  1. I have not seen any responses to this post, are there many people on this forum planning on being here?
  2. @ Rommel and Mooneyes, feel free to keep a lookout for me as well. I will be at the Phoenix Desert Scale Classic. I did post a flyer over in the upcoming shows folder as well.
  3. Quick question/thought regarding the condition of the covers etc. I stopped almost all subscriptions to model magazines about 10 years ago for that reason, I got tired of scuffed and torn covers. I know you mentioned earlier the numbers game. Many magazines I have read in the past would certainly prefer me to be a subscriber because it adds to the "circulation" number which equates to rates they charge for add space etc. Does the number of magazines that a Hobby Shop gets add to your subscription rate any different than say a book store would? (which I assume to be zero for circulation count) The reason I ask is this, I usually buy my ModelCars Mag from my local Hobby Shop in Tempe Arizona which I think supports my "local" Mom and Pop hobby shop, (which I try to do as much of as I can) and of course almost guarantees that I do not have a messed up cover. Does that "hurt" Modelcars Mag? Having said that, some folks may be willnig to pay a slightly different subscription rate to have their's bagged. If the cost was too high to do all of the issues, maybe it could simply be that a portion are bagged, and those that want them could pay to have it that way. This, I am sure, is probably nothing new that you have not already thought about though. Hope the back improves Gregg, Mark
  4. While I am fairly new to this forum, I have been building models and involved with various onlnie groupd and live clubs for many years. Some of you may know me. This is myself and my wife around a year ago or so.
  5. @torinobradley, that is nice man, thanks for finding that
  6. Very cool, I like oddbal subjects like that
  7. Nice job! I have seen this car in person, it is quite striking for sure. It was with the 7 and 9 at the Imperial Palace auto display in Vegas about 3 years ago.
  8. Very nice end work, I can smell the salt water from here.
  9. Very nice job for a new person to the Hobby!
  10. I would not worry the least on any kind of approval as this is a model kit. Not so sure how Rolls could even hold an owner accountable for the repairs to thei vehicle, unless it is something they as a company are paying for or subsidising etc. If you own it, it is yours, beat it with a sledge if you like and use it in your yard as a decoration. (My wife's ex-parent's in law have one, and treat it like ######, it was left to them in a will) Now, if you are a repair shop, and you want to maintain your "authorized RR repair" status, that would be a different issue. That falls back on the shop, not the customer.
  11. Here is a flyer for the Desert Scale Classic on April 21st.
  12. Huge fan of the Hobby Depot myself. They have been great to me every time I have been in there. You can get on their email list, they will also call you when ModelCars mag is in to let you know it is there etc. They had a free workshop last week for diorama/display making, and it was free, had a great time, and have a new display base, plus several great tips to take into building world.
  13. @ Mike, Hey Mike, sorry I missed you. I was looking forward to seeing you again. I SOO wanted to make that Toy show, but was just not able to make it. Will you be at either the Scale Desert Classic or the Model swap before that in Phoenix?
  14. Will be using a frame from on old built up as well, with a few modifications.
  15. Will be using and modifying the cowl/firewall from the Paddy Wagon kit, as well as a bench seat from a Monogram Woody kit
  16. Thanks Ira and Hoosierfarmboy (also a Hoosier myself from Anderson, although I now live in Phoenix area). I managed to get almost a full day of model building in today These first pictures show where I took the the Paddy Wagon roof and narrowed and shortened it, ended up being 4 pieces in order to use the backside of the roof lip. I have also removed all the texture as I want the paint to be smooth like the rest of the body.
  17. Thanks Bartser, I will keep updates posted. Trying to get it done by May for the Desert Scale Classic here in Phoenix. @ Modlbldr, maybe there could be a similar build project here on this site!? Well, off to the bench now.
  18. I started on this project about 5 months ago, and got just a few days work done before havnig to pack up for a move to our new house. Now, we are getting settled in, and I can start building again, so this is first on the bench. This is intened to be an early 60's style custom, and is part of ModelCarsUnlimited group build 3-N-One where the object is to take three or more major body parts from different kits, and create your own unique vehicle. To that end, I am working on C-N-Things. I main cab is made from cutting down the side panels of a Paddy wagon kit, and using the sides to form the back of the cab. The enterior will be tuck-n-roll using plastruct half round. The roof was also cut from the Paddy Wagon, but had to be narrowed, and shortened. I will have more pics of the roof in the next couple of days. The fenders and bed are from the '29 Ford Rat Rod kit, and the bed has bene shortened about 6 scale inches. The cowl and dash will likely come from the same Paddy Wagon kit, but not possitive yet. The grille may be a 32 Ford Unit or custom one similar to the Ala-Kart. The engine is still undecided, but will be something more for show that go, with lots of chrome.
  19. Looks like it may be the Mincraft/Hubley kit. Always wondered how that would look like that, but just could not pull it together in my mind's eye. I like where you are going with it.
  20. What are you gonig to use for the chassis?
  21. One possiblity could be that when a piece of the job needs to be done, say your suspension idea, or maybe dash, or whatever, when you may not need to get the whole box and the rest of the model, you get or start with only that portion you need. Do you have a similar frame around that you could mock everything up on? If so, you might not even need to get the kit at all to participate for example. If so, then you would only be mailing a small padded envelope at a much smaller cost to the person that has the model at that time. Any thoughts?
  22. While I have not been posting to the thread, I have been watching. As one of the contributers/builders on the original Snowball project, I would really like to see this one move on and get completed. Snowball vanished literally for years, then showed up again looking great in paint, but to this day as far as I now, still not finished. From what I have read here, it would seem that some of the original builders may no longer be involved, but there still seems to be enough other folks to be willing to take up the slack. Please, build on!
  23. I have to say that I have been floowing the progress of this build, and not only am I more than throughly impressed with your build quality, but your progress so quickly it makes it just that much more impressive! Great looking model!
