  1. @Vernon - Sounds good I´ve just ordered a kit, looking forward to its arrival. Does anybody know where to purchase 1/16 scale braided lines & A/N fittings? Any ideas (or alternatives) are welcome. Thanks for all input & response.
  2. @MAGNUM4342 - Thanks for the info! Yes, I do like NASCAR - especially cars from that era. Even if I prefer 1/24-1/25 scale models, I don´t mind building large scale model cars. I think they´re pretty cool (or should that be: Petty cool? )
  3. @Greg Myers - I' ve allready seen the instructions, but thanks anyway. I find it hard to judge the quality of a kit by the instructions.
  4. Interesting kit, but is it worth bying? I understand it´s a kit that dates back to the 70´s, but can it be built into a decent model?
  5. Nice models! I love those vintage floppers.
  6. I knew I had some pictures of old german trucks - and look what I found. I took this picture on the IAA show 2010 in Hannover. It´s an exhibition for commercial vehicles (and a lot of other stuff) but they also have a rather large section of oldtimers.
  7. This is a kit that was originally released by Revell Germany a couple of years ago. I would say around 2005. It´s a really nice kit with nice moldings and lots of detail. It builds into a good looking kit, right out of the box.
  8. Wow, superclean build. Well deserved, congratulations.
  9. Here´s some info/review of the Paasche H. https://sites.google.com/site/donsairbrushtips/paasche-h Also, there´s a lot of info and reviews of other airbrushes and stuff on that homepage. I have several AB´s, some are siphon feed and some gravity feed, I don´t think it´s an issue to clean a siphon feed AB. In fact, I believe it´s a bit easier. Just keep a jar of cleaner/lacquer thinner ready, when you´re done with the painting - blow out what paint there´s left in the AB and then simply connect the jar of cleaner/lacquer thinner and give a good blast.
  10. Thanks DoubleD. Also, thank your for the pic. and advise.
  11. Thanks everbody. It was a learning process, but now I know how to do it right the next time. I used Everegreen .080" styrene rod.
  12. Hi Bob, guess you´re right about that, makes sense. I´ve now made a new rollcage which, I think, looks more like the one suggested by DoubleD.
  13. @Zarana-X - I really appreciate all tips & comments. I´ll scrap the rollcage and try to come up with something that DoubleD suggested. I think that some of the tubing was too thick (main hoop) anyway. The reason I did the main hoop a bit narrow, was that it would then connect with the rear subframe i.e create a more stable fixture. However, that may be me thinking in the wrong way?
  14. Thanks for all comments. I reworked the rollcage and it now looks like this.
  15. Hi everybody, I need some honest response from you guys. I ´m currently building a `67 Dodge Charger as a weekend dragracer and I´ve scratchbuilt this rollcage. Question is, does it look weird or is it OK?
  16. @hotrod59f100 - Thanks, glad you like it. @Dingo - No worries , there is allways room for another 240Z. As much as I like American Musle Cars & Hot Rods, the 240Z is a car that I´ve allways liked. I think i began when I saw the Tamiya 1/12 model somewhere around -73. Thanks for the nice comment.
  17. Allready from the beginning I planned to do something out of the oval base - and here it is. A small piece of landscape that, I think, adds a bit more life to the model.
  18. @geetee66 - Thanks. @Aaronw - The Lancia Stratos is one wicked rally car. Your model looks really good, hope to see more of it in the near future. Btw, the #8 ´75 Stratos (Safari Rally) was driven by the swede Bjorn Waldegard.
  19. @Kanedge - Thanks. Well, I can´t say the weathering is based on a specific photo or so. I´ve seen some pics/videos and used my imagination to come up with this result. If you search for "East African Safari Rally" on YouTube you will find some nice videos (though low-res). These cars were really dusty @Linetex - Thanks. It´s a matter of taste, I guess. As I wrote before, I think it takes on a more realistic and interesting look. It could actually benefit from some dents & scratches as well.
  20. Thanks for all the kind comments . @Aaronw - Yes, I plan to make something out of that base. Nothing fancy, just a simple roadsection. Even if you keep it simple it will enhance the total impression quite a bit. The weathering was great fun, actually. In my opinion, it makes the car look a lot more "alive". I also build AFV´s and on those models the weathering is really the final touch. The Hasegawa Stratos seems to be a great kit of an awesome rally car. Are you doing a WIP on these models?
  21. Very nice build of a classic F1. The smaller front wheels increased the downforce and improved the braking (4 smaller disc has larger swept area than 2 larger discs). The two larger front wheels cause a certain amount of lift and replacing these with four smaller wheels reduced the lift = increased downforce. Also, the contact area of four smaller wheels is larger compared to two larger wheels. So I´m told... I´m not sure but I recall reading somewhere that other teams (Williams and Ferrari ?) also designed 6-wheelers for testing.
  22. Very clean & nice build.
  23. @Foxer - Thanks, glad you like the weathering. @Zarana-X - The Datsun 240Z is a really cool rally car. This is the first 240Z I´ve huilt, but from what I´ve heard it´s the best. It was a troublefree build and it has some nice details. The body captures the look of the real car, I think. The only thing I could have wished for, was a motor. But, you can´t have it all...
  24. Thanks everybody. I agree, this is a great kit that´s easy to build into a nice model.
