  1. I haven't built an Arii kit yet. What do you think of the overall accuracy of this one? I don't think we've seen a 450SLC on here before, so this will be interesting to watch.
  2. Wow, I just looked these up & they're pretty expensive for curbsiders. OTOH, if you're really into this type of subject matter, they're probably the only game in town. Are you satisfied with the overall accuracy of the body etc? I made a note of the paint you used on that. I'm not big on most greens, but that is flat-out seductive. This should be an attention-getter on any table when you get it done.
  3. When we were discussing these tires last November, I suggested that those of you who were interested in seeing them sold separately follow my example and drop Round2 a polite note at the address inside the link below. If we show enough interest, we might be able to make this happen. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65847#entry807764
  4. I'm convinced that the two halves of the engine block/tranny were designed by different people. I spent a lot of time with my files trying to get them to even line up correctly. This kit doesn't offer much in the way of detail, so you'll have to do like Al did (above post) and make the most of what's there.

Another clean build with a great color choice. Love it! The way the car is posed in the first picture reminds me of some of the better car ads from the muscle car era.
  6. If you look at the provided link, it shows what I believe to be the 1/24 Monogram '70 Trans Am kit. I'm basing that on all the molded-in detail in the engine bay. The MPC kits were kinda sparse in that regard. I know most of us would prefer to have everything in 1/25 scale, but if these guys have done their research and offer a good product, their items, combined with the higher level of detail in the Monogram kit, will probably result in a much better model.
  7. Great idea! There's a YouTube review that says it's a 351W, which was the base engine for the '73 Cougar. It should also be readily available since the kit was just re-released recently.
  8. Excellent work on the valve covers! Please tell me you cast several sets of those to sell to those of us who aren't as gifted at scratchbuilding our own parts. I see some other details you added as well. Nicely done!
  9. Sean, please PM me with prices for the Formula body, hood and air cleaner. From what I've just read, it seems that the work on these items has been completed and they are now available. If that's the case, it would probably benefit your business to get pics of these items on here as soon as possible. I intend to be a customer at some point, but I need to see the goods first.
  10. Had to go look it up for myself. I had no idea...
  11. I don't remember any serious complaints about it from the hyper nit-pickers, so I assume Revellogram got it fairly close. IIRC, the only flaw they could find was that the valve covers weren't the regular stamped steel units.
  12. Wow, if you do a quick perusal of Google images, you might come away with the impression that all the '56s came standard with those continental kits (I didn't do any research other than that, so it may have actually been standard). I detest continental kits, so if this was my kit, the first thing I'd do is lose the spare tire carrier and modify the rear bumper accordingly. Lose the top too. The result should be a sportier looking car, which is kinda what Ford intended.
  13. As Oprah might say to her microwave: I WANT IT NOW!
  14. Hats off to Moebius for taking the initiative in creating these kits. The demand has been there for some time, but despite the long wait, it's probably better that we have these guys working on them. They don't seem to mind receiving input from knowledgeable people, which should result in a better overall kit.
  15. It was actually an MPC kit originally. One of their better ones, IMNSHO.
  16. This one's camping in my on-deck circle. What did you find tricky about it?
  17. My older brother was friends with two brothers whose dad bought them Shelbys when they graduated from HS. ('69 & '70) For some reason, he didn't seem interested in adpoting a 3rd son... I thought Revell did a great job on this kit, especially when compared with their blunt-nosed '69 mustang. Nice job, Al! Which Tamiya red did you use?
  18. I've got the AMT '73 Cougar, and I noticed it has a 428 & 429, neither of which would be correct for that model year. A little research indicates that Ford offered the '73 with either a 351W or 351C. Are there good (stock-ish) 351Ws in 1/25? Could the Monogram 1/24 Boss 302 pass for a 351C in this car? (If possible, I'd prefer to use what I have instead of buying more kits, but I'd be happy to make a trade or two if necessary).
  19. I don't think I've seen one of these kits painted white before, but it obviously works! Great job. I wish MPC had put this kind of effort into all their kits.
  20. OK, I've got a few Pontiac fans who might be interested in this. I assume you removed the fender extractors and fender flares. Anything else? Also, is it possible to make that Formula hood without the hole for the T/A scoop?
  21. If you were to do a search for this board's opinions on Reliable Resin, you'd find several contentious threads that were ultimately shut down by the moderators. Long story short, the guy who runs RR is capable of creating decent resin products, but he is renowned for extremely late delivery of paid-for product. If you find you have no alternative to using his stuff, see if you can find the product on ebay and make him verify that it's in stock & ready to ship.
  22. When I was 12, I decided to take on the AMT '57 Ford. I had seen a couple other modelers do this kit up as a two-tone car, and I decided to take it up a notch by two-toning mine with candy paint. The plan was to use Pactra Candy Strawberry over silver on the roof and the body under the trim line. The rest of the car would be unpainted white styrene. I don't recall having built a model with opening doors before then, but for some reason I was concerned that the door edges wouldn't get good paint coverage unless I sprayed them separately, so I masked the body off, then, despite the late hour, I decided to mask the doors as well. When that was done I mounted them on opposite sides of a piece of cardboard to reduce the chances of any overspray reaching them. The good news: Hardware store masking tape, meticulously applied, did a great job and gave me a crisp line of separation. The bad news: I had gotten a little too anxious to get paint on the thing and masked the high side of one door and the low side of the other. Sadly, the first light coats were already on it before it dawned on me. I didn't know of any safe paint removers back then, so the kit got put away & never got finished. I wish some of those old Pactra colors were still available...
  23. James, I believe Pontiac started offering their Radial Tuned Suspension in '73 or '74.
  24. I love how this turned out. Did Revell design this kit to have poseable steering or did you modify it?
  25. Just looking for the best way to capture the look of an exhaust system with, say, 50k+ miles on it. I'm more interested in seeing age & accumulation than rust. I'd appreciate seeing pics of whatever you're recommending.
