  1. Glad you kept beating on that old bucket because the results were well worth the effort.
  2. Clean work...lookin' good.
  3. I too love this kit...so many possibilities. I did a curbside JF A100 van with baby d's about 10 years ago. They're a natural under these things with the limited wheelwell space. Your stance is right on the money. I'm going the other way with my current version (stalled 'til I get another kit to steal parts from, though). Pics in my fotki if you care to peek.
  4. Casey, I knew I'd seen something like this before. That's it. lol. Cool build Brizio. I dig it.
  5. Heheh...that's pretty cool.
  6. Favorite build on here right now. Great job.
  7. Hey Dave keep on keepin' on, my friend. I know too well how it is to have your body flip ya the bird, moon ya, and cut ya off in traffic every day. Just gotta tell it how it is and keep goin' right? Easier said than done, I know. It's all good though. If I can do it, you can too. Cheers!
  8. Yep. If ya squint just right at 3:17 you can barely make out light bending through the blower. I do not, however, spot the Dodge Swinger. 1973.
  9. Put me down for 8:15pm on the pool for when this thread vanishes.
  10. Same for me, Chuck. I don't have it yet but it looks like there's a bit too much "curl" to the back end of the cowl where it meets up with the windshield; actually a pretty common design flaw with model cars but it stands out more on some subjects. The 1:1 is not an easy chop to get right...there are tons more that are equally "off a bit" in one way or another than there are stellar examples, so I don't think I will be too critical of how they did it. Of course, if it really bugs ya just do that Carson Top kitbash above. Looks great. One thing that stands out for me with the fadeaways is that there is a minor bump in the road as it transitions from front fender to fadeaway. It's not very noticeable from some angles but it'll bug me enough that I'll have to put a little extra work into that area to get some serious flow.
  11. Hahaha Stoney you crack me up. We talked for a bit in the chat one night and it was clear that you are not only very prolific but have an absolute blast with this stuff. Ever thought about experimenting with making bodies out of those disposable aluminum baking tins? They'd crush great.
  12. Nothing wrong with speed equipment on a custom. Flaws be damned (not that I can see any), I think it's a great example of good style and natural kitbashing. I really dig it.
  13. Some days I wonder but it turns out I ain't dead yet.
  14. Love it.
  15. Don...ya nutter. lol.
  16. Hey Mark! Long time no see, bud. Cool project. I have a thing for c-cabs so you've definitely got my attention.
  17. Neat build, but the Starfire was an actual Oldsmobile product...much cooler than it's brother the Impala imho...and why I made a beeline to the thread when I saw the title. Hmm. Actually, I have two spare Olds bodies....dangit there's another project to add to the list.
  18. Yeah baby!
  19. That's all kindsa rad, right there. Nice work.
  20. Yeah, the tire to wheel interface at the front is a little wonky, but I figure I can help hide that by trimming the lip back a touch and adding some rock guards and turning the wheels into beadlockers. I may think of another way around the issue but so far that makes the most sense, considering. There are a few pics in my fotki (link in sig), but my camera sucks and to make matters worse the parts are still bare styrene...so it's not easy to capture them properly. I think I stuck them in the "stuff" folder. About all that's left to do on the tranny and tc are the pto covers and add more bolt detail. I need to get to a real hobby shop and pick up some various hex rod.
  21. UPS trucks are like apple pie...ya just can't help but like them. Great work. Like everyone else, I look forward to more updates. New Ray is one of those few toy companies that seems to have a lot of parts fodder for us. They're usually cheap enough that there's no remorse in busting them up for just a couple things, and they put more detail/effort into things like wheels and tires than you find on most toys. I have pillaged a few of them over time now.
  22. Yep that does look better. Nice work on the updates. I have to admit that I'm not normally much of a 4x4 guy. I normally gravitate towards customs and hot rods, but for whatever reason I have the bug lately. I did hit a DG here and found the army set you spoke of. Like you, the rc tires are too over the top for my tastes. These being smaller they are just the ticket, so thanks for pointing me in that direction. I have 4 off road projects going now (one main, an easy jeep cj, and two on deck in parts collection stages). Lacking much parts fodder for these and not being satisfied with much of what I do have, I'm making a lot from scratch. So far I have finished a SM465 tranny and NP205 tc combo, and am almost done with a proper Dana 44 steer axle with proper knucks. It's proving to be a good exercise. Once I am closer to a complete drivetrain/chassis, I'll post up.
  23. Hey Darrick nice project. Could you post up the army toy you found the tires/wheels on? They look like a great alternative for those of us who want something a little tamer than the soreal offerings. Thanks.

Todd! Hey man what's up? Andy, great job on the interior so far. Love that green. And yep, bmf is great for masking. Another trick I've found very useful in some situations is to paint the bmf itself to use as an insert. Comes in real handy for those areas that have tricky foiling to do too, since you can just hit the high spots real quick to remove the paint and expose the foil. Just one to stick in the back of the brain to use when you find the right spot.
