  1. Tom On the side of they might bring it back, let me point out the Mustang airplane model kit. The one that is see through and drops the bomb and lowers the landing gear on the stand. Revell has lots of practice digging up the old Renwal kits with their SSP re releases. I say, they might bring back the Visible Chassis. Thanks!
  2. Builders Anybody know when Revell is going to re release this kit? "The most impressive model kit you'll ever build!"-side of box Regular Guy
  3. Mr Bartrop To refine this request, let's make the XR6, Wilhelm's Wonder, the Silhouette and the Lindberg Diamond Duster, These are Show Rods not based on a production car, so we'll leave the King "T" out for now. They are MIA in Round 2's flurry of releases's since their reinvigoration 3 or 4 years ago. I'm doing my duty as a modeler to say what I'd like to see re released, whether their stock skyrockets after they release the kits is their side of the fence, Like taking the car in to get if fixed, just tell them the symptoms, don't tell them how to fix it, Thanks!
  4. Builders To give AMT/MPC credit they brought back the Piranha/Spy Car, AMTronic and the Transporter. Those are all examples of early 60's Space Program inspired styling, So what's missing are the 100% original creation Showrods. As far as AMT's ability to build these, they can. They have what they call Model Makers on their payroll, They can produce any missing parts either from an original part or adding to or removing from another part, They can also make a part from scratch from a picture or drawings, AMT just needs the will to bring out the flagships of modeling, the custom show rod, Regular Guy
  5. Horsepower You got me there, the XR6 is a bonafide showcar made from the ground up, The XR6 resembles the Eldon Invader and the Liindberg Duster in the front end, The XR6, Diamond Duster, Invader and Silhouette all had the 'Electric Razor' front end and were all tight 2 passenger roadsters. The XR6 was cycle fendered and the others were full body. Did think of the Ala Kart during these posts and forgot to put it in. AMT has a Chrysler slant 6, it's in the Deora. They could re issue the parts they do have in 'Custom Packs' and put a Skill Level 4 required on them. Maybe they could get the molds declared Historic somethingsl because they are. Any other AMT/MPC showcars we missed? Regular Guy
  6. Alan There's the AMT Fireball 500 in their 'stable' too. I stopped and looked at the Green Hornet car one time in Southern California, It was sitting in a chain link fence lot, The interior was very rough, I think it was a faraway shot car, not a close up car, Those type cars were probably inspired by mid 60's altereds with the roofs cut off, AMT ought to preserve these kits as part of America's history. More time goes by the harder it'll be to restore these kits, Thanks!
  7. Snake Yours truly owns a Dream Rod, the Car Show edition, complete with rotating display stand! To give AMT credit, yes they have re issued the Chuck Barris Surf Woody and the Ice Cream wagon. Revell has been doing a good job of re issuing Big Daddy Ed Roth's Outlaw and Beatnik Bandit, I think AMT should reissue Wilhelm's Wonder, Tom Cognotti's King "T" and Bill Cushenberry's Silhouette, .If that's just not possible(the Wonder and the "T"), they ought to re issue whatever parts they do have in a plastic bag and put it on the Autoworld website, They've done it before, they had transparent blue leftover Hippie Hemi bodies for $10 bagged awhile ago, Thanks!.
  8. Builders http://round2corp.com/product/ice-cream-truck-george-barris-commemorative-edition/ Looks like the King "T" is a wild custom of a full fendered model T. Might as well throw in the AMT Silhouette on the Wish list, but there are plenty of those around, Any other forgotten Show Cars that AMT or MPC came out with in 50's or early 60's? Thanks!
  9. Builders Anybody know if any of these kits are going to be re released? Round2 has sort of revived itself and is bringing out a lot of kits but not many custom show cars, Show cars were a big part of modeling in the golden era, Thanks!
  10. Builders That's great the Desert/Flower Power series came molded in white but the Junior/Craftsman series were molded in color. They were so the junior builder could get some confidence and finish a kit without painting it. Reissuing Junior or Craftsman in white would make it just another halfway effort, Junior/Craftsman kits should be reissued in original '60-64 boxes and maybe have a sticker on celophane saying it's from 'Special Projects of AMT', Thanks!
  11. Mark Gee, I thought I was the only one who watched kits until the price drops the lowest, Then I don't buy them and they go to what I call a reseller, Anyhow about the '66 Skylark, a kid in high school had a Buick GSX and everybody wondered what he was up to,It wasn't your standard 440 6 pack Mopar, then everybody knew what you were up to,;) Thanks!
