Changed title of post because switched over to Mercedes Racer kit.Glued Stutz frame together wrong. Will cut it with Dremel later. This is a JJ Lloyd issue.Made in the USA. Cedar Rapids IA. Nice place that is. So is Iowa City. Those are some bags they put the parts trees in.So you can use them around the farm later I guess. Snipped off some parts with the new pair of Xuron sprue tree cutters. Kind of fun.Did cut off part of radiator though. You can get carried away with them. This frame you glue two crossmembers between the two frame halves. Going to look it over carefully this time. Test fit and double check. Don't want to make same mistake as on Stutz.

Round 2 AMT Advertising Suggestions

Brainstorm here. 'Jimmy Flintstone:consultant to AMT.' Include JF parts in box! Get them to run off current add on parts; Really should be separate boxes though. Being a nostalgia buyer current customs do irritate me. Fair is fair though. Build kit versions for the new crowd. -
Round 2 AMT Advertising Suggestions

' Maybe the masses respond better to pretty pictures and eschew verbosity? ' Give us both. Look at the difference between then and now. 'Opening hood!!' Now.'Opening hood.' Then look at the sidebar. 'Car Craft Magazine Consultants to AMT'.'George Barris King of Kustomizers:Latest Ideas and Innovations' Now. Nothing. How about 'Model Cars Magazine:Consultants to AMT'? What the advertising needs from AMT now is more energy. -
Round 2 AMT Advertising Suggestions

'you mentioned advertising. If you mean info on their own website' Yes. That's it! The older advertising has more excitement in it. Like the '64 Mercury Marauder had the first engine to hit 400hp. But I mean the speed parts and customizing parts make building the kit exciting on all the kits. They should say 'Use the custom parts to build your entry for the model show contest!' Doesn't matter if there isn't a model show for a 1000 miles. It's the idea that puts a little spark in building it. To give Round 2 credit, it looks like they came up with a new painting for the Cobra and tow vehicle kit. Maybe having two pages on the website for each kit would be a start. Put a painting of the car at a car show or the race track in there too.. -

' Is this more in line of what you are thinking ?' Yes. Now transpose those pictures to the Round 2 website 'sell' page. I guess it's a question of satisfaction. The Prestige kit will always be my first choice if there is a choice. More is better. More of those little pictures on box sides. More extra parts and versions in the kit. BTW: Old ad says 'From the Kats at Kit City'. See the connection there? Kats-Kits? Have not seen that in the new Round 2 Kat talk. -

Oops! Looks like Mr Barrow works for Megahobby. Looks like no discount from them! 'If you're a reformer don't expect to be welcome at the country club' Words to live by! Getting back on track. The Round 2 articles are very informative. Should be one for every kit. -

' I'd much rather not say anything than be wrong. ' A bold move. So you writing is dollar driven. The dollars you get for writing that they pay you expecting to make dollars? Sounds rather mechanical. The guy that writes the articles about kits for Round 2 sounds like he enjoys his work. That he would find an outlet to say that even if he wasn't getting paid. -

' So it seems to me , what you're after is a "Kit Review" ? ' ' Round 2's website isn't really set up for consumer use. ' These two comments are deflecting attention from a simple issue. Info about what's in the kit. It is asking a lot to lay out money on a hit or miss proposition. 'Yeah. It has all the parts from every issue' or 'Oh no.All they gave me was parts for stock build'' The articles on Round 2 are full of info and pictures of parts. The one page listings could use as much of that they can fit in. ' -

Found the solution. http://www.collectormodel.com/#sthash.tM0jCqGB.AvHSkpbm.dpbs Round 2 website has this 'news' about SOME of the kits. So.The solution is MORE OUTPUT from this writer. There in the midwest so they ought to take to take him to a diner in the morning. Stuff him full of a big farm breakfast. Then set him down in front of the computer with high sugar high caffeine Sundrops soda. Then they would get articles for EVERY kit. They have 'trumped' me in a way.(old meaning of trump like in playing cards). They can provide the info. They just need it to be for every kit. -

The box is shown on the page so there is no need for them to tell you more about it. I am talking about the 'sell' pages at Round 2 listing the kit. Suggestions are to instead say something like: 'Build the optional 421 engine with chrome headers and 2 4 barrel intake for more power!' 'Custom Halibrand racing wheels included!' 'Build your car and get it ready for the custom car show like the pros do!' Sure the box is selling the kit but the pages about the kits should have new info. -

