  1. Very nice. Theme builds are fun, aren't they? Nice use of alternate materials on the tonneau cover.
  2. Very nice weathering and detail painting on the chassis, and I aint even gonna talk about the dash detail!
  3. Wow, that foil really did the trick. What brand are you smoking? That dash pad looks like it belongs there (I knew you could pull it off ). The P.E. parts and the subtle wash really make the dash details pop. I can't wait to see more.
  4. By the very existence of this thread, I can see that she was loved and well cared for. Brindle's time may have been too short, but at least it was good time spent with good people. I'm glad you were there for her John.
  5. Not being the automotive historian that you are, I can't back it up with certain knowledge but the black apron just looks more period correct. Nice build all around (as usual). (Nice Photoshop work with the color change, by the way)
  6. This does look like fun! I agree regarding the firewall wiring; why in the world would they delete such nice detail? As for the carb's: No problem. Just turn the motor around.
  7. Nice car, nice color, nice clean build. I'm looking forward to seeing more, Mike.
  8. Happy I could help.
  9. I couldn't get the pattern repeat exactly right, but maybe this will help. copy, print, cut it out and glue it down.
  10. Awesome! Congratulations on the well deserved trophy! Now go get some sleep.
  11. Check out the art and/or drafting supply outlets, and look for graphics tape. I recently picked some up in 1/16" width, and I believe it's available in 1/32" as well. It's a plastic tape and very flexible. I don't have it handy at the moment, but if I think of it later I'll take a photo of the package.
  12. Thanks, Bill and Jeff. Two workable options. I had never even thought of going with a die cast; e-bay here I come.
  13. You better hurry up and finish that thing before it disintegrates! Seriously, that's some nice looking rust.....that would sound so weird anywhere else. (Oh, by the way, you missed a couple of fingers with the blue paint.)
  14. I want to recreate the truck my Grandfather drove when he had his automotive repair shop: a grey 1937 Chevy pickup. Has anyone ever kitted this truck? I've been scanning various forums, but have yet to run across one. Barring that, I thought it might be possible to convert a sedan. Any suggestions in this regard would also be appreciated.
  15. As many others here have said, I never really saw model building as kid stuff. My father was an engineer and inventor, and I remember him building scale models of his inventions: ....serious stuff. Also, a neighborhood icon where I spent my adolescence was retired Air Force Col. E.B. Lackens. He not only built models (mostly aircraft, of course, but also classic cars), but he also developed and marketed his own line of card model aircraft:.... not kid stuff. I also have several artists in my family. Thus, all these influences have found their expression, for me, in modelling. I have always seen models, not as toys, but as representations of real, historic achievements, as tools for exploring the next historic achievement, or as a canvass for creativity - never as kid stuff.
  16. Yep, the new thread title IS appropriate . Cool tail lights.
  17. All the little details and weathering really brought this one to life! Nice job!
  18. This looks like something I'd like to try, so I'll be watching. You've done some very nice, clean work thus far. I particularly like the gluing jig you came up with for the stake sides. Do you have scaled drawings for this conversion, or are you "eyeball engineering" it?
  19. One question: Is that perf-plate on the air cleaner I.D. an aftermarket item, or did you set your elves up with a drill press?
  20. I appreciate the feedback, Jantrix, but I think the poor quality of the photo is fooling your eye; Those are 1/16" rods . I agree with the "Mad Max" comparison, though. So I guess I'll be screening in the grill. Thanks again.
  21. Missed this somehow; glad it got bumped back up. That shot of the bed looks like the real thing. If this is your first try at weathering, your going to be giving Dr. Cranky wet dreams in no time.
  22. You had me at Unimog ! I've been trying to find one of these (without the crane) in 1:1 that I wouldn't have to mortgage the house for. Now that's my idea of a truck! You've done it justice. Thanks for sharing.
  23. This is very nice! Is the tow boom scratch built? If so that's some very impressive work. What am I saying? That's impressive regardless !
  24. As promised, more progress. I got the body painted and WEATHERED. Actually, it's a little more weathered than I originally intended but I was having so much fun I got a little carried away . The first two shots include Roxanne the mule, which my daughter sculpted for me. I'm going to have fun painting her. The cab, hood and grille are just set in place at this point. By the way, I plagiarized the grille treatment from someone else on this forum, and I can't remember who originated it. If anybody can clue me in, I'd like to give credit where due. I'm also thinking of adding some screen material either in front of, or behind the bars. What do you guys think?
