly. Just yesterday I received $63 in my PayPal account from a sale so I only had to lay out $5. WoooHooo...!!!
  20. Here's a '57 Dodge... And a '58 Dodge... and a '59 Dodge...... How about a '59 Plymouth......
  21. How about these fins...... 1956 DeSoto 1958 Cadillac
  22. You've got to understand that Modelhaus usually doesn't have an inventory of their stuff already made. They cast each order's items as the orders arrive, so it may take awhile depending on the amount of orders they have at the time and also if the parts ordered have to be sent out for chroming, then go back to them for packing and shipping.
  23. I made a new modeling friend. Dave Chivers (Doobie) in the UK. He is another lover of 1950's cars who contacted me by PM and we are currently becoming fast friends and doing some deals. What a great hobby this is with such great people, no matter where we live.
  24. I do believe that all Modelhaus kits do come with a chassis that has all details molded in. You can see what each of their kits contain when you click on them; http://www.modelhaus.com/ I hope this helps.
