  1. I dont like the door because I didnt think about the dash being visable when I put in the hinge. I was not thinking that once the door is opened it will be visable. I think we are on the same page RMVW guy. The diorama is a different artform for me also. It is so far out of my comfort zone.
  2. I built this AMT Ford about 6 months ago while thinking about building a diorama. The only problem is I have never built a diorama and don't have a clue how to start. I built it as an old farm truck waiting to be restored. This is the first time I opened a door on one of my models and it didn't turn out as I would have liked, so I will just use the experience as practice. The battery box was opened and the interior was gutted. I topped it off with a rag for a gas cap, southern style.
  3. This truck was built a couple of years back and I decided to share it with you. It's built to represent an old company truck that has been used way past its prime. I scratch built the tool boxes and headache rack. I made a dented tailgate out of sheet aluminium. I used cheap spray paint and a Tamiya weathering kit for the finish. The AMT 90's Chevy truck kits are one of my favorites. I have a few in my stash an am always searching for more.
  4. One of my most recent builds is this mid nineties 3 1/4 ton truck. I raised the suspension and added extra leaf springs in the back. I used wheels from an older AMT 1950 Mercury. They look like Ford dog dish hubcaps to me if you are at the right distance. The kit I used to start the project was a AMT Ford F-150.
  5. This is one of my most recent builds. It's an MPC Monte Carlo. This was in my opinion, not a very good model. The body was warped, covered in flash and not very detailed. I glued down the hood because there isn't much detail to show. I did have fun building it and that's all that matters. I built it to represent a car that has been stolen a few times and abused. It has a busted steering colum, missing stereo and speakers.
  6. I built this a few years ago and won a couple of trophies with it. It turned out pretty good for my first real attempt at weathering a model. I used Wally World spray paint and Rustall for the finish. Any tips are welcome.
  7. I saw that too Custom Mike. I would like to have a set of those decals for a "thinking outside of the box" build.
  8. Thanks for all the good reviews. The kit isnt terrible cobraman but, this one looked like it was made out of the same plastic that they use to make milk juggs. It was almost transparent. Every part had massive ammounts of flash and was warped terribly. As you can see the doors are warped so bad they will not shut properly. I worked on them for hours and this is the best I could get them. I have seen many of the same kits on this forum that are really nice so maybe I just got a bad one. As long as you are handy with super glue and have productive ways to release your frustrations this kit can make a decent model. I will probably build a few more in the future.
  9. I built this Lindberg kit last year and couldn't think of where to go with it because it just didn't want to go together. I decided to make an old yard truck. I scratch built the bed, boom and added items from my parts box. I painted it with a salting technique I learned at the Lab-Rat-Ory, and Floquill paint that was on clearance. I topped it off with oil paints for details and Tamiya weathering system.
  10. I will post more of my models in the under glass sections soon so people can get a better idea of what I do and give me pointers. Sory for the poor quality pictures. I am having trouble with my computer and had to post the picks with my phone. I hope to get the problem fixed. Thank you for the warm welcome. I have been following many of the builds on this site and always find inspiration. This forum has made me a better builder and I hope, with the tips and inspiration from all of you, I continue to advance my modeling skills.
  11. Hello everyone, I have been lurking on this forum for long enough and am finaly going to introduce myself. I have been building model cars and trucks since I was a child and have recently been getting really into this hobby. I am what Dr. Cranky would call a Styrene Adict. A few of you may have seen me and my models at local shows and swapmeets in the Dallas area and I wanted to share a few of them with the rest of y'all. Please feel free to leave comments on my work. Ben
