  1. No Tommy. I only built the Impala model about 2 years ago. and I haven't seen the owner of the real Impala since about 1962.
  2. John you're a madman. This build is getting better with each update.
  3. Cool looking car Al.
  4. Today Mother Nature was good and gave me a great day for painting outside here. I primed and painted the body of the wagon Duplicolor Black. I'll give it a day to dry and then I'll apply the BMF trim and clearcoat it. I had also done some detailing of the dashboard... This project is coming along nicely so far. I added some sheet plastic to raise the front seat a bit and to fill in the sides and back of the rear seat. (I "borrowed" the seats from a '57 Ford Fairlane kit (I have 2) and once that all dries I can sand, prime, paint and install them. Then it will be time to make the side windows from clear acetate. Further updates to follow as completed. Thanks for checking in on this build.
  5. Great looking model Emmanuel.
  6. Thank you so very much Lee, Michael, Gramps, Tony, David and Mark. I sincerely appreciate all of your encouragement. Mark, the Buick is a resin kit from The Modelhaus. Their stuff is awesome. The castings are perfect with next to no cleanup needed. They're almost like working on a plastic kit. A little pricey but well worth it IMHO.
  7. Thanks very much Lee and Ira.
  8. Great work as usual Tom.
  9. Beautiful build Fred. Great job.
  10. OK Manny. Good luck with your project. I look forward to meeting you at the NNL East show in a couple of weeks.
  11. Here ya go Tommy. First of all, there's a bit of a story that goes along with this car... I'll keep it short. When I was growing up back in the Bronx, NY around 1959, my stepfather was the superintendent of the apartment bldg. where we lived. A guy who also lived in that building owned a '58 Chevy Impala that he customized the "bolt-on" way. It was Black, nosed and decked, with a tube grille, had half-moon headlight shields, 4 bar spinner front hubcaps, lake pipes, cruiser skirts, twin mirrors, dummy spotlights and swept back antenna's, 6 '59 Caddy bullet taillights and a full continental kit. He would park that car at the curb in front of the apartment building every day...... and I would drool over it every day...!!! His car got me into liking cars and building models. I built this model using the Revell '58 Impala kit with Bob Dudek lake pipes, Modelhaus '59 Dodge Royal Lancer hubcaps and a Modelhaus resin continental kit. I made the rear bumper extension myself using pieces from the 2 rear bumpers in the Revell kit. The Black Widow name on the connie kit is my own addition. I'm glad you like it because it is one of my favorite models.
  12. Thanks very much guys. I got the convertible boot cover in today's mail from Edsel Dan (Thanks again Daniel). As soon as I get it painted and attached I'll post updated pictures with it.
  13. Yeah I'm all stoked up for it..!!
  14. Nice looking build Brett. Great job.
  15. Thanks a lot Christopher and Tommy. Thanks again John, I kook forward to seeing you and Amy in a couple of weeks.
  16. I would suggest using a good primer/sealer on the bodies before repainting them. I've had good luck with Duplicolor primer/sealer.
  17. Now I'm a fan of "Bolt-On" customizing, but this thing is just ridiculous...!!!
  18. Here's a good one for John Teresi to build.... It would fit in with his Freakshow build.....
  19. The Modelhaus has a '49 Buick Roadmaster.
  20. Welcome to our plastic world John.
  21. Thanks a lot John, Bill, Sam and Bruce. John, thanks man... Yeah I "usually" try to have all the colors on a model "flow together". I don't want the cars to look like a circus act...!!! I really haven't made up my mind as to what's next yet, although I'm sure it will be something in the 50's. I still have to finish up that '57 Ford wagon for my friend in MN.before I get started on another of my own projects.
  22. Thanks very much Niko. Good luck with your Pro Streeter.
  23. While I've never done it yet myself, I'm told by good modeling friends that it is definitely OK, and sometimes a good idea, to clearcoat over BMF. It will prevent the foil from lifting over time due to both the adhesive "letting go" and constant handling making it move or lift.
  24. Great collection Al. You sure do like "longroofs".
  25. Thank you very much Alan, Bill, Ben and David. I appreciate your Kind words.
