  1. Just a few pics of my blue 427 S/C, with wheels from a diecast Maisto SSR... I have 2 questions for others who have built this kit. Where do you mount the fan? What can I do with the coil wire? Thanks. Bob
  2. ... ...the sticker for the (P.I. ?) small dash fell off in the car and should have been easy to find...nope! Thanks again for your interest Bob
  3. Thanks Chris, Ray and Jim The paint is Testors One Coat Lacquer Fiery Orange with 3 coats of clear. The paint went on "pebbly", probably sprayed from too far away, and there was not enough paint left for another coat so I left it for maybe 10+ years before deciding to clear it. The surface is now smooth but still looks crappy to me. Here is a pic that shows the colour better but is out of focus... ...and some shots without the body... ...
  4. Put it together to get a few pics, still need to figure out how to mount the wipers and complete everything left. Bob
  5. Very nicely done. Gotta love someone who is turning 85 & who is in the process of building. Bob
  6. Very nice Keke! I love the lines of this car and your mods add to the "meaness" of it. Great paint and exicution. Bob
  7. Nice! Love the seatbelt and Robins eggs, still looking and smiling. Bob
  8. Great. Love the colours, the engines, the wheels/tires and the craftsmanship Robert! Bob
  9. Figures? A Barbie and a 1/2 Ken, nothing from the waist down, gotta have room for batteries! Bob
  10. Very well executed and right up my ally. Can you show us some shots of how the interior and engine compartment look? Bob
  11. .Thanks Ray. Sanded off most of what I put on... Sanding super glue, the dust really hurts the eyes. Looking at my safety glasses shows how it sticks to everything... When I started sanding all that bondo I was clean-shaven...
  12. Thank you all very much for the comments! Here are some in-work pics from earlier. Used a compass to mark what I wanted the cut them out with a drum sander on a rotary tool... ...glued them on then used the kitchen counter top to set them at 90 degrees... ...then bondo'd them on... ...
  13. UPDATE Aug 23 What I have so far. Only unmodified parts so far are the front and rear glass...and I will be cutting the front glass and have not decided on the rear glass yet. I can post some in-work pics if anyone is interested but most of them will show what did not work to my satisfaction.
  14. That kit has a tough hood hinge to get just right and you did it. I also built this kit years ago and at the moment it has been stripped and re painted but not assembled, now I'll have to refer to your build when I put it back together Bob
  15. That was probably a safer location for the fuel tank than the factory location. Bob
  16. Wow. Looks like it just came off the delivery truck, sure you won't do anymore stock builds? Bob
  17. ...and another... Ever taken a picture and someone is in it that looks like you should NOT have taken the pic of them? Bob
  18. These pics were taken at the same place but not on the same day... ...
  19. Sharp build and nice save Bob
  20. Really cool idea Walter! Bob
  21. I followed along on this build and every update it seemed like things just...happened, like a magic wand created stuff, it was like it was just so easy for you to do. I know it only seemed that way and you put tones of work into it. This build, along with some of your other builds I've seen, amazed me for the obvious but the biggest (and least noticed) is the way everything looks "real", not rusted or worn out but USED, some grease and oil stains, rubber and smoke distressed areas, as if the builds were real and well looked after but about a year old. I'm very humbled by your talent and am learning from an excellent "teacher". Bob
  22. Man I like this! Still looking at all the details, great background of rust as well Bob
  23. ...first primer coat... ...first sanding and separating of the main pieces... ...second primer... I discovered that the epoxy that I used never did get hard so I had to do some "dentistry"... ...and a second sanding... Bob
  24. I've been inspired by this thread... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27328&hl= I think I will try a exact copy of the 1:1 car but first I'm going to do a build on an unmodified SCCA kit chassis, hopefully I've learned stuff from my other similar build that is stalled at the moment. Some of the things I want to do on this build are altering the body's wheel openings to fit the chassis, pinching the grill/headlight opening, adding the hood and rear side vents and having the option of 3 different wings These first pics will show some forward and backward steps. Cut out some discs and centered them on the axles... ...slicing the hood and fenders to bend them down... ...
