  1. Thanks for the responses, guys... not what I wanted to hear, but maybe I can fix it.... fingers crossed!
  2. I got my nephew a '63 Corvette snap kit, and I thought I would clear and foil the body for him. The clear I'm using seems to be soaking into the plastic. I'm using Dupli-Color Acrylic Enamel clear, and I don't think it's crazing the plastic, but it's leaving a frosted texture...... Anyone know what I should do, or maybe what is causing this?
  3. Thanks for the interest, friend! As for which kit she builds, I guess that's up to her... I have one in mind that I think she would enjoy, but she may not like what I pick out.... If her parents let her build it here (which I'm hoping as I have all the paints and tools she would need) I may start her her own WIP thread!
  4. She won't have to worry about sharp knives! At least not for a while..... sprue cutters and files, my friend!
  5. Thank you fellows for the responses... Just think, if you were a 10 year old girl, how awesome it would be to get some positive feedback, for wanting to maybe start a hobby, from people from all over the world? I'm the only person she knows that even builds models..... As for me teaching her, as it was said, only hands-on experience can really do that. I can only offer tips, which I was hoping this thread would do.....
  6. Sorry, James.... I meant the '70 2-N-1 Challenger...... It has metal axles, positive placement pins for the suspension to the chassis, it falls together pretty much...
  7. Thanks for the responses, guys! I'm thinking that she would like to try the 1/25 Challenger from Revell.... It's basicly a snap kit with an engine, something to get her feet wet so to speak....
  8. I am very excited! My niece has decided she wants to build a model! She doesn't want a snap kit either, but a full detail.... I'm hoping you all will be willing to help maybe come up with a good list of tips for building her first model....
  9. Thanks fellas! I was hoping to be able to combine the two kits.... the AMT has all those cool custom bits I was hoping to be able to use also....
  10. I have the chopped body from the Revell '49 Merc and I was wondering if it would work with the AMT Trophy Series Mercury Coupe. Also, would I be able to use the customizing parts from the AMT kit on the Revell body? Any help is appreciated.....
  11. Thanks a lot you guys! This is one of those kits I keep returning to to see how far I've come with my building.... it's the third time I've built this kit, and each time is more fun than the last!
  12. Thanks guys! I really appreciate it.....
  13. This is my latest creation..... This is a really great kit to build, can't recommend it enough.... Comments are always welcome!
  14. I've always heard that you Never mix ANYTHING with bleach, as it could create chlorine gas!! What I would do is try sanding off the clear coat, then soak in something a little less dangerous.......
  15. How does this look to you guys? Does it look weathered to you? I've been trying different meathods on fading, I think I may be on to something........ just wanting an opinion
  16. Thanks, man.... Modelhaus makes a '64 Dodge truck, you can get a complete kit or a transkit that comes with just a cab and interior.....
  17. My latest paint drawing... Hope you like!
  18. Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments! Slusher, the truck is painted with Italian Olive satin from Krylon, closest I could find to olive drab.....
  19. Hey, guys..... I got a "previously owned" Samsung L100 from a family member...... If you have seen these before, you know how bad my pics were with my old camera
  20. Thanks a lot guys! yea, the pickup is my favorite, too
  21. Thought I would share the few builds I've done since becoming a member here....
  22. I live in Elizabethtown, NC.......... I would say we're a one horse town, but we have a TRACTOR now!!
  23. Anyone in particular inspire this build? This is right up there with "Big Daddys" cool factor!
