  1. Got this kit on trade...thanks MrMopar. So far I'm having fun with the assembly. I probably have ten hours in it so far and not even half done cleaning things up and gluing sub assemblies. There must be about 400 pieces in the kit. I plan to do a box stock build that is heavily weathered.
  2. It's one of the most ill fitting kits out there. I wish revell would do a new tool of the 56 as I have one in 1:1. It was the first kit I ever built as a kid and didn't turn out too bad for a 9 year old. I've since tried to build it three different times and never finishes because it fit so bad. I do have this kit in my stash with hopes of some day doing it some justice. Will probably end up glueing the doors shut.

Haven't really looked too far into that yet. I do know that I don't like how incorrect they are and will do something with them and then use bmf for the trim.

Thanks. I did make them. They are actually different diameters so I need to pick the size I like better and make three more to match.

Yep. Gonna make it look like this.
  6. Wow!!!! Very cool build. Top notch scratch building skills. One question that was maybe covered earlier. What did paint did you use on the interior and seats? It looks exactly like the real thing

Thanks for the nice comments. I got the parts pack tires and they look great. I decided to use the bigger ones in the rear and smaller ones in the front to give it a slight rake. Wheels are painted and I decided to do a spare in the trunk like the real car.
  10. thanks. I sure did.
  11. You sir are very talented!!! Just be very careful when welding that thin of aluminum. It won't take much heat before blowing out.

Small update. Did some work on the interior. Just need to finish the seat belts so that I can glue everything together. Made a dipstick for the hemi. And made the hold down for the top of the master cylinder and made brake lines. I also saw the yellow dot in reference pics so I decided to add it to the brake booster.
  13. I've used rustoleum before and it worked great. I usually use the 2x coverage primer. I've sprayed different brands of paint over it with no problems.

Ok. After being put away for a while I decided to bring this one back out. I was looking at the wheels and tires and just wasn't liking the way they looked. The rear tires were too tall and wide and didn't fit the wheel well very good. The rear wheels didn't look like mopar wheels and the fronts weren't quit deep enough. I found the steelies in the 50 Ford convertible kit and liked them way better. Right now I'm using the kit tires but might buy the parts pack polyglas tires so that I could have white letters and also maybe mix up the two sizes for big and littles. I would really like to have wider tires with a deeper dish rim in the rear but can't find any suitable tires. Here is how it sits now.
  15. I actually saw a screen side truck at a car show this weekend. It was a Grahm Brothers truck.
  16. Thanks. The wheels...I think are from the Texico 50 Chevy pickup.
  17. Thanks for all the great comments guys. I had a lot of fun with this one.
  18. Absolutely legal in the states. See trucks like this every day here in Nebraska.
  19. Interior done and body painted and mocked up.
  20. I should be there too.
  21. Got the engine detailed and added some rust and grease to everything.
  22. Looks good. I used a set of mid 90's ford flare side mirrors with a little modification on my dually. They look pretty close to stock dodge mirrors.
  23. Got some painting done this weekend. Here is a mockup before I start adding the rust and grime.
