  1. Looks great , nice colour combo . I was following your posts in the foreign vehicle thread , you mentioned you were going to put valve stems on the wheels , are there any closeups of them ?
  2. Wow , the detail on this is amazing . Where do you get all your goodies for superdetailing ?
  3. That's a cool looking kit , must be a real challenge doing something that detailed that small .
  4. Looks great Charles , Just needs Lindsay Brothers decals (local truck company who had a very bad run a few years ago and became known as upside down trucking)
  5. That's some impressive plastic work there Jim , well done .
  6. The packaging looks right for the gun to be a Pyro , I'm still searching to see if I can find a shot of the one I built . I did find this site with a lot of Pyro models , they certainly covered a wide range of subjects .... http://www.oldmodelk...age=1&manu=Pyro EDIT , this looks similar but I don't think it is the exact one , I remember the barrel being smoother with embossed script along it , similar length though . http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pyro-1-1-Moorish-North-African-Rifle-G193-500-/120899575355?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c262d1e3b
  7. Posted now , http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=57550
  8. Just realised that the last two shots there are almost finished and the body wasn't seated right , will take some new photo's of it now it has been weathered a bit as well .
  9. I've just been looking at Martinfan's Monaro build and thought I'd post this one as well , I did it a year or more ago as part of a group build on another forum . I didn't want to buy the resin conversion kit so set about making the kit dash RHD which was very easy , I've set out the pictures below as a bit of a guide for anybody who wants to do the same . Maybe Martinfan can also show how he converted the nose piece to be more like the Monaro one . I only used part of the kit nose and bodgied the rest to look like a Comodore (The four door sedan the Monaro is based on, I figured someone using it for an off road racer would use the cheapest parts they could when they were the first bit to hit a tree tc ...) nose on top of a hefty bumper . I cut the rear half of the dash off , Then split the dash into three pieces , Then joined them back up before filing , filling and shaping , a few lines (side of glovebox etc) had to be rescribed too . To be more accurate the instrument cluster could be moved a little to the left as well but this looks good with the roll cage in with it , My Monaro uses the suspension (more travel) , wheels , seats and roll cage from a Tamiya Subaru WRX . A mate printed up the decals for me with some fictional businesses using friends names and me being the driver and my boys being navigators .
  10. Nice conversion , the nose piece looks pretty good . The dash is fairly simple to convert to right hand drive too if you ever get the urge to do another one . I'll post some photo's of how I did it later in a new thread in here .
  11. Unfortunately I don't have photo's but way back around 1978 I built a lifesized flintlock rifle kit , no idea on the manufacturer but they did a range of rifles and pistols . The rifle I built was modeled on something used in Afghanistan from memory and was close to 6 foot long when built .
  12. The Matchbox tow truck is called "Toe Joe" (yes , that's the spelling of it on the base) , it's quite a bit different to the AMT truck but the general shape is there .
  13. Looks great , the only thing I'd say is missing since it is a driveable model is a driver figure , preferably with an evil expression on his face and preferably a terrified looking girlfriend beside him hanging on to the O F handle
  14. Thank's Darryl , I remembered seeing someone else had done this in 1:24 before but couldn't find it again . So that's a 1:28 scale engine , still looks a smidgen small by comparrison . Has anyone else got an engine sitting about they can measure please ? That's a cool looking build Walter .
  15. It's parentage doesn't bother me so anything that is the right size and looks close will do . Any chance of you getting some measurments of the engine you have Scale-Master please to confirm it is 1:32 that I am looking for ? Maybe it needs a 21st century revamp if it get's a Japanese engine though , turn it into a tuner with a big turbo hanging off each cylinder ...
  16. Thank's Steve , the cover looks too "solid" to have been made from seperate pieces like that .
  17. Yep , same deal here , I just build because I want models I can't get
  18. Thank's everyone , I saw your original post about that kit Adam but was having trouble finding one here . I would prefer a closer replica of what's in the original though Jason , it was only availible in this colour scheme though there were 4 slight variations of colour in the drivers head . I've got a little bit doneon shortening the chassis from the InfiniT , the diff is only sitting under the chassis rails at present , still need to shorten it further and recess the chassis for it to sit lower .
  19. Congratulations on the well deserved win Charles . I say build it , but in your own style whether it is battle scarred or lightly weathered . Your other builds are first rate and I'm sure you could do wonders with this kit , even if it does take a couple of years and stop start work .
  20. Do you guy's have the aerosol cans of expanding foam up there ? I received a model that had been wrapped in tissue , then thin foam and put in a bag . Then the expanding foam was sprayed into a box and the model sat in it , then a bit of glad wrap (plastic kitchen film) over the top and more expanding foam over that . When it got here I just cut the box apart , lifted the top half of the foam off and took the model out , it worked brilliantly and I thought worth the extra effort as it was a very fragile and detailed model .
  21. Nice "honest" weathering , looks like it's well used , not neglected but not particularly looked after either .
  22. Well I've hit a snag with the engine I wanted only being availible in 1:72 from the guy I was talking to , that makes it about 15mm wide , I need it about 45mm wide . Does anyone know of any kit that came with a suitable engine that ssize (perhaps 1:32 or bigger ???) ?
  23. Dunno about preferring your avatar but I prefer what's over your shoulder ...
  24. Cool builds and a great idea , love the photo at the top of the cars lined up , must have been a glorious sight and sound . As a side note , was the American Top Gear any good , the Australian version basically came out of the south end of a north facing cow , it was too heavily scripted and the presenters had to do everything in the style of the UK series instead of letting them have fun .
