  1. I like the sky-high ride. You did a nice job on the suspension mods. Did you scratch build the transfer case?
  2. From one bald guy to another, tell them to watch out for bears. (Biblical ref.)
  3. Looking good with that finned side cover, Glu. I'm curious about how you controlled the depth of cut. I know how I'd do it (lay the styrene piece between two brass shims), but I'd like to hear your technique.
  4. Sorry I missed your response to my query. Thanks for explaning the process. And, gosh, when you put it that way it sounds so simple .
  5. Jim: Yes, I used the stock suspension from the kit, which actually yields a lower ride height than what you see here. The poblem is that I had to separate the frame to fix an incredibly lame mistake , and when I reassembled it I didn't get it back together quite right. I am definately going to have to fix this!
  6. Nice truck. That telescoping stay rod in the bed is a nice touch; scratch-built? I'd like to see a close up of it.
  7. With all this superb detail goin' on, I'm afraid we just can't let you slide on the bed bolts . The good news is that they are carriage bolts (dome shaped heads), so any .5mm simulated rivets will work. Scale Hardware has them in a variety of finishes with a nice long shank, which makes handling easier. In fact, they very much resemble the straight pins that you're so fond of , only smaller . The bad news is they're $10-$13 for a bag of 100, depending on finish. Here's a shot of what they look like installed:
  8. Looks like you've got all the ellements of a very nice truck there. That bed looks fantastic (have you given any thought to some varnish). Nice camera work, by the way.
  9. They show up better in the chassis shot without the body on .
  10. Looking good, Mike. I used a similar approach on my '37 ford.
  11. Awesome! That four link looks great. I'd like to see how you tubbed the bed to stuff those big meats in there. That grille looks mean.
  12. Great truck, great color, and WOW; that engine bay is incredible. And it's a Ford!
  13. Joe, Josh & Randy: Thanks. Gluhead: I have managed to paint some semi convincing woodgrain in the past: But whenever possible, I prefer to use the real thing, as I've done here.
  14. Very nice, I love working trucks. The seats, the weathering, the wood; all very cool, but what got my attention was the hose clamps. Superb, period correct, detail. What gauge wire did you use for them?
  15. Congratulate Mathew for me. Sounds like you two are a great team.
  16. Marcus: Thanks. And look in the truck section for my next one. Marty: I ppreciate it (comment & offer). Jim: That's how I interpreted it . I glued the 4 wires in a tight bundle then cut them all flush and super glued the bundle to the end of the "prong". Repeat for other side. I honestly don't know if it's accurate, but it seems logical.
  17. Nice, classy color. More pic's please.

That's NICE! I agree that the color combo' is awesome. And those wide whites really ties it together. You say the kit builds a cabriolet, also? I'd like to see that. I may have to track one of these down for myself, as the '36 is near the top of my list of all time favorites. You've done it justice; Thank you.
  19. Now this I like! I really admire functional, scratch built, details like that rollback. Do you have any pictures showing how it went together?
  20. Excellent job on the hoist/winch setup! This looks like something I could use in 1:1. The whole thing looks very convincing.
  21. A small update. I finished the new bed, complete with peeling chrome on the rails, weathered wood and flaking varnish. This latter doesn't show up too well in the pictures; I'll have to work on my lighting set up. Here's a closer look at the "cairrage bolts" (.5mm rivets from Scale Hardware) A look from the Ausie side. And here's one for you, Joe. Washers punched from .005" styrene. (My foil was too thin) More coming soon. I finished the angle iron brackets last night, and started work on the shock mounts. Any feedback will be appreciated.
  22. I agree with the Madman; that motor is sweet, and you've put it to good use here. Are the winches scratch built? They look perfect here.
  23. Extraordinary! Your detail painting on the door trim is remarkable, and the weathering really tells a story. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
  24. I'm diggin' that turbo! It's a nice break from all the blowers we normally see. What did you use for the heat wrap?
  25. Jeff: Thanks. This forum just makes me want to have fun. CrazyJim: The shiny took alot of work! Re: #1 - Orange peel in a can. See also #2. Harry: Wow. From you that's high praise. I'm a great fan of your work.
