What to build Next?
Evilbenny replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When I have that problem I ask my wife to pick one out of the stash for me. I will even ask her to decide what style build I should do. Sometimes I will build one for her, let her pick it out pick the color and everything. One time I took one I built for her to a contest and won a trophy and had a picture of it published in a model magazine. Doing this healed me from builders block and involved her in my hobby. It was fun for the both of us. -

The EPA would not allow this. Too much methane emission. -

I was surfing the web today and noticed that Squadron is having a sale on some of their kits. I saw a few items that looked like a good deal.

Dodge L700 Build - Quirks?

The doors were the only major issue I had. There was also a massive ammount of flash on all the parts. My guess is that the flash is due to the age of the mold. I worked on the doors to my kit for hours and still could not get them right. They will close but not stay closed. -
Wow. I'm glad I don't have a dog in the '90 Mustang LX fight.

I was in school when the 5.0 was king of the street and I even had one. I have been waiting in excitement for this kit to come out and was dissappointed when I saw the photos of what was produced by Revell. I will probably buy one or two because it is the only reasonable option for me to get a 5.0 coupe, but if Revell decides to fix the body they can count me in for multiple copy's. I was truly surprised with the body of this kit. I was expecting the quality of the body to be at the same level of the recent 57 Ford and the Olds. -
It came complete with an existing model room and about 75 completed models. 5 of them are 1/16 scale Kenworth's and Peterbilt's.

jrherald420 had a post in the "what did you get today?" thread that got me reminiscing about an old flame I once had. It was a red 1994 Mustang GT. I added a killer stereo system, all kinds of bolt on go fast goodies and Cobra wheels. Looking back it was my favorite car that I have owned to date and I regret ever selling it. It was a blast to drive and always was an attention getter. What are your "one's that got away" cars.

I hope you like the new truck. I sold my 94 GT a few years back and wish I never did. I recieved a letter from the Dallas DMV impound lot about 3 months after the sale telling me to come get it. I called and told them that I sold it and they told me that they have me on file as the legal owner. I guess they never transfered the title over to their name. Curiosity got the best of me so I went to look at it. Someone tried to smash through a concrete barier with it and some of the parts have been stripped. It broke my heart. I have had 3 V8 Mustangs so far and looking back my 94 was my favorite.

Which pick-up kit is the best?
Evilbenny replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
All of the previous suggestions are great but I would advise you to avoid the Revell 56 Ford and the 53 Flip-nose kit's. They are sub-par, (trying to be nice) to the newer Revell and AMT kits. -

Evilbenny replied to kalbert's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
You did a great job with this kit. I built one a few years ago that didnt turn out close to as good as yours. The subject is great but Revell should be ashamed of putting their name on it. That kit is terrible. -
There may be a regional aspect to the lack of pickup models produced. I understand that pickups are not as popular in other areas as they are here in Texas. The pickup truck and SUV are our most popular vehicles. Down here people will buy a 3/4 or 1 ton truck as a daily driver to their office jobs. I am guilty myself. I drive a Ram 1500 4x4 that I have never driven "off road". Its just too nice to tear up. Im not critisizing those who buy large trucks to drive arround town because it is our choice to buy what we want with our money. I hope that the new Moebius Ford's will be a huge hit and more pickup models will be tooled up in the near future. For those that have no interest in pickup models I do accept donations.

It's been a good week arround here for for me. I got a few things on my want list. One complete 1/16 flatbed and another one that will need some work. A bulldozer that I have been wanting for a long time and a few other things I have been eyeballing for a while. Best part is all trailers except the display case one were free. The others were picked up at way below what they usually go for.

How "Rare" are 1/16 trailers?
Evilbenny replied to Evilbenny's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the info guys. -
I have been in this hobby for over 20 years and have only seen two 1/16 flatbed trailers. They were in my late Uncle's collection and they have been passed down to me. One is complete but has broken pieces due to poor handling and the other is about halfway built and the rest of the parts are M.I.A. As far as my perspective is they might as well be Unicorns but, my question is, are they "Rare" as in were there many made? How hard will it be to find parts? How many different types of trailers were made for the 1/16 scale trucks? Any info would be appreciated.
