Thanks Charlie, it's amazing how much cool stuff you find, that you forgot you had, when you start cleaning up and digging through boxes.
-
Yep, another beauty Tulio.

Not bad Jim. I haven't seen this kit built in quite a while.
-
That looks nice Jim......definitely different.

Thanks very much for all of your kind comments everyone. Richard, I don't know if it is a baby alligator or what. It is a plastic piece I found in a parts box, I have no idea which kit it came out of. I painted it flat field drab green. Gerald & Ron, I have no idea who the figure is supposed to represent. It is a resin cast figure found in a parts box. The parking meter came with the display base and the Model Car Parking sign came out of an old SA issue.

Andy, this project looks great. As far as the wheels go, maybe you could just dull down the chrome a little. -
While waiting about a week for the enamel clearcoat on my '59 Dodge "Tunaboat" replica to fully dry, I got bored and decided to clean, straighten up and reorganize my basement model workshop area. I moved some cabinets and shelving units around, and boxed up a bunch of really old built-ups to make some room in my display cases for 1950's cars that I have yet to build. I threw out a bunch of empty boxes, dusted and swept up the place...... almost like Spring Cleaning. I still have a few more things to clean up. While I was cleaning I ran across an old display case with a small sidewalk, sewer grate and sewer cover, and a parking meter. I decided to try to make a small photo backdrop/base for taking pics of finished models. I have a Fujimi Garage kit that only has 2 walls, one of which has a space to cut out for the door. I cut the door opening out and sprayed the wall with dark gray primer. The fence is made from wooden coffee stirrers that I dipped in Weatherall to age them. I painted the door frame with dark brown paint, glued on some cigar box wood veneer and added the door lock, handle and a photo-etched metal number to the face of the door. Next I added the rear end window piece from the Boot Hill Express kit to the wall for a window. I also added 2 lanterns from the Boot Hill kit as outdoor lights, detailing them with Brass Metalizer paint. The cigar smoking figure is a resin piece I found in a parts box. The cigar in his mouth is a painted piece of a toothpick. For a little humor, I added a small painted alligator by the sewer grate. Here's how it turned out. BTW, the enamel clearcoat on the '59 Dodge finally dried enough for me to be able to polish it out and start applying all the BMF. I should be able to post some progress pics of it in a day or so. Thanks for looking. All comments are welcomed.

Usually in months when my budget is a little tighter than others and therefore I don't have the extra bucks to place bids on cars, that's exactly the time that a model I would have liked to bid on will wind up selling for under $40. If I was bidding on it, the price would have skyrocketed to at least twice that or even reached into 3 figures...!!! And the sniping thing...... that really bugs me. I know it's part of the game but it's still aggravating when you think you've got a car won and you get sniped in the last 5 seconds...!!! All in all though, it's really no great loss if I don't win. There'll always be another one down the road,

John, try either an "A" or a "D" round wound guitar string for that E-brake cable...... should be about the right size.
-
Ray, that is looking good so far. Keep up the good work.
-
Peter, that Bird is just awesome. Great job and great imagination. Hats off to you.

That coupe looks great Blair. Nice job.
-
Tulio, that Merc looks great. They look so nice in stock form. Great job.

That's looking great Chad.

You might try using a polishing kit to get the glue off, and providing you don't polish through the paint down to the primer or plastic, you can then clearcoat it which should shine it all up again.
-
Eric, that looks really great.

No thanks Greg...... I didn't even bother trying. I have NEVER been into NASCAR, or ANY type of racing...... Just not my thing. Customs, Street Rods, 50's cars are where my likes and interests lie.

Richard, this car is looking great. Your custom modifications are very well done. Keep up the great work. -
I'm like a lot of people here. I'll place a bid, with a Max Bid, and won't go any higher. For instance, if the car I'm bidding on is offered by Modelhaus, then my Max Bid is a little less than Modelhaus' price + shipping. If I lose its no big deal, I'll either bid on another one or just buy it from Modelhaus. I usually see quite a few models or promos on EBAY that I'd love to have, but common sense and a limited budget keep me from bidding on them all. I've won my share of stuff and have enough right now, along with kits I already had to keep me busy for quite awhile..

OK Greg, Drag Cars were never my thing either...... I got a score of 36%.
