  1. Here is my 1955 Chevy. Finished her on the weekend. Turned the kit from a street machine to stock, or as close to stock I could get without some more complicated surgery. Like the kit had the big rear window, I could only go with the Deluxe cab, and well, that was my goal anyway, to replicate a black truck I found online. My can of Chevy engine red is old, and I the engine is a little too orange... Think I have to order a new can of Chevy engine red. Almost used Ford engine red, but that one is too red. Calling this one done, and moving to the next... Thanks for looking fellas!! 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet PIckup by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr
  2. 1957 Ford hubcaps!! I love that! I like it.
  3. It looks nice, but I'm not sure about how sound it will be to anchor the rear leaf springs on the body, instead of the frame.
  4. Looks like it is in need of suspension work badly. Alignment is way off. Sometimes the guys in Japan come out with the craziest tendencies. Just add about two meters of exhaust pipe pointing to the sky and it will be perfect. Nice execution by the way.
  5. Thanks! By the way, as I do often, I forgot I had a WIP thread, and finished the truck today, without taking more pictures of the parts... Hope I have some sun tomorrow, so I can get outside pictures to post to "Under Glass".
  6. Because I just don't have them anymore in all my kits. Used most of them to replace bad tires on kits I was building at the time. Not to mention my '50s cars all use the Firestone Deluxe Champion, and AMT is not making them anymore. Only a different improved (for them ) version on some deluxe kits, and as parts packs. Making my own makes things a lot simpler.
  7. I kind of don't care about the body being bent. The only modification I would do to the body, is to make it a four door Fury (I know there weren't any) to match the book. I always though thought this car = red and white. Maybe because I red the book when I was 9 I didn't know what a Plymouth was at the time. The only idea I had about it's looks was the book cover. So, for me, during a good while a '58 Fury was a four door beauty. I even remember, imagining Arnie pushing the car during the night to roll the odometer back and let it fix itself at a junk yard in my town. Too bad the movie was in California. This one needs a remake badly. I would love to see the Plymouth running fast in the snow like if on rails, and the actual way Buddy's Camaro was destroyed. 8. My one and only Mustang built, built about 15 years ago. Have two on the stash, a '65 and a Mach One I always wanted to build like the one in Diamonds are Forever. Odd for some, I know, but this one is the Mustang I like the most: 1996 Ford Mustang GT by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1996 Ford Mustang GT by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1996 Ford Mustang GT by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1996 Ford Mustang GT by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1996 Ford Mustang GT by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1996 Ford Mustang GT by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1996 Ford Mustang GT by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr
  9. Thanks guys. Now I'm waiting for the correct resin to arrive. Already made a better mold. My goal is to make the tires to look better, without gaps between the whitewall and the black "rubber".
  10. I started building a AMT '55 Chevy pickup, and I decided to convert it to stock. Problem is: No stock tires on the box. By far, my favorite model car tire is the Firestone Deluxe Champion from the old AMT kits. Also like the AMT Firestone Supreme, but those only can use a thinner whitewall. Since I have a bunch of AMT kits with those but ugly BFGs (the ones from the Edsel kit, and '62 Thunderbird, as an example), I decided I coul use some "home made" tires. Well, I have ZERO experience in casting resin, but that seems to be the way to do it reasonably on the cheap. Also thought: I could modify the old AMT tires as well, making the whitewall a separate item, to make painting and detailing easier. Well, I took two tires, a fresh 11 blade and my Dremel. Made a make shift "wheel" to attach on the Dremel, and selected the most true to perfect tires I could find on my stash. Started cutting the tire, to remove the whitewall: Before: Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr After: Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Also did it with a Firestone Supreme. Here it is without it's whitewall: Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr And here is the first mold I ever did: Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Kind of fun to make this: Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr First prototype: Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Started using the same resin used on fiberglass repair, and that was a mistake. The Firestone Deluxe Champion second prototype, already painted: Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr The Firestone Supreme second prototype: Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Resin Casting by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Now i'm making a new mold, to try to refine things, and will be using polyurethane resin instead. If I can get them tires to look as nice as the ones from the kit, after painted, Will make a bunch, for all my kits that will need one!!
  11. Nice 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner!!! The other cars, those non 1957 Fords are cool too.
  12. Thanks a lot!! Looks like the original color was close to Testors flat interior tan. Will gowith that, and Testors leather on the seat, as the brown looks to be correct. Will keep the dash top black, as I painted it already.
  13. Thanks guys!! Thanks!! I couldn't find a single sure source on the subject of the interior, so, like the interior of the black truck is white, with a black seat, dash top, and rubber mat, I was going to replicate that. The only good picture of a interior I could find was from a '56, and it was almost white gray, with a gray steering wheel, and column, black seat, and floor mat. Going to include the picture. The one thing I could find is that the wood on the bed was painted flat black, and not left natural, or varnished. Looks like most people modify those trucks and factory stock reference is hard to come by. If she were a Ford, probably I would have a brochure specification, or a book to follow, as I have a lot of Ford material.
  14. Thanks again guys!! Building a '55 now. Not a Cameo.
  15. Since I built the AMT '57 Cameo, I got the bug for building a black '55 step-side. When I was doing reserach to build the Cameo, I found this pictures: 1955 Chevrolet Pickup WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet Pickup WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Now that's a classy Chevy!! I had this kit: 1955 Chevrolet Pickup WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr And that would be the ideal base to build a truck just like the real one. That was until I found out the kit couldn't be built stock... I just HATE kits that can't be build stock. So I made a couple of calls to friends, and from the parts boxes of two of them, came the parts to make the '55 stock: 1955 Chevrolet Pickup WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr I'll try to cast resin copies of the AMT Firestone Deluxe Champions for my models, and the first ones will be for this truck. Will try to make the whitewall a separate piece, so it's more simple to detail. Anyway, my first job was to paint the body and interior. This is already done: 1955 Chevrolet Pickup WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet Pickup WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet Pickup WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1955 Chevrolet Pickup WIP. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr The frame has a lot of mold lines to sand... up to that now.

  18. You are correct. I did read the title wrong. This means i'll have to buy my friend a case of beer to replace the one I had "won".
  19. That was pretty much the norm here in Brasil for the fiberglass bodied sports cars in the '60s, '70s, and '80s. Google cars like Puma, Dardo, Miura, Lorena, Puma GT 4R, and Bianco S, and you may get some ideas.
  20. That's just awesome!! Fantastic paint, and great taste on the custom mods. The car looks unique as the owner wanted, but can be full stock again with no fuss. That's my kind of customizing, respecting the car.
  21. Not a fan of the subject, but I think you are doing a really great job. Very clean and sharp.
  22. It didn't take long for the thing to go from "your favorite paint job" to "a bunch of pictures of different kits, that are all my favorite paint jobs" And I just won a case of beer.
  23. The one I like the most, is my '57 Club Vicky in Colonial White and Inca Gold. It's rare for me to paint a car in two tone, but this one is my all time color combo for the real car, and I really liked the work I did on the kit. 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Victoria by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr
