  1. Most of them, not much. But if they can generate a large enough following, they can do pretty well.
  2. MacArthur Park, the song, takes me back to a high-school girlfriend I wanted to marry, but who's no longer living.
  3. AMT '59 Ford Galaxie hardtop, well-built from a kit...NOT a warped, shrunken acetate promo. Yellowed overall as they do, just missing the front fender-top chrome inserts with the "gunsights". Whoever detail-painted the interior and chrome trim (only on one side) did such a nice job, I kinda hate to mess with it. And only about 12.5% of the asking for one NIB on feePay.
  4. Smokin' hot deal. Good job. The only one of those I have is complete, but had a very hard life...and I paid more for it.
  5. Graffiti or "tagging" sprayed all over everything that doesn't move for a few minutes is really getting old, and I see it as vandalism, not "art".
  6. On paper, DeJoy looked like a good choice for the position, as he had extensive prior experience in "logistics" as a postal-system subcontractor. In practice...apparently not so much.
  7. This guy services a lot of older interesting stuff, and routinely comes up against the same problems I do: predominantly poor or no parts availability, and things that have been previously bodged while being "worked on". This particular car, a 30+ year-old V12 Jag, is a complex vehicle, somewhat challenging to maintain and repair. Like all older cars, it requires patience, deep knowledge of vehicle operation and systems in general, and targeted knowledge about the specific vehicle (or factory manuals and the ability to read and understand technical info and follow directions). HOWEVER...though these Jags and other early emissions-era vehicles can be complicated, they're not burdened by a lot of add-on electronics running everything. Understanding of the engine management systems and their diagnosis and repair is all the black-magic required. The rest of it, though there's a lot, is straightforward and logical to anyone who has any business "working on cars". Those contemplating buying an older "collector" car, especially if you can't or don't want to do your own work, should watch this video.
  8. That's also the case with a quality catalyzed polyester.
  9. On and on and on and on, lala, how the life goes on...or is that Layla...and I used to know a beautiful little redhead named Lila; I'm so confused
  10. Diddy wit a P be in deep doo.
  11. Wow. Just as I was about to take a hammer to all my computers because I don't like Fakeborg. Whew. That was close.
  12. I've had to have legal documents from AZ delivered to one of the shops I work with recently, because so far, most packages have eventually reached my home address, but cards, letters, and anything else in an envelope goes MIA.
  13. Absofreakinlootely.
  14. Season my burgers with chopped onion, garlic, and cracked pepper, I do.
  15. 'Cause it's important to be comfortable while they sit there playing on the phone for 20 minutes.
  16. Yup, there's a photo floating around of a '58 T-bird with no damage, sitting in the middle of burned-out desolation.
  17. Pretty much the reason that if I write anything more than a couple lines, or something funny or pithy or otherwise worth keeping, I copy it to somewhere else prior to posting.
  18. Interestingly, these systems supposedly incorporate "fault tolerance" so minor failures like this and the OP example don't stop the car in its tracks. Okaaaayyyy...
  19. Creatures like cats and dogs and even humans are born with distinct personalities, propensities, and abilities, and no amount of "nurture" can entirely overcome "nature"
  20. Ummm...'cause most of 'em are idiots?
  21. PO's not sposed to release mail, tracked mail in particular, to anyone without proper confirming ID. Time to contact the Postmaster's Office. https://www.usa.gov/postal-service-complaints
  22. I think we might have a "moon landing" shot there. Check out the direction of the shadow from the bugbus relative to the rest...
  23. Chevy smallblock engines of the old-school variety are among the best ever devised by humans.
  24. Fine sand in your engine is just as damaging as gravel.
  25. eBay has frequent glitches these days, as their techies seem to have the need to tinker constantly, and in the process other things get buggered. Nobody there seems to be tasked with an ongoing functionality overview, so some things never get fixed. The function you need will probably come back in a day...or a month.
