  1. This is getting better and better!!! Just remember that on a Y-Block V8, when you remove the intake manifold and install this setup injection, you have to include a custom tube connecting the front of the heads to together with a common exit to the radiator. This or you are going to have two radiator hoses, one from each head.
  2. This one turned out nice!! The color is great. I'm kind of addicted to Tamiya paints. It's one less worry you have using them, at least you know the paint will turn out nice. And I'm NOT working for Tamiya
  3. '57 Ford!!!!!!!!
  4. Loved this one. Great paint and super clean as ususal
  5. Came out nice!! Love those little Suzukis. My friend Leo has one with the steel top, and it's a very fun little car to drive. The only small 4WD that can go where the Lada Niva can.
  6. Tamiya does some very cool colors that are spot on to this kind of cars. It's my favorite modeling paint for sure. The way your Merc got so perfect, looks like you got the hang of it too!! By the way, are you using any primer, or are you painting on bare plastic? I do just that with Tamiya non metallic paints.
  7. That's what I was afraid of I want to build one, but that means I'll have to get a AMT Merc to subtract the engine from. I got the Revell Merc as a present, and it was useless for me. The top came already chopped, Cadillac engine, etc. And I'm a factory stock kind of guy. Even when I build a Custom, I try to build something that could be converted back into a factory stock car in real life. I know it's kind of odd from me, but that's how my mind works. Even my 1:1 Galaxie has some customization like different wheel covers, and chrome dressing on the engine, but I can get her back to 100% dealer stock in about a day work.
  8. My dear God... (insert noise of jaw going to the ground) Not only my most beloved generation of model kits ever, but done in a way I can only describe as angelical, divine in fact!!! That's the absolute winner of the year. I'm packing my bags and giving up.
  9. It's great!! Very smooth paint, and perfect color combination. Does the kit includes the flathead V8?
  10. Great builds, all of them. That Lincoln Futura came out specially nice. I know what the kit looks like, and you did some kind of magic with it. The Guia is just like the one my neighbor drives. That "abandoned" Chrysler Stock car racer looks like the real deal, what a great weathering!!!
  11. I drove more than one Porsche, a Boxter and two different years of 911s. My dad was a Mercedes lover. He had tons of them, and those things costed their weight in gold around here. He was also into our locally made Ford Landau, and always had one of each. I never cared about the Mercedes, but loved the Landaus. The extra smooth ride, the purr of the 302 under the hood coming trough dual exhaust, the C-4 automatic with column mounted shifter, the white line tires with stainless wheel covers, bench seats, horizontal speedometer, THAT was a car. Would own a '66 Galaxie 7 Litre with a R-Code 427, a top loader and a 9 inch over any Porsche, Mercedes or BMW. But that's me.
  12. This is way crazy, in a good way!! Just have some bad news to give you: The valve covers are upside down. You will have problems when that fuel injected beast starts!! The rockers will hit the inside of the covers, and will make a noise like if the world is ending. As a suggestion: If you want to build a period car that nobody can contest, a set of bias ply tires would look awesome.
  13. Corvette all the way!!! Both are very well built, but the Porsche can't hold a candle to a Corvette. Not into German "cars".
  14. I think you get the look. The front seats look "too modern" for a '60s custom, but the rest of the car has that vibe for sure. Very well done, thumbs up!!
  15. That's what I did Charlie. Learned this trick from my friend Bill, a old school master modeler I knew at another forum. He is being using this method to strip bodies since forever. I think it depends on how pure the acetone is. I got to the proportion I said after some testing with the acetone I have here. The original proportions Bill had was one liter of water to 250 ml of acetone, but I regulated mine adding more water, and them a little more acetone until it was just right. The advantages over brake fluid are huge. It works fast, even on old black paint, and it won't make the plastic brittle like Pine Sol if you let a body in it for too long. Also, the body gets out of it without any contaminant that will prevent paint from sticking, as both the water and the acetone will evaporate completely.
  16. Thank you my friends, coming from builders like you, it really means a lot. A picture of the interior still "outside" 1957 Ford Custom Kustom par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity
  17. Humm. I sent a pair of 1971/1972 taillights to a guy in the U.S. once. The taillights of our '67 to '70 Galaxies are the same as the ones on a '66. And I finished one more: 1957 Ford Custom Kustom par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity
  18. Managed to get this one finished. She almost wasn't finished in time, as a little accident happened!!! My original idea was to paint the Ford a 1961 Galaxie color, Laurel Green, and I had some left over from my '61 Galaxie build. I painted the Ford that color, and like it was urethane automotive paint, I had to clear coat it. Everything went well until I cleared the car. Gave a coat of clear, waited a minute or so, then gave a second and more wet coat. The body really started to look great. Then I took the body from my painting room, as I was going to paint other parts, and went to the house with it. The, disaster... I slipped, and the body went to the ground. About every single particle of sand and dust I had in my garage was immediately attracted to the body (or so it seemed) and the paint was trashed for good. Took the body, and submerged it in 1,5 liter of water plus 350 ml of acetone (a trick I got from my friend Bill). In about a hour and a half the body was bare plastic again with no damage to the plastic. 1957 Ford Custom Kustom par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity Like I was down on Laurel Green, and I wanted a green car, I decided to use some Verde Oásis (Oasis Green) a original Ford color for the Brazilian 1976 Ford Corcel MK-1, Maverick and Galaxie lines. This time, the paint went smoothly and I had no more problems. Now a little background on what would be the 1:1 car itself. Doing some research on period pictures of custom cars I got to some conclusions: We are kind of used to see on TV some modern day replicas of Custom cars from days past. Those are usually mega buck builds, with frame off restorations, and super mega shiny paints, using modern materials and are as fake as three Dollar bills. Back in the day, those cars were usually build by kids with a budget, starting with a five or even 10 year old car. They used to do nice new upholstery, nice new paint, and maybe even to change some parts like shocks, and spark plug wires. Some late model or top of the line hubcaps were also a popular add on. Body mods were less common than one could think, but a nice new set of white wall tires was almost mandatory. Looking at some cars being painted at the time, reveals that they could care less about the car's underside. Unless of course we were talking about a builder that wanted to do a show car and not just a nice looking driver. They used to cover the wheels, ans some even used to take all trim out, but you could see some pretty colorful frames back in the day. And it was not done on purpose!! That is the look I wanted on my model, a 10 year old car, that was repainted, re upholstered, and won some accessories to become a lucky kid's ride. maybe I did it right, maybe I didn't, but anyway, I hope you guys like my little Ford!! 1957 Ford Custom Kustom par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Custom Kustom par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Custom Kustom par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Custom Kustom par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Custom Kustom par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Custom Kustom par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity 1957 Ford Custom Kustom par Túlio Lazzaroni Lovefordgalaxie, on ipernity
  19. Thanks again my friends. I managed to finish another one!! The last one of 2013. Hope to post it after taking some good pictures in the sun. It's a customized in a very 1960's style, 1957 Ford Custom Tudor.
  20. Nice builds!!! Loved the Lotus Europa. Chip Foose ruined one.
  21. WOW!!! Those are some great builds you have there! They are super clean, and smooth. Almost impossible to pick one, but that Ranchero...
