  1. Alain, As I look through each set of your photos, I am very impressed! Your attention to detail, and your realistic weathering are awesome! Did this trailer begin life as the Revell lowboy, or was it scratchbuilt? David
  2. Alain, Another great build! I like how you converted the front wheel wells/fenders, and added the twin steer. Is the dump body a converted Paystar dumper? Again, great, realistic photography! David
  3. Alain, Great job! I like the color, the weathering, and as others have shared, the last photo is AWESOME! It looks like it was taken on the jobsite! David
  4. Okay Guys, Finally getting started on this project! Decided on O gauge(1/48). Purchased some of the window/door components online - have to wait for those to arrive. Bought both Magic Brik and JTT dressed stone patterned plastic sheet for the stonework. Still have to mock up the walls with cardboard, which won't happen til the weekend with work. Any suggestions on what to use for the permanent walls? I don't have access to a table saw at the moment. The Magic Brik involves a water based brick motar compound. Warping is a concern... Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks. David
  5. Matthew, You may wish to try Papillio.com They make a wide variety of inkjet waterslide decal paper in both clear and white. I can speak from experience, that their products are very good. I also have an ALPS, which is great for metallic and white, but often struggles with dithering to achieve certain colors. I use a lot of stripes on my models, and the Papillio did great on my Epson Workforce inkjet printer. They also sell their own fixative which works very well. The striping on this project that is "In Progress" was done with the Papillio white decal film. This is 1/35 scale Hope this helps! David
  6. Wow! Hessel, you and Zeger are quite the craftsmen. I wish there was a way for someone who is not knowledgeable in CAD to develop their own drawings for CNC and 3D printing. I would like to learn, but do not know where to start. I have wanted to build this project for a long time, but the wheels and tires would have to be custom drawn and printed. Anyone who could point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated.
  7. Hey Guys, With the absence of a Mack Granite cab in 1/24-1/25 scale, could a CH613 be modified into one? Perhaps P&P might consider adding a Granite to his line? Hint, hint... David
  8. Brandon, Sweet idea AND execution! I like the changes and the details. Look forward to following this project. David
  9. Here is an update - although much more has been done since these photos... The cab was finally assembled. Tamiya White Surface Primer from a bottle was lightly brushed on to fill come of the surface depressions left from the molding process. The cab was masked off with Tamiya tape, and then painted with Tamiya White and Bright Yellow. Custom decals were made. Some have been applied, as can be seen below. Much more work is being done, such as completion of work on the platform just behind the cab, as well as applying diamond plate to the roof of the tank and rear pump control portion. Also, the blue/white stripe behind the cab is just placed there for mock up. The spare tire holder walls have since been placed. Striping will wrap around that area, as well as gold leaf striping between the white/yellow areas. Updates and photos to follow! As always, THANKS for looking!
  10. Hi Guys, Thanks for your help! Now to find a base kit/diecast to work from... Would the Yat Ming 1/24 E Greenwich diecast pumper be a good start? http://www.diecastmodelswholesale.com/catalog/4b00_1_3589_1.JPG I realize that it is a closed cab, but the other '38 Macks appear to have a different shape to the front fenders... Thanks!
  11. AITM sells these "Modern" hood conversions mastered by Tim Alhorn: http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/hc1peterbilt386.html http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/hc2peterbilt367heavyhood.html While they headlights are cast into the hood, I am sure our more creative members could come up with a solution...
  12. Hey Guys, Need help identifying which model Mack this is: This truck was once run by the first fire department that I served in. I would like to build a model of it, Any help would be appreciated! Thanks. David
  13. Dave, Great to see those again! The '65 Approved Rescue was always one of my favorites! David
  14. Try contacting him. Like many quality casters, they can usually work out exactly what you need. They realize that a satisfied customer will keep coming back AND share their experience on forums like this... David
  15. Junior, Very cool! What scale is it? David
  16. To put it simply, I use each for their individual strengths. I use the ALPS for white, metallic gold and silver. I prefer Tango Papa decal film for that purpose. I make color decals for use on lighter colored finishes with my inkjet printer and Papillio decal paper. I use the latest version of CorelDraw Home and Student, which conveniently allows me to save drawings all the way down to version 7. V. 7 is what I use on my dedicated ALPS printing computer. Just my 2 cents... David
  17. Tom, I look forward to following this build - which ever livery you choose. In your hands, it will be a winner! David
  18. Dave, I like it already! I look forward to updates. David
  19. Still have to start building my "Planned Project" 1913 rural firehouse from Masonville, N.J. I have decided on 1/48 scale. Another vignette I have thought about is a second or third story window of a building on fire, where a mother surrounded by smoke billowing out reaches to hand her infant to a firefighter on a ladder(either ground or aerial device)... David
  20. Here is one of mine "In Progress" It is for my semi-fictitious airport fire dept. It will most likely get a "rehab", with a white roof, new graphics, and completion of the pump, hose reels and firefighting system. David
  21. WOW!!! What an awesome job! I have appreciated all of the fine work you have done on this project, but that color just POPS! I can't wait to see the next shots! David
  22. William, Fantastic job on this build! I especially like the color combo. My squad has been using this combo for several decades now. Really sharp with gold lettering. Do you plan on placing any graphics on the trailer? David
  23. Tom, Did you make those wheel covers yourself? I have a long standing project of a Camden, N.J. Fire Dept. Battalion Chief's Bronco that needs a set of those. I had bought the old Pinecrest wheels, but they lacked the correct profile. I was going to order a set of the Scale Squad's/Models by Tony wheels, but they went out of business just as I was about to place my order... Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks! David
