OTB - The Rusty Corvette is finally done!
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Tom Geiger's topic in Model Cars
I like it!! If Corvettes were steel, they WOULD rust. By the way, there is a lot of places for a Corvette to rust. A friend of mine is restoring a '78 Anniversary edition, and that thing was all rusted out. Around the windshield, the firewall, lot's of places on the floor pan, were all rusted. It was a mess!! Take a look: https://www.facebook.com/kalhambek.car/media_set?set=a.533742403372773.1073741838.100002110546395&type=1 -
I would drive that '57 Chevy. It's a '50s car, it's black, and even has an air freshner little tree!! Less is more.
-
Thanks Rich!!! Since I took the pictures, I gave the air cleaner a little black wash, just to break that huge silver surface, and it worked great. Will post a picture latter. Some friends asked me why I didn't two tone the car, and just painted it black instead. That has to do with a little detail about the kit, that I actually saw nobody noticing. The 1957 Ford Custom Tudor had a little piece of trim to separate the colors just behind the doors. 1957 Ford two tone divider trim. par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity To be 100% accurate depicting a two tone car, it should have that little trim piece. Lot's of cars were two toned in repaints, and those don't have the trim. The factory two tones have them. Another factor, is that I like black cars a lot, and I think the color suits the '57 very well. It makes the car to look "mean" I decided to talk about this detail Revell did "wrong" (not wrong, as it is not necessary to build a 100% stock and accurate car) because I saw people correcting a detail Revell did right. This detail is the spare tire "hump" on the trunk floor pan. People say it's sideways and need to be corrected to be parallel to the fuel tank. Well, on a 1:1 scale 1957 Ford the spare tire hump IS sideways!!! Ford did that this way among other things to make the access to the back of the right taillight easier, like when you have to replace a light bulb. Another question I was asked is how could I not to whitewall it. Around here I'm known as the whitewall maniac, as I put them on all cars LOL!!! Well, I'm not old enough, but i remember my grandfather telling me that back in the day, 90% of the cars didn't have whitewalls. I figured that a basic car like a Custom Tudor would be one of the cars less like to be optioned with them (but it would look a lot better with some BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH whitewalls!!!)

I didn't know about the movie, and it's a very well known movie, go figure!! The car you pictured Ron is not a Fairlane 500 Club Victoria, it's in fact a Fairlane 500 Club Sedan. The Club Vicky is a hardtop. Mitchum's cars has the "B" pillar.
-
Thunder Road? Robert Mitchum Thunder Road? No, never saw that movie... LOL!!!!

Thank you guys, I really appreciated your comments!! I have a set on Flickr with all pictures of the build. Forgot to make one on Ipernity too. here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lovefordgalaxie/sets/72157638858178676/

Thanks!!! The paint on the interior is all Testors. The light tone of gray I got mixing flat white and flat gray until I got to the tone of the interior of a original unrestored car I saw at 1957ford.com. The darker tone of gray is Testors flat black acrylic mixed with flat white and silver, again until it would match a reference picture.

Just finished this Revell 1957 Ford Custom Tudor. Painted it with Tamiya TS-14 black to replicate Ford Raven Black. You know, I gave a thought about that, but on some period pictures I saw, the vast majority of cars had trim and badges, even the ones road racing or moonshine hauling.
-
Thank you guys, I really appreciate your feedback!! I'm not much into adding extra detail, and usually I'm pretty happy with what it's in the box. Even tough, I wired the blue '57, and added a citizen's band radio with it's antenna to the orange '57. Yes, the blue Ford screams moonshine racer, the kind that could kick General Lee in the rear end, after all it's a Ford!!! Maybe a citizen's band radio would be a nice touch to it too, so the the driver can know where the hogs are  I do like the '57 Scrub, even have one built in 1:12 scale, but man, the '57 Ford is so ahead if it it's almost not fare to the poor Chebby. Maybe just a little :D In fact, The '57 Fairlane 500 Club Vicky is in my all time top 3 cars, along with the 1966 Galaxie, and the 1932 Ford (stock, please, it's so perfect just like Uncle Henry built it).

In reply to all friends who asked for, here they are, all my built '57 Fords. They are all AMT kits. Will build a Revell too, but I'm a AMT man all the way. 1957 Dodge - - Finished - - Class of '57 - Entry #2
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Ramfins59's topic in Model Cars
WOW, this is nothing short of an art work!!! I would love to build one, as foiling is really a thing I enjoy doing. The colors alone are screaming 1957. -
It's very nice. The only thing I would do is to shave that pin from under the trunk hood. Liked the wheels, and also the Wide Ovals.
-
Thanks my friends, loved your feedback. I just didn't take some pictures of all Fords together because it was raining today. I'll take pictures as soon as possible, and post them on a new post. When it's done, let's see if the cops can get the guy road racing the blue '57 Ford Bullitt car chase scene beware!!!!

Thanks guys!! I'm very partial to '57 Fords. My first model kit ever was a AMT '57 Ford. My favorite 1950s cars is the 1957 Ford. My second favorite engine ever (second only to the Flathead) is the Y-Block V8. Well, you got it... Probably I should take a picture of the 5 '57 Fords I have built all together.

Just finished this 1957 Ford Fairlane. I have lot's of Fairlane kits, but this one was incomplete, the driver door was busted in three parts, and the body had a tire burn on the trunk. To save the kit, I built it as a 1950s road racer chevrolet behind kicker The engine is the stock 312 Y-Block hopped up with a Paxton supercharger, and headers. The engine was also wired. Inside, the stock bench seats were deleted in favor of two little bucket seats and a cardboard cover to seal the trunk opening from inside the car. Also installed a roll cage, and a floor shifter. The build took me four days start to finish. paint used is Tamiya TS-15 on the body, and a mix of Revell, Humbrol and Testors for the rest. Hope you guys like it. 1957 Ford Road Racer par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Road Racer par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Road Racer par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Road Racer par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Road Racer par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Road Racer par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Road Racer par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Road Racer par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity

Thanks Mike!!

Mike, this is great, very good workmanship!!!

The most I like the orange Ford, my pride and joy is this one, that I built the way I like, all factory stock the way the cars are supposed to stay (IMHO). Color is FoMoCo Raven Black, interior is factory option Colonial and medium gray. The car have some FoMoCo accessories like the trunk mounted antenna, and the dual fender mirrors. Thanks again guys!!! Thanks! I always put local license plates on my models. if I put the ones that came with the kit, the car would be all the way up in the U.S.!!! How could I own it then?? :D The wire goes only on the back plate. Here in Brazil, the licence plate belongs to the car for life, and not to the owner. if the car is sold to another town, it keeps the letters and numbers, but the city name changes.

Real or Model #219 FINISHED!
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Model. Large, really large scale model. -
Nope, not the same family. Different maker in fact.

Thanks again guys. About that script on the quarter panel, well it's just brush painted chrome silver. This AMT kit has great 3D detail on the scripts, and they survive well a couple of coats of paint.
