I used tamiya silver leaf with urethane clear.
-
Lookin good. What color is that?

Calling this one done for now. Still need to fit the front friction shocks, machine a moon tank for the trunk and put in the battery box. And I’m still not set on this air cleaner

Revell chopper
zaina replied to zaina's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Well, after all the work on the paint it has to get thrown in the pond. Cracking started after the first coat of candy. I think it was caused from the silver tamiya base coat. Aaarrrrgggg!!!! After I calm down for a while I will repaint. -
This thing has all the right looks to it. Those chassis are very fiddely to build but if done right and with some beefing up with metal rods, they are a very accurate represention if the real thing.

Ok, back at this one...at least for now...hopefully I can keep the momentum going and finish it. I got the interior parts paints black today as well as the deck lid hinge all done. I also filled the seam between the top and the body...why didn’t revell just make the body one piece? Maybe there will be a stock roof version later?

Very nice. What paint and color did you use for the roof?

Picked this up at a show a couple weeks back and couldn’t help diving right in. Lowered stance and astros. I am thinking black and gold but that could change. Got everything but the body ready for paint

thanks for the kind words. As far as the colors in the picture I really couldn’t tell you if that was an option. This is the only car I’ve seen on a google search with such colors. Molar did do a lot of different things as far as options go so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a factory option....I just really liked the way that it looked. and the dog dishes, this is the third molar build that I have used steelies and dishes. I just really like the look of it. More of a sleeper look. I am really into 20’s and 30’s hot rods as well so steelies and hub caps kinda tend to wind up on a lot of my builds.

Ok, now that my ford pickup is done I decided to bring this one back out... and hopefully keep at it till it’s done. I was able to get the base coat on this weekend. I hope to get the decals on in the next few days and then shoot the clear. Here is where it sits.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your comments.

thanks. Paint is light gun metal by tamiya. And this is the firestones kit

Back at it again!! Was able to wet sand and buff a couple of dust nibs out of the clear and get it all bmf'd up. Also machined a brake booster but couldn't get the pic to load so will show that later. Here is how it looks

Forgot to show the chassis. I built my own exhaust. Not the greatest but better than the kit pieces. Also couldn't help a mock up.

I was staring at the interior tub forever trying to figure out how to mask the door panels. I decided to cut the side off for ease of masking. Glued it back together and added seat belts...interior done. Also found the time and ambition to clear the body parts.

Meng F350 welding rig
zaina replied to zaina's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I did machine the bottles and build most of the Lincoln welder a while ago. The oxy bottles are short because you won't see most of them once they are in the rack. -
