  1. John, I wasn't picking on you by any means. I don't expect you to get in over your head on this, especially with all your firsthand knowledge and experience as a 1:1 auto "technician". You obviously know all the little details of a car and what you can and can't replicate on a model. It is a learning experience watching this project progress. Most of us would not even attempt to put in the details that you are doing. Keep it going my friend. By the way John, I'll be posting some progress shots of my "Tunaboat" replica project shorty.
  2. I hear ya Bryan. I think we all fall into that "trap" once in a while. Overcomplicationitis can always delay a build, and sometimes even squash it
  3. Welcome to our plastic playground Gary, and also thanks for your service to our great country.
  4. As a long time member of the LIARS Club, even though I don't live on Long Island in NY anymore, I'll always remember when one of the club members (Anthony Cairo) said that he tried to build each part of a model as if it was a model itself...... and if you do it all right, when you put all of those little models together to make one BIG model, you'll usually come out with an exceptional piece. While I don't go to the extremes that Anthony did, I do try to do my best to detail everything as correctly and as neatly as I can.
  5. Talk about goin' over the top with detailing John...??? ............and you were supposedly trying to "start off easy until you "got your chops back"............uh huh......sure......right......
  6. That woody looks really great Bruce.
  7. I have used clear enamel to glue in headlight lenses. Dip a toothpick in clear enamel to pick up a drop and then run the toothpick around the headlight bezel where the lens will sit. Dried paint makes an excellent glue. For kit glass I use a few drops of CA glue at the edges to hold it in place and then run a bead of Elmer's clear school glue around the rest of the glass.
  8. Yeah its a bit chiily here...... it was 5 degrees last night with a way below Zero wind chill.
  9. Way to go Jim...... Keep on posting.
  10. Yeah I just checked my reference picks too, cause I was sure that wasn't a '51 Buick. I love all the early 50's Buicks.
  11. Oh geeze...... here he goes again. Mr. imagination is at work again.
  12. Obviously never paint when it is raining or very humid, whether you paint indoors or out. Temps usually won't affect painting. Warm your spray cans in warm water for a half an hour or so before spraying as it helps the paint to flow better..
  13. Excellent looking cars Tulio.
  14. That looks great Boban, and very creative.
  15. Harry, you continue to WOW us all with your detailing. Fantastic job.
  16. Wow, that color is awesome Erik.
  17. Jim, that looks really great.
  18. Great pictures Marcos. I love those new PE motorcycle / T-Bucket wheels by Norm Veber......have to pick up some of those. By the way, congratulations on becoming the new President of the M,A,M.A. Club.
  19. Occasionally It happens to me when I start final assembly on a particular model and then find that things don't fit together right even though I test fitted everything beforehand. It is usually a resin kit where either the interior doesn't fit right after the dashboard is glued in place, or, the entire interior doesn't fit right after the glass is installed. At that point after trimming and fitting several times with no success, instead of stepping on the darn thing, I put it all away and will come back to it usually months later with a fresh outlook and usually solve the problem and get everything together.
  20. That's a great looking truck Jim.
  21. Yeah Carl, it seems like a lifetime to me too...LOL
  22. Here comes another classy build from Harry.
  23. Sorry Harry, it's too late for that. Both of my daughters graduated from college 8 and 10 years ago.