  12. Keyser It's just a request to have the kits have a "Made in USA" sticker on them. Considering none of this is going to happen,it's no big deal. It's pretty clear AMT spreads a wide net when they bring out these kits, Put all the parts they can round up in it to sell to the most buyers, Building a single use kit would go against current policy, That's why the Mod Rod has half the Ala Kart parts, they don't have any more than that, Anyhow it's no big deal to me what they do, Regular Guy
  13. Builders If AMT is going to make these Junior/Craftsman kits again they ought to make them like the Revell SSP kits. Clearly mark them as being brought back from early kit. Here's a checklist: Junior type kit, metal axles, molded in hood, screw together pieces and no engine, Oldest packaging, Molded in color, Made in USA, The Man in Space Set has tag on it made in USA, so AMT can do it, Thanks!
  14. Tom No more Model King AMT/MPC/LIndberg kits? Oh no, Mr. Bill! Then a tip for Round2, the Lindberg Made in the USA kits are preferred by this kit buyer. Point being if AMT is going to reissue rare kits they ought to be made in the USA. Seems like the Model Kings kits were because it was a small operation. Back to Junior/Craftsman kits. The 1961 Ford Ranchero looks like it was a Craftsman kit. The '59 Lincoln would be nice to see, it's the largest production car ever made. Might as well work on the Mercury too while doing Lincoln, same styling. Regular Guy
  15. Builders The frontrunner for reissue of a Craftsman/Junior kit is the Model King 1964 Ford Galaxie. If AMT wants to pass off future Craftsman/Junior kit reissues to Model King, fine! Please, do us a favor and mold it in color.Make that a dopey color like pale yellow or pale blue. You're not going for the cutting edge audience anyhow. As far as money, they have what they call loss leaders. Ford lost money on every '56 Lincoln Continental they sold. Cars were hand assembled and engines run on a test stand. They were built to make a point. So AMT can come out with one a year of something that really hits the mark. Regular Guy
  16. Builders The 1966 Thunderbird is a Customizing kit. It might be curbside no engine, metal axles, Whoever brought up '59 Imperial, my first thought was "What '59 Imperial?" Googled it and found it was a Model King kit, That's nice what Model King is doing but they come and go so fast when their regular price, it's not really working for me, By the time you've thought about it they're gone and just available from resellers at a premium, Thanks!
  17. Builders Took another look at the list. Starting from the beginning. Anybody notice if they ever made a curbside '57 Thunderbird after the Junior/Craftsman came out? Alot of interesting cars on that list, Regular Guy
  18. Dan Then there's the 1961 Galxie re issued in this Styline kit. http://www.autoworldstore.com/AMT_1961_Ford_Galaxie_Styline_1_25_Scale_Model_Kit_p/amt652.htm Looks like they are all remnants of the yearly kits and promos. Not much left! Then there's a '60 Ford Starliner kit around (just staying with Fords 1960-1964). Almost forgot, they just reissued a 1965 Ford, so that survived too. Regular Guy
  19. Mark That reminded me of the 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL which is available as a Advanced Customizing kit. I think it might me called a 1963 1/2 and I thought it was a Prestige kit also. Regular Guy
  20. Delton Here's a beginner Gremlin model to tide you over while you are on your quest. http://www.autoworldstore.com/product_p/lnd72335.htm I'm biding my time with Lindberg 1/32 cars and beginner ship and plane models for the nostalgia experience while waiting for AMT to come out with the good stuff. Regular Guy
  21. Builders Thanks for all the responses! About the only thing I know is Lindberg does the same thing. The might be production runs so they can keep track of sales. Still a mystery at Hobbylinc, $30 or $38 for the same kit. At one time part numbers without the suffix were older kits that had been sitting on those shelves for a long time, like 7 or 8 years. There are some of those kits still being offered for sale.Funny business the model business! Don't think things worked that way in the boom years, 50's and 60's. Thanks!
  22. Builders http://www.autoworldstore.com/product_p/amt1005.htm Hobbylinc has two of these kits with different part numbers. What's the difference between AMT '56 Chevy Nomad kit 1005 and 1005-06? The 1005-06 is less money than the 1005, wonder why? Same question about all the other kits with an extra number on the end. Been wondering about these AMT part numbers for a long time. Thanks!
  23. Mr Ellis That's interesting about the holes for accessories. I think there was a connection between the Junior/Craftsman kits and the dealership promo models. It sure looks like it from that list, they cover every year and most makes and models for a couple years there.. The Junior kits were just promo kits you put together yourself. It will tell the tale if they put out any of the kits that haven't been seen since then. Thanks!
  24. Uncle Scott Thanks for the response! Looks like some kind of connection between Model King and AMT. AMT did the 1/32 Ford Ranchero in a pretty old looking box and the Lindberg 1/32 Customizing 2 pack themselves. Maybe their working their way up in scale with the old stuff? It is good to have a plan! Thanks!
