  1. I've been working on a model of that body style, but it's too late to cast it.

    60 Bel Air

Great looking Bel Air! My first car was a '60 Bel Air, and I'm making a model of it...
  3. The Allison AT540. Thank you. Great pics, by the way.
  4. What would best represent the 4 speed standard trans on a 1977 Ford f-600 U-Haul truck with a 330 engine?
  5. I'd love to see this generation truck in 1/25 as well. One of my most wanted, as a matter of fact... Very nice trucks. Thanks for the pics!
  6. Thankfully no. That's the total count.
  7. I'll count them for you. I finished the rivets and there are 1,231 of them ....really!
  8. Very Nice. I like everything about it. Great job!
  9. I went to Cincinnati to see this COTA bus. I took so many pictures my memory card ran out of space. They even gave me a ride on the bus. Sooner or later, I'm going to just build one myself! I'd rather see it kitted though.
  10. Rivets done on one side. I had trouble with the Tichy Train rivets, so I cut slices off a .025 styrene rod. These may be slightly overscale, but I can't see anything smaller! Ignore the swayback look of the model, it's camera lens distortion.
  11. Does this seem like a good idea to you? I can't even imagine how nice a kit it would be! In it's time it was used by virtually everyone.
  12. If they won't make it for us, we must make it ourself.
  13. Thanks for the welcome! It's SO easy to post pictures here, and I like the idea of keeping everything in the same thread as I progress. Those Archer rivets look pretty good. When I exhaust my current supply of styrene rivets, I'll have to look into those. I find your work (and albums) to be quite impressive. I'll have to consult with you as my building skills are more advanced than my knowledge of trucks in general.
  14. Contact Missing Link resin. They can help you out. They also appear on eBay from time to time as an F-700. I think most of the sales are on eBay, but I'm sure they would sell directly. You get the cab, hood, grille, cab steps, and the correct dash. These medium duty trucks used the dash from the PREVIOUS generation pickup. Since this generation Ford pickup hasn't been done yet, I made a dash.
  15. I don't know. They're little brass hinges. I bought a boxful off ebay some time ago. There were about 150 of them. they're loose, so there's no manufacturer or number I can give you.
  16. This is a project I've decided to do to take a break from my Clark gas station project. Back in the 70s I measured and made drawings of some U-Haul equipment. Now, decades later, I'm going to build one and possibly more, with diorama possibilities in mind. I mastered this F-600 cab for a well known caster. I'm going to use one of the copies he gave me for the cab. This unit will have a (scale) 212 inch wheelbase. This truck is going to show some wear and tear, but clearly still be in use. I used doll house hinges between layers of plastic to make the working rear door. I could not find an existing box that was correct, so this one will be scratchbuilt from .060 styrene. I have purchased 1000 .025 rivets (from Tichy Train group), and once the box body is ready, I'll be applying hundreds of rivets. I hope this project is of interest to you, and perhaps helpful to some. I will update as I get more done.
  17. It's never happened to me...yet.
  18. I'm going to build a truck. I'll post it in the truck section when I get enough done. I've been living and breathing this project, and I will return to it, but I need a break for awhile. I'll post more in this thread when I get back to this project. Thank you for all the help, and all the input.
  19. I'm leaving this project for awhile, so I'll leave you with these pics to show total progress thus far.
  20. Does anybody have any pics or info on this powerplant?
  21. Got a few more things made. Here's a look at the shelving unit Here's how it all looks in place. More to come.
  22. I stand corrected. Both opinions represented, shall we say, equally.
  23. There are those who like to relax with the hobby and have fun. Others strive for excellence. I don't see that one is more legitimate than the other. I realize this is tongue-in-cheek, but would you enjoy a magazine with the lead story "Make your Lonestar look like a snap kit", or "Forget accuracy...we show you how to make it EASIER!" I know some "rivet counters" are too vocal with their "opinions", but isn't this doing the same thing in a different way?
  24. Ed, I had a feeling you would know. Thank you! That's about as precise a response as I could hope for!
