  1. I usually surf the forum on my phone with the smart phone version that the forum defaults to that when I open the forum on my android phone . Previously when I click on a thread it took me to the very first post in the thread and then had to go through each post till I got to the new post (took forever to get through a big post and really big threads like the obscure kits one were nearly impossible) . Since the update it now goes straight to the newest post in each thread Thankyou whoever it was that made that happen
  2. Ask anyone who's partner suffers from mental illness if they'd do something like that to raise funds or awareness and they'd be in boots and all . Its not just cancer that puts incredible strain on peoples lives .
  3. BMW has shut down countless small businesses using the shape or image or name of the classic mini , they bought the rights to it when they bought the name for the new mini and have ruthlessly protected it . It's caused a huge backlash against BMW from the classic mini community .
  4. No , as I mentioned earlier in this thread the ROG doesn't look like a repop of the Tamiya kit , the ROG one is slightly larger which hopefully corrects Tamiya's one being smaller than correct scale , the ROG one has 90 parts according to their website where the Tamiya one ranges from 130ish to 140ish depending on which version .
  5. I've been trying to find a better system for years , but I collect anything to do with mini's from models (die cast , plastic , glass , coal , wood , ceramic etc) , sales brochures , books , manuals , whatever and need some way of keeping track of it all . I have over 800 models and as they are not all on display where I see them often I forget what variations I have and end up buying doubles . I would love to find a decent , searchable database that allows photo's of each item , especially if it could be converted to android as well so I could use it on my smart phone so I have a handy reference when travelling . Has anybody got any suggestions ???
  6. Thank's for posting that Steve , I missed the Challenger 1 last I looked through the revell site , definitely have to get one of those along with a few of the mini's
  7. According to this it's a 1964 cooper (no mention of capacity but should be 998cc I'm guessing) , http://www.revell.de/index.php?id=210&KGKANR=0&KGKOGP=10&KGSCHL=5&L=1&page=1&sort=0&nc=&searchactive=&q=&SWO=&ARMAS4=&PHPSESSID=4468e6c0c1c63c71854a6745e02a5ef5&KZSLPG=&offset=7&cmd=show&ARARTN=07092&sp=1
  8. I only found out while doing a scratch built model of one of my cars (Nota Fang , mini based 2 seat sports car) , I built the chassis from scaled measurements from the 1:1 chassis and then found the motor and subframe were a little bit smaller ... Checked the rest of the car and it's smaller than 1:24
  9. Yes , my computer doesn't like it either but my work one does , it's been happening with a lot of pdf's after an adobe update ..... I'm hanging out to see the mini , it's a few mm bigger than the Tamiya one so should be true scale (the Tamiya mini is smaller than 1:24 ...) .
  10. Been over here Fred (sent you a message here a month or two ago ) , left the other place after being told I should proof read threads for language there before letting my kids see them after a mod went off at someone (who deserved the blast but not the language and innuendo) . Any model site I can't let my boys see is a site I won't visit .
  11. Good to see that one finished Fred , looks great .
  12. Well there's only a week or so left in Autmn here but I was still watching bikini's at the beach on the weekend ... Mean's that it's still good painting weather too of course
  13. Very clean build , well done .
  14. Thank's for the welcome guys
  15. Alright , after having a horrible week for various reasons I've decided to join this build . Late last year I bought two kerbside resin kits of an FJ Holden (Australian only model , 1955 to 1957 I think) , one I built for my former girlfriend now current stalker's brother for christmas . I was wondering what to do with the other one and then came across this photo online of a classic racing FJ and found inspiration from it . I'm building this as it would have been raced in the 1960's so will be basically standard apart from paint . The pieces of the kit laid out , The colour scheme for this build was inspired by the above photo . The white/yellow stripes aren't even in this photo , I know , it's a works in process and is my first effort at painting lines like this . Lines corrected a bit but still more to do once I get some proper masking tape (using 1 1/2" wide house painting tape at present .....) , green paint is also rubbed back in places to correct problems before final coat when I have the aforementioned proper masking tape .... Side on to show the shape of the FJ , again , green paint has been rubbed back in places .
  16. Cool build , don't know how I missed this one when you first posted it .
  17. That is cool , opens up potential for a lot of small shaped panels actually (like a clear mini bonnet perhaps)
  18. Looks great , I love the idea of someones project rather than a nicely finished rod .
  19. They marketed them to us as the Mitsubishi Scorpion , nice looking car really , there's even a convertible running around here locally .
  20. Thank's Jason , I've never been able to cut that cleanly , I'll give it another try .
  21. Looking great , I like the way you've made the doors longer and given them a better shape . What did you use to cut the doors out and how did you manage to keep such a thin edge on the bottom without breaking it ?
  22. This is the Pontiac straight 8 from that link ,
  23. Thank's Nick , That's what I was thinking , I was looking at one of my built mini's on the weekend trying to work out how to put them on ... Thank's James , I've done another search now and found a photo of it on Revell of Germany's site , looks good , 90 parts and slightly larger than the Tamiya one though the same scale ... (Tamiya's mini isn't true 1:24 scale , I only found out when I started scratchbuilding one of my cars and wondered why the engine looked a bit smaller in the chassis ...)
  24. Is the Revell version the classic mini like this or the BMW Mini ?
  25. Around 6 or 7 at a time here , some are long term scratch build projects , some are basic OOB builds and others were simply a chance to paint the body while there was a good painting day without my two apprentices around wanting to help me
