WOW, what a beautiful car!! That proves my theory that anything looks great in black, even a Mopar. Take it easy to drive, you have radials up front and bias ply on rear. I would ditch the radials and install two more bias on the front. I may end buying one of those kits. I have a 427 SOHC I would love to put in the engine bay.

Tasty. A well done custom. From where i'm sitting I only see the need of a little wash on the grille and nothing more wrong with it. I would be proud of this baby.

If Revell had at least chrome plated that two little air cleaners... I used them little ones from the kit at first on the '57, but something kept bugging me (factory stock freak here!!) and I ended scratchbuilding the correct one. On latter times I'm very disappointed with Revell. A '48 Ford one can't build stock, a '49 Mercury one can't build stock, and a stock '49 Mercury wagon... Without the stock V8. That's why I won't buy a Del Rio. Already have a pile of Custom Tudors for my all colors project (to build one in each color offered in 1957) but won't be buying Revell anymore.

The car is awesome. Don't care about the wheels, tires and brakes, but it's supposed to be a replica of the 1:1, and that was a complete success. The 427 R-Code lightweight hood is a nice add the guy did to the car to make it look like one of the actual 57 R Code 427s made by Ford to drag racers. The originals were only available in Wimbledon White, had almost no accessory whatsoever, and the hood was fiberglass, having no hinges. It was kept in place solo by the four pins!!

Both cars look great. One of the very few Tamiya kits that I have is this one. Their kits are great, I just don't care about 99% of their subjects Mustang fans will probably think I'm weird, but this body style is my very favorite Mustang ever. It looks almost like a modernized Maverick, a car I really love, and prefer over any Mustang.

The '57 looks killer in Gunmetal Gray. Also liked the wheels and tires. When I built a Custom Tudor with the E-Code Y I had to scratchbuild the factory air cleaner. Revell didn't care about tooling it. There is one that looks close in the AMT '56 Ford kit, but it's in fact an aftermarket air cleaner for dual quads. The factory dual quad air cleaner for 1956 wasn't even round. 1957 Ford Custom Tudor E Code by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr

Thanks again gentlemen. Don't worry, still and forever a Ford guy. As a matter of fact, I'm building a 1957 Ford right now. Also at the same time I'm building a '57 Chevy Cameo, but believe-me, The Ford will have more detail!! Doing a WIP on my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfJotiOVVu8aNqkbUC4PmTg -
Very well done. Loved the interior.

Thank you guys!! Call me crazy, but I would buy in a heartbeat a photo-etch set dealer tags, for all scales. All my 1:1 cars have them. Most new cars back in the day had some sort of dealer ID, a badge or even a window sticker. Friend of mine has a 1:1 1957 Bel Air, a four door hardtop in black, and is from that car that I copied the dealer tag. It's unusual a car to have a foreign dealer tag, but his Chevy came into the country in 1960 with his first owner, that was moving here from the U.S. Also know a 1955 Chev with a "Curry Chevrolet" badge on the rear. -
The car is a Monogram '57 Chevy in 1:12 scale. Inspired by some old pictures of cars during the 70's, I added a period licence plate to the car, and used the photoshop to mess with the color balance to emulate the pictures I found. Hope you like it. That's a great job. A work of art.

That's how a 1932 Ford is supposed to look like.

Great, just great. And people say I have no imagination painting almost all cars black. The fact is: You can't beat the class of a black car. If it's a Lincoln, the class goes trough the roof.

Very nice. Can't go wrong with a redhead...

Parts box Project 02: The Fordlina Gasser.
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in Model Cars
Thanks guys. I just couldn't get myself to toss the poor car in the bin. To build it as I first wanted, I would have to rob parts from one of my sealed kits, that I want to build into stock Catalinas in the future. Oh well, up to the next one... -
Built this one yesterday afternoon. Started as prepainted AMT '62 Catalina Custom I was planning to repaint in a cool green color and turn into a nice '60s custom, with a Ford engine, lowered suspension, baby moon hubcaps and wide whites. Like when I got the model it was incomplete and had many broken parts, this is what I ended doing with it. Turned it into a gasser style hybrid with parts from my parts box!!! The finished product looks almost like the hero car from a '60s Japanese monster series, with that spotlights installed on the fenders to represent GT mirrors, and that are there just to hide the fact the fender ornaments were not a part of the thing I got as a complete car from local evil-Bay... Yes, I already put a negative on the seller. Maybe now he will answer my messages... Donat ever buy anything from a guy called Collectingtoys... The king of the Cobras did it again!!

I like your creativity a lot. The car looks very cool. You captured the spirit of the thing quite well.
-
WOW!! That is proof that one can polish a turd. This kit is terrible. I got one, and ended using the chrome to restore and old build of the AMT kit, and tossed the rest on the bin.
-
Yep, the paint looks early 60's. I'm not in love with the wheels (I'm more old fashioned, even drive on bias ply tires) but the car as a whole is great. No need for apologizing. Some time ago, a '56 Ford in 60's style custom was posted here, and the model was a work of art, with painted on scallops on a white and maroon paint. The kit has opening doors, and the builder decided to glue them shut. Nobody even noticed that, and I don't think it's a flaw at all. If you don't like opening doors, just glue them shut and be happy.

New sheriff in town (and his Del Rio wagon)
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Sixties Sam's topic in Model Cars
I like it very much. Even the splash pan is painted the correct color, what is a lot more we can say, for example, of one built on the latest edition of a famous magazine about scale autos, that had too many mistakes to count, and called itself a stock build. Also liked the intake manifold painted aluminum. It looks like the Sheriff has an aftermarket intake, and maybe a big Autolite carburetor hiding there.
