  1. Wow. Not what I expected when I saw the title. The billet isn't really my thing, but overall that's a pretty striking beast. I dig it.
  2. Came out great, Andy. ^5! Unfortunate that it had to get pushed down to the trucks category but that's the logic around here. Maybe one of these days they'll figure it out. Until then we'll just have to give each other heads up like you did on your build thread.
  3. Check back with me in 2-3 weeks, Steve. I'm working on masters to cast up some 1 ton and 1.5-2 ton wheels and tires. I'm finishing up the 1.5-2 ton masters right now, then will be moving on to the 1 ton. They're both of the 5 hole-5 lug variety.
  4. Sharp Cat.
  5. I need to look what's going on around me once in a while. I'm only 2 hours from Ypsy.
  6. I agree, this is an annoying omission. When I built my 66 Fairlane, I made a quick n dirty sculpy mold of the shock mounts from an AMT 69 Torino. Couple drops of epoxy later and a little clean up, there they were.
  7. I gotta agree...you catch a real good vibe with your builds. They don't put off that "I'm a model car" air...they're more like looking at a real car through very slightly off kilter glasses. Good stuff. Can't wait to see more.
  8. Quite nice. Great to see that kit given justice. That white pinner really sets it off. I had a '68 Country Squire...these mid to late 60's full size Fords are highly under-rated!
  9. Rad. x2 on having no clue why everyone chops these. So much cooler unchopped.
  10. Those look like the standard, in-almost-every-ATM-kit-tooled-in-the-70's-80's tire combo...which were still in at least half of the reissues I bought in the late 90's early 00's. I'm sure there are hundreds floating around in the parts boxes of the members here, and considering how many people build to a more modern look I can't imagine you would have any trouble finding people who are willing to part with them.
  11. I know this is post was dug from the grave but the XJC is my favorite Jag from the 70's so I had to comment. Great work, Fred, and I'm sure I speak for many when I say that I'd love to see what became of this.
  12. Huh? That "gap" is the apron between the bottom of the body and the running board. It's supposed to be there. I've wondered a couple times if amt will ever see fit to toss a coupe body at it and update the rolling stock (sorry, but I think the ones that come with it are horrid). All I did to mine was fill in the "wood" and change the wheels/tires but if I did another I'd also make the rear door pillar nearly vertical...as the angle it's at does absolutely nothing but conflict with the rest of the cars lines. That said, though, it is a great parts kit if you're into street rods. The fit and finish is actually quite decent.
  13. Go to the HAMB and search "banger" and you'll find a lot of love for these.
  14. Yep, that's the one, Ron. I'd love to have a handful or two of those wheels and tires.
  15. I would definitely be interested in that particular wheel. However, those shown are not very accurate. They look too small in diameter, and the holes are too large. I think it was a Danbury Mint piece that I saw that had an accurate version, but I can't locate it atm.
  16. I'm pretty eccentric by nature. A lot of what I like is either an underdog in the "car scene" or completely off the wall, and a lot of the things that are really popular I consider uninteresting or even passe'. I suppose that translates directly to what I pick for building subjects. I don't give any more thought than that.
  17. More power to you guys who are driven by either...neither has ever motivated me to do this.
  18. I'd have to say that my enthusiasm for racing has always been pretty casual, except for during the early '90's. I could probably count how many full races I've watched since the day he died on one hand, and it's about the only day in racing that I will never forget. Senna was pure driver, through and through. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I'll have to watch it as soon as I'm able.
  19. I was hoping to see that finished soon. What a great looking traditional custom. Very tasteful.
  20. I don't know the first thing about the subject but that is a fine build.

    Between 32s

Love the stock '23. That's one of the few T/A kits I have that always tempts me to build it stock.
  22. Oh wow, I totally forgot about these. They were actually one of my earliest interests in cars (along with the Mustang II widebody haha). Now I have to go dig up an old race or two and relive a slice of my childhood. Thanks for posting it.
  23. Well shoot me in the head...I actually agree with Harry. But I have to say that the whole candy-coated sugar on top environment is so prevalent here that some visits I just close the tab after a few threads. Sometimes because it's just all so sweet it makes me sick and sometimes because I know that I could easily offer a suggestion that would help the builder but it's easier to not post than get my wrists slapped for "dogging" someones effort. It really is just simple common sense, but your message comes off as a bit hypocritical, Harry...the expressed intent of it goes completely against the reality. I've only been back at the bench for a bit, and don't post up my work other than in the chat because honestly my camera blows. But that'll change soon and when it does I hope that people offer suggestions to improve my efforts, because if my threads turn into Ira or Teresi fan club type threads (no offense guys...yours were just the ones that were at the tip of my tongue ) I think I'll hurl. If I post something it'll be as much to get another set of eyes on it to spot something I may have missed as it is to just say "lookie what I did." Then again, I'll probably include "please critique" in my threads just to give the people like me a heads up that it's okay to be critical. Shame that it's even necessary because like you said, Harry, it should just be simple common sense.
  24. Rad. great work on the top, too.
