The "Good Doctor" couldn't have put it any better as to "to the best model car forum on the planet". Welcome aboard! And how about a few more photos of that "Cutlass"! Gorgeous looking build! Oh! One more thing, It's nice to see somebody younger then most of us that's building models! It gives us hope!

I feel as if I stole this off of "Ebay" a couple of months ago on a "Buy It Now". I came in a couple of minutes after it was posted and thought, "not exactly what I'm into, but I can't pass it by at this price!". Anyway. I love muscle cars, I really do, but I love the '30's through the mid 50's more, and although this is a '64, I immediately saw some potential for a "Resto-Mod". Now I know some of you purists are thinking, "Are you kidding! This is an original '64 AMT, Mercury Comet Caliente and you're going to hack it up as a "Resto- "###### the Bruins just got beat!" Mod". Oh well! I had to go to on line to Japan to find the wheels that I was looking for. As to colors, well I'm hoping that what I intend on doing works. The model itself is in pretty good shape. Some glue damage on both hoods, but with some cleaning out and some putty I think that I can put it right. I ordered some replacement chrome from the great folks at Modelhaus and it looks fantastic, but I may choose to go another direction. We'll just have to see how it goes. Here are a few photos prior to my cleaning it up. As soon as I get a few of the modifications done, I will post a few more photos. Thanks for takin' a look! ###### Bruins!

I am truly humbled by the compliments that this '32 has received! Ron any time that you want to use "GRUMPA'S", you go right ahead. I was able to post some photos of the build on the "On the Workbench" forum under the same title as this one. I've got a '36 on the workbench, but will take a little break and do a simple curbside build. I'll get some photos up on that one. Thanks again for the compliments Guys! It has sparked my confidence!

10 years dem brakes lasted. 10 years...
Grumpa replied to '08SEAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Somewhat of a funny topic on a model car forum, but since it's here! I've got eight years and 218,068 miles on the brakes of my '04 Envoy! I told my mechanic at the GMC dealer last spring that whatever break pads were used from the factory. I wanted them again! Noticed a little squeak over the week-end. So I guess my time has run out. -
Nice little stock car Ron! Reminds me of some of the ones that used to run around "Riverside Parks" track up in Agawam Mass back in the '60's. Headers are pretty cool! Looks like "Smitty's Muffler Shop" new what they were doing!

What an awesome idea! The body "mods" on this look right from any angle! Almost like Chevy had the idea and you stole it! Great work!
-
Thanks for sharing the photos Mike.

Great lookin' car James! I love the "Cragers".
-
Keke, Great build! Looks just like your reference photo! Love the work on the dash!
-
Awesome car! Great color and looks like a "saddle leather" interior. Very nice combination. You've done a nice job on this one Sait! The first photo looks like a '78 Pontiac ad!
-
Martin, Very nice looking motor work. Not sure of a color suggestion to go with the purple wheels. Why not stay with purple through out the build?
-
James, Love the wheels - Love the color! This Vette's going to have some serious attitiude. Looking forward to the rest of the build! If you get a chance, grab a couple of photos in natural light.

The '36 & '40 Fords make the best looking Hot Rods. Love the frenched Porsche headlights. Great idea!
-
Great looking "SS". I wish I could black to lay down as nice as what you have done.
-
Outstanding! The color, the choice of wheels, all of this makes this stand out as a great looking hot rod! Nice job!
-
Gorgeous build Eric! I always liked the look of this car as a kid back in the 60's and you've captured that look!
-
"Whoa"! "Honey, I'm runnin down to the store to pick up some "Oreo's". Be right back!" Very cool looking. In any catagory!
-
Ron these are two great "Gassers"! It's the mid-sixties again!

I hope that you haven't found this too boring! These last photos deal with the body and some test fitting to the frame. Now I'm not the greatest photographer, so I apologize for some of the quality, or lack there of, of all of the photos. Thanks for taking a look and the completed model is in "Under Glass", under the same title.

This batch looks at the body and what was done here. The cowl vent was opened with a piece of hammered brass wire and screen added. The chrome window frame was soaked in bleach to remove the chrome and chopped. "MOVE OVER" was painted on some fine screen in reverse so that it would be "right reading" in a rear view mirror. "GRUMPA'S" encompassed several painting steps and ended up being somewhat tedious. The male snaps for the roof cover are Grandt Line, "HO" scale nut and bolt castings with "Scale Hardware" rivets for the female portion. All of the openings, such as the roof and trunk, were shaved to give the edges a scale look. The radiator shroud was opened up and a new radiator from "GM'S" customs on Ebay was added along with a fan. The "Jack Daniels" on the firewall was a label downloaded from the internet. Sized and mounted to a piece of styrene. The arch was just right for across the top of the transmission. The last set of photos will show some test fitting on the frame.
-
The next three photos deal with the interior. I used styrene to scratch build the door frames, dash, front firewall, transmission cover, etc. Brass and aluminun tubing were used for the steering column, with a screw driver for the turn signal lever. Gauges on the dash came from the Model Car Garage - PE kit. The seats were build from wood in an "Andirondack" style. Seat cushions are made using polymer clay with "Scale Hardware" rivets for buttons. Grandt Line Products as well as Tichy Trains, "HO" scale rivets were used and a slot was cut in the head to simulate screw heads. I owe this "torcherous" method to modeler Chuck Doan. The carpeting was stolen from a one inch doll house that I am building for my (she was thirteen when she got this) twenty-eight year old Daughter. she won't miss it.

I think that I have sufficiently figured out the photo posting to be able to post some photos of the '32 Ford that I have posted in "Under Glass". I know that I pretty much put the "cart before the horse", but since I am new to the "Model Cars Magazine" forum, and I did, for the most part, chronicle the build. I figured you guys wouldn't mind seeing some constructions photos. I worked on this build, on and off, over an eighteen month periiod, It was finished in the spring of 2011. It started out as one of the many AMT issues of the '32 Ford. The first three photos deal with the main body modifications and some test ideas.

Oh! This is nasty. It's two o'clock in the morning and I can't sleep so I'm cruising through some old posts and find this.....Glad I woke up! Great job. Very real looking!
