According to the Lightning McQueen wiki the character was named after Glenn McQueen, an animator who died of cancer.

I agree, by the time you mated together a half dozen kits you could just start from scratch.

From the Lightning McQueen wiki page the design was based on a Miata/Viper/stock car hybrid with no particular brand.

I was hoping other people saw this, I've seen all of the other episodes but somehow missed this one. For all the ribbing he takes Captain Slow is a pretty interesting guy.

My first model was Mark Martin's #6 Folgers Thunderbird, I was about ten so it was most likely 1991. I built it in two days, didn't sand anything, used half a tube of red glue, and then proceeded to barrel roll it down our hallway like some Talladega nightmare. That lasted a couple of weeks until there weren't enough parts left to fly off to make it fun anymore so it was back to Legos for a while.

Go ahead and file while you can still pull up the original listing, that is your evidence. Shoot some pics of what actually showed up and get started.

Maybe you could try sitting the suspect parts on a table or counter and seeing if one corner is lifting.

"Epoxy" refers more to how a product works than what it does. An epoxy can be an adhesive or putty or other things but they all have two parts, a resin and a catalyst or hardener that causes the resin to set up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epoxy

Too bad about the Chevy motor, otherwise the car is awesome.

I've got two of the recent reissues, it looks pretty straight forward to build and has a lot of parts that will be useful for other projects. I haven't decided what to do will one of them but one will be turned in to a pulling tractor like one of these.

I got my first Lego set when I was about five and they were my favorite toy for years. I got a bunch of sets and still have a large box full of various parts and pieces. Legos are a great toy for mechanically minded kids, I built all kinds of stuff with them. As I got older I built trucks with working suspensions and four wheel drive, along with tilting bodies like funny cars. Sometimes I still want to build with them and I've been looking on ebay for some cheap parts lots.

The bumper does look better, super nice.

If it's a current issue kit I do my best to get it with a coupon, but if it is something older I will search around until I find the best deal. I support my LHS by buying paint and most other supplies there.

I agree with the posts above, I get about two paint jobs per can unless it's either a large model like a semi truck or the color doesn't cover very well and requires a few more coats then normal. I get a little more out of a can of clear since color coverage isn't an issue, you just want a nice smooth coat.

For that price it should come with a young Asian woman to do my bidding.

Could you use an old style metal axle wheel to mount the tire on and then chuck it in a drill or Dremel tool and use a razor or PE saw to cut the grooves? You would have to make sure the tire turns really true so the grooves don't get too wide.

It's not a high quality scanner but I will send the scan to you when I get it done. I should have the kit by this time next week.

A certain amount of flash is expected but when it completely distorts or webs together small pieces it does discourage me from building a kit.

Amazing build, I've got one of these in the stash that I want to get going on.
