You would get a better result by first gluing the cowl and door tops to the body, and painting it as a unit.

AWESOME!! -
I'm very partial to Tamiya Mica red. Always loved the color.

Looks really good. Are you going to paint the gold anodized aluminum insert on the side spears or are you using gold foil?

Both were posted already, but I took some pictures of both together, and liked them so much I thought of sharing with you guys. Added some stuff to the stock Ford, like the bumper guards I was on the fence about when I first built it in January. Also sanded off the mold seams from the corners of the bumpers, and used some aluminum foil to restore the chrome on the spots. I had done so on the street racer Ford and was pleased with the result enough to do it to the factory stock Ford as well. Well, here we have some together pictures. Hope not to bore anyone with them. 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1956 Ford X 1956 Ford by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr

Ford |engine blue? Ingenious!! Very well built model, and also loved the robot on the roof (that's how we call that style of police light on my side of the woods).
-
Cool!! I specially like installing a Ford mill into a Chevy. That will make the scrub guys to poop an egg. A hemi will do just fine also Loved the color combo, the added quarter windows, and the headers. The old Monogram kit can be built into a very cool replica, and this model is proof of that!!

The car looks great. I for sure love a four door.

That sounds like heaven. Only Fords and Mercs on the streets...

Thanks guys!! For some reason, all the times I build a street racer it has to have red wheels. We all know that red wheels add at least more 50 MPH on the top speed!! -

That? That is the AMT 1956 intake manifold. That thing you noticed is AMT's interpretation of the vacuum actuated heater valve. I was going to sand it off, but I forgot. On my stock Vicky it's more or less hidden by the stock Oil Bath air cleaner. -

My third build of the year. Second AMT Ford Fairlane Victoria of the year... Built kitbashing parts from the AMT 1956 and 1957 Ford kits. The color is some left over from my 1953 Ford F-100 in Ford color of Seafoam Green, that looks like blue on pictures... Have the complete WIP on my youtube channel. WOW, how could I miss this one?? Great job Ray. Also great to see a comeback in popularity of this kit. Along with AMT's '57 Ford it's on my top 2 list.

Well, you can foil the badges and give the body another coat of paint. Testors acrylic won't cause any harm if another coat is added. Just remember to trim the foil as close as possible to the actual lettering/badge/emblem, so the edge won't show under the paint. I never had problems taking the paint from the foil using thinner, even on acrylic paint. You don't want to get the wood toothpick "wet" with thinner. Dip the tip on thinner, wipe the excess that could drip on your paint job, and then slowly rub the paint from the top of the foiled areas.
-
On the badges, I foil them before painting the body. After the body is painted, then I use a toothpick and some thinner to reveal the chrome.
-
I'm not a fan of that tiara. Have two spares already, from '56 Fors I built. If anyone wants one, just tell me.
-
Can I download the pictures? Loved the model, with or without the crown.
-
Didn't quite understand your question. Did you lose the parts that make the crown? It's made by gluing three parts on the kit on the body. Two side panes on the place of the "B" columns, and the arch on the roof. All three parts are in the chrome parts tree.
-
Great job!! I really liked the colors. I will just add two little details, that my Ford blue blood are screaming, so you can correct it. You opened the roof, and installed the Plexiglas top. The thing is, the car is missing the chrome crown that goes with the glass top. You see, the original car was called a Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria Skyliner. What I mean is: The glass top was a Crown Victoria option, so you have to have the chrome crown if you want to go the factory stock way. Without it, the car is a Ford Fairlane Victoria, and Fairlane Victorias didn't have the option of the glass top. Of course one could just buy the parts and have them installed on a Victoria, it wouldn't be hard at all, just very expensive. The other detail, and this is something a lot of people do, is to just paint Ford engines blue. There are some Fords with blue engines prior to 1966, when Ford officially started painting all engines blue, but those were on specific years and applications. A 1956 Ford has the engine painted Ford Engine Red, with black valve covers and argent air filter. I think the engine color is not a big deal, after all, it will only be seen if you let the hood open. The chrome crown by other hand... Well, it's a easy fix.

This is going to be a nice one, for sure!! A lot of bomb defusing already done!!
