  1. I have a 2 1/2 hp (I think) direct drive compressor with a 40 litre tank in the very back of the garage , I can't get to it without climbing over things and mini's so it's setup so the house leads to the front of the garage and an extension cord to the powerpoint near the door . Problem is I don't have an airtrap and can't get back to it to vent any condensation out the bottom at present so I am currently using rattle cans more than airbrush . Hopefully will be extending garage before too long and will have it sorted then .
  2. Mine is the Mini-Trac , it's actually a gif of the video I was given but Harry can't make it work here as an avatar . The Mini-Trac was an Australian modified mini that was trialed in Antarctica in 1965 , photo's of it kept popping up on mini forums with all manner of misinformation about it (photoshopped , was a mockup , was an Eastern European thing on a light tank chassis etc) so I started digging and ended up finding the guy who built it and people who saw it in Antarctica . One of them had some film on super 8 that he kindly converted to video for me and allowed it to be shared . I was fortunate enough to have a 4 page article published on it iin an Australian magazine and am still trying to find it (or it's remains) , the last reliable sighting was in 1968 when it was used to recover the body of a skier who died from injuries on the slopes at Mount Hotham in Victoria .
  3. Thank's Jonathan , it's a cheap rattle can called Brunswick Green , it's close to British Racing Green , close enough to me anyway
  4. Wow , the black underneath really makes that paintjob , it looked good just red and white but the black is hot . Got some paint on the mini , still ended up with a misting of white on the boot/trunk lid Also got an odd reaction from the tape on the front right guard but hopefully both of these will polish out .
  5. Looks really cool , love your creativity
  6. Look's very realistic , well done .
  7. Thank's for the great comments guy's
  8. Glenn , whereabouts in Oz are you , last I was in Sydney Hobbyco (QVB in the city) had a couple of the Tamiya 1:12 mini's (around $100 though) , here's one I'm doing with a Suzuki GSX1100 engine front mounted , it's sitting at the back of the shelf at the moment while I do a couple of quicker projects but will be back on the bench soon . http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53127&st=0&p=622646&hl=gsx1100&#entry622646
  9. Looks good , looks like a realistic swap . I'm surprised there aren't more scale engine swaps in mini's since they are becoming common in 1:1 , I've been trying to find a scale Toyota 4EFTE engine (starlet GT) as that's the common swap down here .
  10. Coffee = Fuel , nothing more to say ....
  11. I think what Paul means is how tall are the trees , are they complete trees or do they stop as a cut just above where you took the photo ? My question though is how did you make the trees or are they just fresh branches from something you have growing there ?
  12. The FJ Holden was an Australian built sedan from 1953 to 1957 , I bought two resin kits of dubious quality a while ago , built one for a friend as a replica of his former car and had the other sitting around for a while looking for inspiration . I got enthused after seeing the foreign cars community build and decided to turn it into a mythical race car from the early 60's (back in the time before racing harnesses and roll cages , these guy's were nut's racing while sliding on bench seats) . It was my first attempt at masking and painting pin stripes and they fought me all the way with paint bleeding under the tape etc ... The body is still sitting too high on the chassis but I have already sanded the interior tub down so it will sit lower , any thinner and there won't be a floor left . There are flaws in the paint and finish but I'm happy with it , today was the first day I could get it outside for some natural light photo's (and didn't notice the fingerprint in the polish on the right side of the bonnet till I looked at the photo's ) . Huge thankyou to maltsr for providing the wheels fitted here , the ones that came with the kit had hubcaps moulded on which wouldn't do for a race car
  13. Sounds like a good project and a great tribute .
  14. Any chance of seeing the photo in full size Frank ?
  15. They are currently all boxed up in tubs from moving , but I have just over 750 litres of mini's if that counts Last I counted them was about 4 years ago and there was 860ish then . 98% of them are classic mini's (real mini's ) but there are also some new mini and moke models , they range from original matchbox/corgi/dinky/spot on/etc models from the early 60's up to latest releases and custom made models (have a carved wood and carved stone mini from the Solomon Islands ) , whatever I can get my hands on basically .
  16. I'm the same , only mini's instead of Cobra's . I don't really care what form , scale or brand the model is , just that it's a mini
  17. Sweet build , I love different engines other than the typical big V8 in rods .
  18. Then again maybe it isn't ... when I look at the above post it show's the avatar as a screen grab from the gif and not a moving image whereas when I look at it in my profile it's a moving image . What do others see there ?
  19. Yay , it seems to be working now ???
  20. :D Come on , I am currently looking at melding two mini engines to make a V8 block that fits on a mini gearbox .... Of course you would get the itch to rework a Corvair engine for this
  21. Tried that and it wouldn't work either
  22. I have a gif file that I've got on photobucket that I use on other forums but it won't work here , any chance of allowing gif's Harry our is it jpeg only for some reason ?
  23. I generally don't put my full date of birth on things as most utility and other companies here use your name and date of birth as security questions when you call on the phone (pretty poor security if you ask me) . I know it would probably only take a dozen or so calls to guess the right year but I want to make anyone trying to screw me around work a little harder .
  24. Wow , bidding war over doggy spray jobs
