I just got back into modeling last year and being at 15 I'm still learning certain aspects of the hobby, but I build for myseld most of the time and that's what makes it fun! I may not build the best model here and hey I may build the worst, but if I like it and am satisfied to what its turnes out to be then ill put it on the shelf, but if a month or two goes by then I don't care for it as much ill pull it back off and add things to it that I think will make it better. Sure, I like showing off my work to you guys and getting criticism on how to improve my next model, but in the end my opinion is the only one that counts when it comes to whether I build the perct model is my own opinion. My perfect model is differenr than your "perfect" model.

At 15 and just started modeling last year I'm still in the learning curve and I've tried a few cowl hoods myself amd never have actually been satified with them. I think I'm about to start a 40' ford here in a little bit since my work bench hasn't had anything on it in a weel or two.
-
Not that I could do any better, bit the hodd is just a little bit to tall and doesn't flow from the front grill, but its still really sweet! Don't take my criticism the wrong way though as I couldn't do much better. Lol. Thabks for sharing it!

Revell/Gearz Contest - Official Thread

I believe they will send you kits of THEIR choice. And to me a free kit from a manufacturer is a free kit. If they are snaptites, try some custom work. -
Well Done!! Yes what clear did you use to execute such a shiny and reflective paint??
-
One of them will be on my want list. An air compressor doesn't happen to come in that kit???
-
We'll I need one then! Was going to scratch build one, but I guess ill save my money up a little and buy one.
-
does the lift go down at all?
-
True...double sided tape it is! Now with yours, that floor is similar to what I'm wanting to do. Amd your lift? I'm curious to knoe how you did both of those? Thanks. Nathan

Do you think hot glue would work to glue the plastic to wood?? Without hurting anything?
-
Sweet! Can't wait! What engine setup is going into this bad boy??

I'm thinking of sticking with the balsa wood because I had it laying around and am on a tight budget. Only reason I orderrd more was because I didn't think I had enough. I don't blieve ill be painting the balsa as the outer wall will be a ribbed sheet plastic that I have laying around amd the inner will probably be a sheet plastic painted to my liking. The only thing I'm not sure about is the floor.... I appreciate the advice though. And the problem I had with the foam board is I couldn't cut it right and everytime I screwed up I had to buy more. I've got enough balsa now that I don't have to worry about it

just so i know whats the easiest and best way to glue the balsa wood to each other for the frame? wood glue? hot glue? White glue? tack nails? which would be the best way of doing this? thanks nathan.

I guess the hard work paid off...

Hey Andy! Im a fellow Indiana Teenage model builder! Congrats! Always glad to see an indiana native thats my age go on and win something that i can only dream of! I didnt get entered into this one on account of not having anything to build and working on my fourwheeler, but once again congrats! looking forward to the prizes that you get when you recieve them!!! -
i dont know, but it was pretty bad. Its a two stroke and apparently there was alot that the guy didnt know, such as carb jetting, and that you have to up the jets for modifications adn that wasnt done so it was running lean which in turn allowed it to over heat. plus the bore was out of spec for the piston that was in it.

at 15 i dont have a car, but id do have a toy The story on it is i bought it after saving all my money for 3 years for it(birthdays, mowing lawns, helping ut with odd things here and there, etc.) I saved over 800 dollars. i bought it or 600 and thought i had some extra money to buy the parts for it that it needed, wrong!!! A week after buying it it blew up and here is some carnage So i bought the rebuild kit for the motor($200) that included: piston, gasket kit, bore & hone, bearings, wrist pin, and circlips, butt it didnt stop there. I had to save for another 6 months to get everything else i needed. After 6 months i had saved anotther 200 dollars and bought alot moe stuff to complete it. So the story goes that i ended up redoing the whole thing, by myself with no help fom anyone else, but a forum for some of my troubleshooting problems. So here is the before when i bought it: and here is now after the COMPLETE rebuild: and it still needs a new seat cover. So now since this thing is mostly done my money will go back to modeling if i can eventually find them odd jobs here and there again. Heres a video of it. http://youtu.be/fSuObHAcQJQ P.S. Sorry about the long post

This is my first attempt at a full wood diorama. Ive done a few using foam board and just didnt like the result. He might do a thing here and there, but he would rather watch me play sports than build a model. Ive got a model or two coming Just a matter of when they get here. so ill kindly thank you for the offer, but i will decline your offer. Now i need logos! LOL going to try and cut my base out today!
-
Just ordered my balsa wood. Projected delivery is Saturday! Hopefully get started then! Might cut my base tomorrow or whenever I get ro it. Lol
