  1. Got a small update for you guys... Except for adding the rear shocks, the chassis is done! I even attached the steering sector and master cylinder. Now all I need to do is paint the belly pan, some other little odds and ends, then I can start putting this thing together!
  2. Thanks for the comments fellas! Means a lot! Raymond, there is a small pin-up girl on the nose, and I think the driver (or pilot!) would be distracted by a red hood....
  3. Thanks for the compliment, Ace... the paint on the wheels is just Rust-oleum Regal Red over some gray primer, the same paint I am painting the frame with.....
  4. Got a small update, guys! Managed to get a few decals on... a star on each door, a small horse on the trunk, and what you can see here. I'll be doing some work on the chassis today!
  5. I was a busy boy today and got the engine done! I'm kind of enjoying showing in-progress pics, as it's making me cut less corners than I usually do on a build. I will have more progress in a day or so......
  6. Thank you guys for showing an interest! Painting on the engine now, should have pics soon....
  7. Here's a little progress. Got the basis of the engine together, and the grill and bumpers I've chosen to use. Also here you can see how I'm going to try to carry the aircraft theme into the interior.....
  8. This will be my first in-progress to show you guys. Nothing too fancy, just an out-of-box build, although I do have some P-51 decals that I am going to try to use. Updates as I progress, and any comments or suggestions are welcome!
  9. Thanks for the responses, guys... not what I wanted to hear, but maybe I can fix it.... fingers crossed!
  10. I got my nephew a '63 Corvette snap kit, and I thought I would clear and foil the body for him. The clear I'm using seems to be soaking into the plastic. I'm using Dupli-Color Acrylic Enamel clear, and I don't think it's crazing the plastic, but it's leaving a frosted texture...... Anyone know what I should do, or maybe what is causing this?
  11. Thanks for the interest, friend! As for which kit she builds, I guess that's up to her... I have one in mind that I think she would enjoy, but she may not like what I pick out.... If her parents let her build it here (which I'm hoping as I have all the paints and tools she would need) I may start her her own WIP thread!
  12. She won't have to worry about sharp knives! At least not for a while..... sprue cutters and files, my friend!
  13. Thank you fellows for the responses... Just think, if you were a 10 year old girl, how awesome it would be to get some positive feedback, for wanting to maybe start a hobby, from people from all over the world? I'm the only person she knows that even builds models..... As for me teaching her, as it was said, only hands-on experience can really do that. I can only offer tips, which I was hoping this thread would do.....
  14. Sorry, James.... I meant the '70 2-N-1 Challenger...... It has metal axles, positive placement pins for the suspension to the chassis, it falls together pretty much...
  15. Thanks for the responses, guys! I'm thinking that she would like to try the 1/25 Challenger from Revell.... It's basicly a snap kit with an engine, something to get her feet wet so to speak....
  16. I am very excited! My niece has decided she wants to build a model! She doesn't want a snap kit either, but a full detail.... I'm hoping you all will be willing to help maybe come up with a good list of tips for building her first model....
  17. Thanks fellas! I was hoping to be able to combine the two kits.... the AMT has all those cool custom bits I was hoping to be able to use also....
  18. I have the chopped body from the Revell '49 Merc and I was wondering if it would work with the AMT Trophy Series Mercury Coupe. Also, would I be able to use the customizing parts from the AMT kit on the Revell body? Any help is appreciated.....
  19. Thanks a lot you guys! This is one of those kits I keep returning to to see how far I've come with my building.... it's the third time I've built this kit, and each time is more fun than the last!
  20. Thanks guys! I really appreciate it.....
  21. This is my latest creation..... This is a really great kit to build, can't recommend it enough.... Comments are always welcome!
  22. I've always heard that you Never mix ANYTHING with bleach, as it could create chlorine gas!! What I would do is try sanding off the clear coat, then soak in something a little less dangerous.......
  23. How does this look to you guys? Does it look weathered to you? I've been trying different meathods on fading, I think I may be on to something........ just wanting an opinion
  24. Thanks, man.... Modelhaus makes a '64 Dodge truck, you can get a complete kit or a transkit that comes with just a cab and interior.....
