  1. I agree with Helix that the air bubbles add to the realism. I also very much admire the color combination and the quality of the paint job. What paint did you use?
  2. Arguably the most beautiful production car ever made. Thanks for the link.
  3. Here's a few detail shots of the heart of the beast.
  4. On 15 and 16 Sept, the Red coats invaded Oak Park in Arvada, Co. Every make from the Isle of Empire was represented; from Land Rover to Lotus. I'll be updating this thread as I get the photos processed and uploaded to photo bucket. For the first installment, a pride of Jaguars: More soon.
  5. Hey, that's looking pretty nice! Your Grandad's a lucky fella'!
  6. Looking great, Glu! When I first saw the rear window I thought it was one of those flat magnifiers that they sell in book stores; Looks cool. The real wood bed is a knock-out, and the leopard skin interior gave me a little chuckle (shades of Dr. Cranky?). Show us some pictures of that beautiful engine in its nest.
  7. Don't believe him! Why, I could stop any time I wanted...just as soon as I finish the three projects on my bench.... and the 47 models in my stash... maybe... as soon as I track down that elusive '37 Chevy... Ooh, is that a '49 Merc I see... Uh, maybe Albie has a point after all. Well, enjoy it anyway; you appear to have a knack. And welcome to the madness!
  8. Hi Michel, This is looking pretty good. I had my doubts, at first, but as I watch your work developing I fin myself more and more impressed. Your techniques have definitely given me food for thought. Lead on!
  9. Nice looking truck. The bed lining is a particularly cool touch, and I like the clean detail painting in the engine bay, but....blue brake fluid?
  10. Exceptional job. I'd like to see some info on how you hinged the doors, they look perfect.
  11. Walt, Jim and Andy; Thanks. The contest was fun, and actually placing in it was an unexpected thrill. I'm fired up now; there's another contest in about a month and I've got two other builds that I'm now motivated to finish for this one. Thanks again.
  12. Thanks, Guys. There's another contest coming up next month, in Loveland, and I'm going to try to get my '37 Ford pickup done for that one. By the way, what's the proper etiquette / protocol regarding entering a model in subsequent competitions once it's won an award?
  13. Now THAT IS COOL ! That's a very nice technique that would be easy to overdo, but you displayed perfectly suitable restraint. I love the creative touch with the antennas also.
  14. x 3
  15. Put me down as #127 for loving the color... and everything else about this nice, clean build.
  16. On the strength of the responses to my '48 ford on this forum, I decided to enter it in my first model contest: Wing Nut Con. This event was sponsored by IPMS and a local club (Rob Wolfe, Denver IPMS). When the judging was done I wandered over to the class 27 custom auto' table and was amazed to find... Thanks to everyone who commented, it was your encouragement that prompted me to enter.

  18. Wow, that looks great so far. You need to put some fire blocks between those studs though, or the building inspector's gonna shut you down. By the way, I like your friend.
  19. I've got no idea what it is, but I want one!
  20. Here's an odd one: Formula 409. The odd thing is that it stripped the chrome from an AMT '40 Ford down to bare plastic in about 20 min. It took about an hour to strip my MPC Bentley but didn't quite dissolve the lacquer under coating (just turned it gooey). I've had a parts pack motor in there for two weeks with no result, other than the chrome being very clean . It would be interesting to get an explanation for this from someone in the industry so I could devise an approach tailored to each manufacturer.
  21. WOW! That's incredible. I'm sure most of us have dreamed of doing this at one time or another. Kudos to this gentleman for actually pulling it off.
  22. Looking good,Mike. That Hemi looks right at home in there. However, the texture on the valve covers suggests the black "crinkle" finish occasionally found on these mills.
  23. Nice build. I like the way you carried the flame motif through to the engine compartment and interior. And hand painted flames !?! I wouldn't even attempt it.
