  1. l've been quiet long enough. The anticipation is killing me!!
  2. James, l've gotten pretty good results with Krylon brilliant silver, then dry buffing with good old Fruit of the looms! the cloths texture is smooth enough to not scratch, but rough enough to polish out nicely. Krylon is also fairly cheap & that big can goes a long way! Bart.
  3. This is beautiful. Stunning! l could go on & on, but you'd get ALL my adjectives! l Love the tires & rims on here. They might steal the show on a mere mortal car, but not with all this yellow & chrome!
  4. WAY out of the box! l really like this one. Bart.
  5. Love it! Are those rims from a '37 Ford kit?
  6. One of my faves! love the red w/white stripes. Bart.
  7. ......That eluded me as well 1st time l read it!
  8. First kit l ever built, in '71-'72(?) maybe. l have a new one l kind of want to build something like yours. Great combination of parts box choices. lt turned out really nice! l wish l had some clear glass. The red cuts down your color choices! Your green & silver looks VERY cool! Bart.
  9. Did anyone mention velcro (sp?) A lot of kids can't tie shoes because of this technological advancement. But l still love the stuff!
  10. lt's starting to sound like semantics to me. apparently, if you are a fan of rat rods, then call it a rat rod. lf your not a fan, call it a hot rod. This has become a matter of opinon rather than fact. l can see from what l've read here that the only TRUE difference between a rat rod & a hot rod is who owns it or who is commenting on it.
  11. l forgot about the Cadillac sedanettes! Beautiful cars. Are trucks considered? l've always thought the waterfall grille & fender mounted headlights on the '41-'46 Chevy truck were an awesome design. Bart.
  12. Decent job on a tough conversion, Jake. Looks like the scoops are a little too far in. They should be a little closer to the edges of the hood. l like the color combo, Plum Crazy is hard to beat! Like the door handles too! Bart.
  13. lmagineeriing at it's finest! Kudos. Bart.
  14. OK. Definitely no big deal! lf l can find one reasonably, it's going in a kit-bashed custom '61 Starliner. So factory correctness doesn't matter. Thanks a bunch! Bart.
  15. Sorry for your loss. l will be watching with great interest! hope you get back to the bench soon. Bart.
  16. ..........Oh no you didn't!!! Say it ain't so.
  17. .....Is there a big difference other than the rear package shelf? l could always add on to that if needed? Thanks, Bart.
  18. l really had my mind set on the '64, l suppose l could do some slicin' & dicin' on it & come up with a little more detail. Thanks a lot, Chuck. Now to see if l can find one! Bart.
  19. Thanks, Chuck. l'm building a '61 Starliner & found a beautiful example in "Street Rodder" that used this interior. l'm planning to open the doors, so this might not be the best way to go. How about the '66 Galaxie?
  20. l remember seeing this kit on shelves in the late '80s or early '90s. Does anyone know if it was an XL, & if so, how good is the interior detailed? Are they hard to find today? Thanks, Bart.
  21. Still loving this one. Nothing cooler than a "stock" car from the good old days when it was real.
  22. Thanks a bunch, Jonathan!! l'll let you know when l get it! Lotsa great detailed parts in the '60 kit! l like the '60, but l've always liked the '61 much better. l've been waiting to do this build for a long time & finally got a '61 body thanks to edrothoo! l also found my missing sheet styrene while looking for the '60 glass, so l plan to open the doors & trunk as well. Thanks again & l'll be following your build, Bart.
  23. l believe, like most styles, it all started as a budget thing. Hot rodders want to go fast. With a limited budget, many couldn't afford paint immediately so they drove them as soon as possible. Unable to afford to buy everything new, guys would use whatever they had on hand or could get cheap or free. To be on the road & in the wind has always been the ultimate goal, some either couldn't afford or didn't want to take the time to "finish" their ride. Many folks actually began liking the look of these rods. l liken it to getting big brothers hand me down pants that were too big and "sagged". That also became cool fashion! l personally don't care for ratrods OR saggy britches, but l certainly respect the creativity & ingenuity that goes into these rods. You can keep the pants, though.......l agree, Chuck. A hot rod HAS to be offensive to someone!!! Great point!