Sounds like there is a consensus of 'Let's just leave it alone'. 'Let's not rock the boat'. Well. Not good enough! Take a look at this ad from '61. Sure the model lineup now is available somehow on Round 2 site. That doesn't grab people with an idea. They're showing the custom parts and an engine in this ad. On other page they show prominently it's a Trophy kit. Actually part of the 'Trophy Team'. Then it shows you different versions you can build with it. The key here is 'showing' you. Current website you bother to go to link and YOU DON'T SEE ANYTHING! Don't know if that is intentional or what. -

' You can click on the "Support" tab, then click on the instruction sheet for each kit and view all the parts ' That's right handy! Constructive suggestions I've made still stand in spite of that. They should highlight outstanding features of kit. Pitch the kit a little. -
Round 2 AMT Advertising Suggestions

' Yet iirc, it does indeed share most, if not all the "little painted pictures up like on side of box." Which you then decry that they "need to do things a different way." ' Yes.SHOW the painted pictures on the page.Nobody said change the pictures. You came up with that. 'I think the retro style boxes are cool. No real need to change them.' For the second time. They need to spend LESS TIME talking about the box and MORE TIME saying what's in the box. The emphasis should be on high performance parts and custom parts that come with the kit. Round 2 is working hard to make the kits. The ad copy just lays there kind of lifeless. -

Let me clarify this. They should put less info in there about the boxes and more about what's IN THE BOX! Supercharger? HD Rear End? 4 speed? Automatic? Bucket seats? Tachometer? Console? Rollbar? Body options? Spoiler? Custom grills? Wheels and tire? Slicks for drags? Molded in white? What color? Then there's the copy like in the old ad's. 'Build this '66 Nascar racer!' 'Feel the excitement of 200 mph racing!' There selling excitement for little kids. I look at the old boxes and ads to get a better feel for new kits out today. -
http://round2corp.com/product/1966-ford-galaxie/ Here's the info on Round 2 website for '66 Ford Galaxie. I think it would help them to look at past advertising copy. What size engine does the kit come with? How many engines. More mechanical features please. It says many parts. What parts? Please put those little painted pictures up like on side of box. They need to do things a different way. What's up with all the info about the packaging. The box is used as a 'paint booth' or flattened out to work on kit on. Like how they are bringing out lots of kits but they could up their approach.

Well. There is a little problem. Glued those front frame stubs on wrong. You had to hold them 'up and in' when you glued them. I only held them 'up'. Have and evil plan. Will jump over to same kind of kit. A Lindberg Mercedes Racer. This time pay a little more attention to what I'm doing. Will cut apart and fix Stutz later.

Going to back up a little here. Will mix resin and catalyst on a sheet of cardboard. Have been doing same thing to test some glues.

Fenderless Ford Roadster Hot Rods

" Plus, you like old school hot rods, and this kit hasn't changed a whole lot over time, so it does have that vintage feel to it. ' Appreciate it. Not really hellbent on building one. Just noticed how good a fenderless roadster looked the other day. Will look into that part about Revell kits haven't changed over the years. I remember they had finer detail than other kits way back. They were known as a better kit. They used to be right there in Venice on Glencoe street. -

That's a valid criticism. Sorry though the 'I hope you can' goes in the grafitti garbage can. It's a review of sorts. About the AMT '36 Ford kit and the '34 Ford resin body. The 40 fenderless hot rod looks like a no-go. i could have sworn I have seen other year Ford's beside T's, A's, 34's and '36 ones. Looks like the current trend is full fendered. A stripped down car will take throwing around a little better than those. These current ones look more like cruisers instead of hot rods or go fast's. I like a rod built for go not show. -

Okay. Forum post graftiti time is over! Those last two posts have nothing to do with Ford hot rods. Will probably pick up up a '34 Ford body from Jimmy Flintstone. Painting it as far as I'm going to go. Will paint it a 50's custom mix color. Purple or maroon would look good.See what Testor's dark blue enamel looks like. I don't think metal flakes really look 50's. May try a Model Master pearl. Be interesting to see what a resin body is like.
